Three Fountains Reviews

  • Jul 2, 2014

To whom it may concern,

I would like to share a highly troubling and inconvenient experience I had involving the Three Fountains apartment complex in San Antonio Texas. The customer service was terrible throughout my entire stay.

They offered $500 as a referral bonus but after referring 3 new residents we received nothing. Finally, after fighting tooth and nail with the office manager Jennifer for about a month she finally relented and gave us 1 out of the 3 bonuses we were owed.

Maintenance always took a longtime to respond to issues and at times it would take multiple visits to get an issue fixed.

After rent was increased the second time in two years I went to the office and met with Jennifer to see if I could negotiate to have the amount remain the same for one more lease. We finally reached a middle ground. However, when the lease was renewed we were not charged the promised rate. When I called Jennifer to ask about this she acted like I was crazy and denied any knowledge of the conversation we had only a week ago.

After I had completed my final agreed upon lease, paid all charges in full, and provided written notice of my leaving, I then became aware of a negative mark on my credit report coming from Three Fountains, which resulted from a debt that I was not liable for. To make matters worse, the office staff was completely unwilling to assist with this matter.

As of April 2013 I paid my final month’s rent and provided written notice that I would be moving. My roommate, however, elected to stay and pay on a month by month basis. He remained in the apartment until approximately August of 2013. When he moved out he did not pay his final balance in full, but instead let the remaining debt go to a collection agency by the name of Phoenix Recovery Group. As of May of 2014 I noticed I had this collection amount listed on my credit report with all three credit reporting agencies, which caused my overall credit score to decrease significantly.

When I noticed this I notified my old roommate and he called Three Fountains on my behalf and spoke to the manager, Jennifer. He clearly informed her that I was no longer living in the apartment at that time and that he would assume reasonability for all charges resulting from rent and damages. He stated that Jennifer told him she would research the issue and call him back, but she failed to do so. I then contacted the collection agency, Phoenix Recovery Group, and explained the situation.

A representative handling my file then contacted Jennifer as well and was also informed that the issue would need to be researched. However, Three Fountains also failed to follow up with the collection agency. I then contacted Three Fountains directly and was rudely told that they would not do anything to assist me and that I had to settle my issue through the collection agency. Given no other option, I then paid the remaining $618.00 balance to Phoenix Recovery Group to avoid additional damage to my credit report, in spite of the fact that I was in no way liable for the debt.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review my complaint.
