Techies.com is an online direct connect repair for people too lazy to get up. They get into your computer when you contact them via phone or internet link. As soon as you ask a question they immediately require you to give your credit card info before they will proceed with answering any questions. Once you do they go into your computer through the direct connection you have made & go to "work". They begin deleting files/programs, for what purpose I don't know. In reality they are getting all of your personal info they can from your computer files, etc. Then they make it look as if they are repairing whatever problem there may have been. It is always an Indian (from India) person who is extemely annoying in asking for very personal financial info & then continuing to raise the price of the charge to "repair" your computer. Not only do they sit & wait for people to call them, they solicit people by calling them & claiming that their computer is infected with a virus that must immediately be removed. This is a panic tactic that a lot of people go for & get victimized by what follows. After they tore up all kinds of files in my computer by deleting them, I later started getting calls from anonymous persons requesting my banking info, credit card info, & expiration dates on my credit cards! I didn't give them any of it, but obiously they had enough to get started. I reported this & called the fraud department for all of my credit cards. I know they did this because I had never done any business over the internet involving my credit card# before this happened. Use extreme caution when dealing with these out of the country (where most fraud evolves from) idiots!
