I conacted The Beachcomber Rehabiliaions Center every day last week and was insured and guaranteed by the Owners Son, Ian, tha I had nothing to worry about, that they would have a bed waitnig for me as soon as I go to a deox center from Alcohol. Ian assured me that he would handle everying from transporation as well a insurance verification. I heard of The Beachcomber Treatment Center in Delray from Humana.
As mentioned earlier, I had been in touch with Ian daily the week before. Well, Monday come, and when i called Ian at Beachcomber to arrive my pickup as we had earlie discussed, he gave me a telephone number whom I thougt was to be the driver though the Beachcomber that would take me to detox and afrewards, to the Beachcomber for Treatment. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!!
Once at Detox, the staff here said that Ian at he Beachcomber gave away my Treatment bed and refered me to a much lesser quality Treatmen center.
Humana recommender The Beachcomber and my thoughts are that they found a chash paying client or perhaps one that had better insurance than my Humana. That's really the only explanation as most of these place are all about the money
Eithe way, trying to get help from Alcohol issues is tough enough once you make up your mind to do such, but having these types of individual who promise you a bed based on you insurance and then screw you around really puts a bad taste in peoples mouth and leaves a black eye on the recovery industry.
Ians actions, from whom I've talked to in this industry is bordrline patient-brokering and WILL be investigated. I will be filing with DCF, State Officials as well as Humana. Ian must learn not to play with peoples lives in such circumstances as I am currently on very fragile grounds.
