First of All I just got fired today, after being retaliated against and sexual harassed My boss had asked my worker if she knew I was a Dike/Butch! Friday 9/26/2014 around 9-9:25am. 2- He asked my CSR if she thought my store manager & myself were having an affair! Friday 9/26/26014 9-9:25am 3- He then stated the store managers email seemed more like she was bitter at a relationship gone bad, rather than a disgruntled employee. Friday 9/26/2014 9-9:25 am 4- He asked my CSR if she had ever caught myself and the other manager doing anything! Or if we acted strange around each other! Friday 9/26/2014 9-9:25 am 5- He told my workers he didn't know I was gay when he hired me, & made them think he wouldn't have hired me had he known! 6- He asked my crew why I dress the way I do, and not more girly!! Same day he stated "Well her being gay and dressing like that makes sense now!" 7- He frequently makes homophobic remarks, for example, once a customer came in and was talking about her sister being gay the conversation was very calm and nonchalant, I didnt say anything about myself being gay. After she left marvin looks over at me and says " wow, that was a very disturbing conversation, that lady isn't right, she's crazy" 8- He asked me about my sexual orientation and made me feel very uncomfortable about it when I told him, after that he has treated me totally different!!! 9- He found out a different coworker was gay and stated to another employee " Wow not another one" 10- He told me and my CSR that "women are crazy, you all need to take 1 vacation day a month because you all yall do is cause drama and have babies!! 11- He has also told me he was going to fire a different worker &, that he was going to document her until he could fire her, since she called HR and got him in trouble that he would make her quit, or fire her. 12- he tells other workers that he has to treat women different because we are crazy and moody! 13 - He tells one of the pregnant workers that she needed to have an abortion because it wasn't good for her to have the babies! Which I personally know to be true because he also stated this to me about her! 14. Workers went to manager about someone being sexual harassed & he asked workers what were you doing to cause him to sexually harass you?" 15. He told me he used to like fast food workers because they were hard workers, but now he has changed his mind because they weren't smart enough! ( I came from fast food directly before TMX) 16- He told told me that all his chairs in Titlemax of Jasper, Titlebucks of Jasper was broken because of two big workers 17. He told me I was now on Salary so I worked a lot of hours around 100-115 & on Wednesday the day pay period ends he tells me im still hourly!! So he has to take ALL those hours off my timecard! 18. As soon as titlemax and titlebucks in my town came available I was the first person to email My boss about the jobs. I was suppose to interview for it, I deserved a fair interview, even if I didn't get the job I wanted a shot like everyone else. I know this is a lot of information and a little scattered but the point I'm trying to make is this company has belittled me (and other employees), slandered my name to my employees, embarrassed me, and discriminated against my sexual orientation, They tries to lead their employees out of fear, fear of losing their jobs, by cussing and yelling, and intimidating. They do not possess the characteristics of a good leader, judgemental, rude to customers, highly sexist... there is a lot more also that has happend

We applied for a title loan march of 2014 for the amount of 800.00. we pay anywhere from 100 to 150 every month and still haven't got it paid. My estimation is that they will end up with close to 3000 by the time we are done. Are there no laws against this?

Titlemax I got a 1200.00 dollar loan in 9/2013 and was at that time not explain about the high intrest rate on this loan , When my husband looked at the payment agreement i had made he inform me that the intrest rate was outragous and that maybe i should not have taken this loan out. the payment that was to be payment amount that was to be paid of in 12 months turn into a year in a half . even after going in and paying the princple has not been touched when i could not make payments on time i went and told them i could no longer bring in payments on the 15 because of the way i reciving my pay from childsuport and could i split the payment in two . the one person there nameDanielle C . told me i could bring in payment s of two parts as long as it was in the same month this happen in 11/8/2014 . I have never missed a payment but have been maybe a week late for change in the way i get paid. i have even gone in with a double payment to make sure that my payments were there . i was looking over my payment history and notice that a man who work for titlemax name brandon took tw of my payments and credit them both for the same day when one payment should have been credited for the next month cause me to have to come in a 3rd time to make a payment . and when i qustion this i got no real answer as why . but looking at my receipts i see the mistake that was made on the 3/1/2014 .to make a long story short after going in and paying a payment on the 11/8/2014 i told the young lady danielle that i would not be able to come in on the 15 make a payment and that it would be late she said if i could make two part payments they would accept it . I told her i would try . my payments come from Child suport and that my pay dates have changed . I call titlemax to let them know i would be back in on the 2 of january to make a payment for Nov 15 and Dec 15 and them back again on jan 15 of 2015 . I was given a ok by the one of the tilemax workers. But on new years eve titlemax sent a towing company to get my car leaving my car to sit in storage now until they are open next business day . Had i known that they lied to me and was not ok with this arrangment i would have tried to see what eles could have been done. My advice is that no one should trust tiltlemax to borrow money from them you they do not put money towards the loan you get your paying high intrest rate , and your lose your car and they resale it or maybe they are buying the cars for themsleves. my car is a 1998 Marcedes Benz ML320 . what started out just to have a small loan to payment for downpayment for a home for my family ended up in this nightmare never ever trust these people . If anyway they should be outlawed to have a business licences in United States. Closed this place down stop them from stealing people Money and cars . And the people that work for them i cannot say they are eaither blind to what is going on or they just need work , but to Danielle, Brandon, Reuben, Ashley, Summer, Gloria, and Santiago thank you for all t he lies that i was told . I never ask for a intrest rate of 155.88 intrest towards a 1200.00 Load. So thank you very much for ripping off the americans who only want a little help . RockHill South Carolina

The area GM, Rommel Bradley is the perfect manager for what consumer affair groups call predatory lending. When I worked with him he was a sort of employee predator. Seeking weakness in people and pounding on those weaknesses to make his staff conform to his egarious management standards. If you want a professional environment that nurtures your career, stay away from this company and Rommel Bradley. This company apparently likes browe beating, cruel and barely competent managers. They come cheap. True intregrity not needed. Need a title loan. I recommend Lxxx Mxx (REDACTED) I used to work under a current titlemax manager. It was the worse work experience I ever had. I have heard of abusive, ineffective managers, but until I worked under Rommel Bradley, I had not really experienced truly incomprehensible behavior like his. In 2007, I decided to take a leave of absence to take an extended cross country trip. I left on my trip and a month and a half later had another bad heart attack on the Road. I got patched up and went home. I needed money and a job. My bosses promised I could have my job back and they honored that, with some stipulations, Rommel (instated as GM after I left) and I met in person. He seem a reasonable man. I came back to work.

Happy to be home and in my Club again. It's didn' t take long before Rommel's true character kicked in He accused me of being involved in thefts at the club over the years before he came. There were many to be sure. I learned about them, like anybody else, after the fact. He made a long time, highly respected female employee, who was very good at a thankless job cry. This lady was tough as nails and managed a staff of young females. I always saw her as very capable and successful at her Job. Without knowing all the in and outs of club operation. Denied an African American female member entrance to the club because he was wrongly sure her children weren't members., even after I tried to explain the policy to him and she wasn't doing anything wrong. When I was MOD I took a members word till I clarified the situation than take relevant action. This sweet lady was an army solder and mother. Rommel stood her in a corner, with her children having seen the whole, demeaning embarrassing thing, holding back her tears till he finally was informed on policy by the staff involved and let her in. Yes, Rommel had every right to do what he did. But it was unnecessary and I think misogynist On my night off, a mentally impaired member accidentally set the sauna on fire. Rommel who had by this time been Gm for over six months, would have walked by a well marked fire extinguisher near his office many, many times. My understanding was that he wasted valuable time trying to put out the fire with water from the locker room.

I don't believe the extinguisher was ever used and the sauna was a total loss. This again was indicative of him not being aware of vital elements of his club. The club had a chiropractor, who rented space for several years, He got along well with staff and previous GMs. Not Rommel. I am not sure what happened, but I think the situation speaks for itself. It was so bad that after the Sauna fire. Rommel asked me if I thought the chiropractor could have done it or put the poor mentally impaired guy up to it. I told him no way, I was sore he even asked me such a stupid question. I wanted to say something to the chiropractor, but because I was really trying to get along with Rommel I kept my mouth shut. Rommel came back from a monthly corp sales meeting. He complained to me and the rest if his sales staff how degraded he felt, because the club managers that didn't make goal had to serve lunch to the clubs managers that did. I knew it was all in fun and thought to myself that his complaining was unprofessional. And as detailed further on relates to his own hypocrisy. Rommel treated me badly many times times. Even though I knew the club, it's members, staff and policy better than any body he rarely relied on me for input even as I watched him screw up time after time hopefully learning in the process. I would have gladly helped out of my better nature. Every once in a while he would ask me something when he really needed to. I am sure he hated to do that. I think it made him more resentful of me. Rommel took my club key away from me. I was an opening and closing MOD on different swifts for over 5 years I often had to stay late to complete daily sales chores. He told me to leave though a self locking rear door. A door that entered into a dark ally where there had been one murder and several assaults. I was getting over a serious heart attack at the time and was helpless to defend myself. I had a key under every GM I worked for. The GM, who took over for Rommel when he left, gave the key back to me. ( Things got so much better for everybody when he left) Rommel did give out keys to newly hired front desk staff, that I had to rely on. I know he didn't trust me to have a key, but he had no legitimate reason to deny it to me. I did gloat inside a bit, when one morning, his trusted front desk person didn't show to open the club and he had to come open it himself.

Many angry waiting members knew I had had a key for years and Rommel just ended up looking incompetent again. What kind of person sends a sick man, just doing his job, Into a dark dangerous alley late a night. Rommel complained to me about memberships that I wrote before he worked there. Membership that weren't “by the book” but were signed off by my bosses. He called us unethical and dishonest. All this complaining, while he signed off “not by the book”memberships of his own. He even introduced me to a new word for it “deviated deals”. He even allowed his staff to write new memberships to members who were in collections for non payment. This way we got a new member sales point. Previous to Rommel this was a big no no. And we didn't do it knowingly. To this day I don't know how he got away with it. I didn't really care, a point is a point. Except to note again his hypocrisy. During this time, members I had helped, complained to me incessantly that their membrship problems weren't resolved. Many of them were people who's membership problems were sitting for days and weeks on Rommel's desk. I had already presented them to him with the proper paperwork. I had done all I could to help the members. It was out of my hands, I told members to talk to him. What else could I do. …... This was unprofessional on my part, but then again I was working in a very unprofessional environment created by Rommel. It was rubbing off on me.

All this time I was recovering from a heart attack that dame near killed me. I was going downhill physically, mentally and emotionally and Rommel was doing his unnecessary egocentric best to expedite the process... Now the coup de gras. I was at the point, I couldn't take this man any more. I knew that transfer between clubs was common and even though I had been At this club 10 years (5 as a member and 5 as an employee) and lived 5 minutes away. I was willing to commute to get away from this guy who I was pretty sure didn't want me around any way. Out of courtesy and professionalism I decided to discuss this transfer option with him before approaching Corporate about it. I thought maybe we might clear the air and I wouldn' t transfer. I approched him before my shift about the transfer. He told me he had an open door policy and let's talk. I discussed some of my issues, particularly not having the club key he took away from me. I tried really hard to be diplomatic with him. Mostly I just agreed with him and promised to do better. He didn't promise me anything. I was compliant. It's kind of a blur, but I remember him saying that the sales department was sucking (he used some variation of the work suck.) I was trying to agree with him and I remember using the word myself. I even remember wishing I could take that word back because even though he said it, he might not like me saying it. Anyway I left feeling better and with hopes for my future with this man. I worked my regular shift and had a good day.

On his way out, Rommel told me to check my email when I had a chance. He looked serious. So I figured it was some important corp memo. I was very busy, that evening, so I didn't check my email till I got home hours later. I was flabbergasted. It was this long winded, ridiculous writeup, Full of exaggerations and lies. I couldn't believe it. He wrote that there were member issues that I wasn't fixing as, if I refused to do so. As stated above, they were all on his desk. There were always problems with memberships it goes with the business. In five years I fixed hundreds if not thousands of problems. Most member problems had to go though the General Manager than corp for final resolution. My job was to take care of the ones I could. The rest went to Rommel with the proper corp forms. He wouldn't resolve them or wouldn't listen to how to resolve them. Especially if they involved refunds. GM's understandingly hated to give refunds as it would effect the clubs budget which was a measure of performance. Lucky for many of these members he didn't have much choice after blaming me in writing for his negligence. Silly man wrote that I had to remove my bicycle from the store room where it sat with a pile of mostly useless gym junk. Rommel somehow felt that my bike represented insubordination . It never bothered anybody else. Not even Rommel's boss, who would see it in my office all the time, when I rode it to work long before Rommel's employment. It was just a bike in a gym. It Just bothered Rommel! I surmise It bothered him so much, that it's location must have filled the place in his brain where the fire extinguisher's location should have been stored. Rommel wrote I couldn't transfer. I was stuck there with him.

This was revealing to me after long thought on the whole matter. Rommel didn't want me there, it was obvious to me. But when it was obvious to him I didn't want to be there with him. It incited his insecurity. I was rejecting him. In his immaturity he was going to get back at me in a big way. A BS writeup with maybe one real truth and a lot of misrepresented crap. I hope it made him feel better. The one real truth in it. I had a bad attitude. And I was talking and agreeing with unhappy members. I was wrong. Rommel was wrong to put me in that situation. I hope Titlemax keeps an eye on him. Because He will drive away many a good employee for his failures and blame the employee.

I had the absolute worst customer experience ever this week in dealing with TitleMax in Loganville, GA. I had a past due balance and had been out of the state for the past 2 1/2 weeks due to a death in the family. Once I returned, I called to touch bases with them to let them know what is going on. As I am explaining my situation to the General Manger, Crystal Tisch, she cuts me off and says "Well when was the last time you contacted us? So you didn't have a phone where ever you've been?" I tell her again that I was dealing with a death in the family. She then says "Well you do realize that if you are not paying your bills on time your car will be repossessed and you won't be able to get anything?" Her tone was very condenscending and then she says "You called up here all nonchalant like it's no big deal that you are 45 days late on this debt you owe us." I tried to stay calm and not react to her aggressive questioning (hence, why I guess she stated I was acting nonchalant) but that last comment set me off and I called her a few choice words at that point.

I stopped by the office to get her name and the name of the person she reports to and she laughs and says "You are more than welcome to call that number" and she points to the toll free number hanging on the wall of the office. I told her that I would be calling because I don't care if I owe TitleMax one million dollars that I deserve to be spoken to respectfully and not talked down to like I am 12 years old. She again thought it was one big joke and laughed again. I have ALWAYS had a great experience with the other employees in the office, and this is the first time I have ever had any interaction with her so I assume she is new. She is going to run that office in the ground if that is how she talks to customers. She also stated "There is nothing wrong with the way I speak to people. I speak just fine and no one has a problem with it but you." She acts like someone who has a mental problem because when is it ok to talk to customers like that?? When I stated that to her she just laughed again. I left because things were about to escalate to a point of no return.

I am LIVID! I will absolutely NEVER give my business to TitleMax again! . I have never been this late in paying on my loan and others in that office can attest to that. I always call but with a death in the family calling TitleMax was not really top of my priority list. When I did call then she starts in on me like she is scolding a dog. Then says you're calling in here all nonchalant like you're not late. So are customers supposed to call in begging for forgiveness because we are late? I called to let her know what was going on and to try to resolve the late payment. We never got that far because she was rude from the start. It is very disappointing to know that I have to continuously deal with TitleMax until the loan is paid when they have someone in management that treats people like she treated me this evening. What's even more disappointing is that even though I have contacted the corporate office my complaint will probably just be put in a pile and disregarded while she continues to disrespect and humiliate customers. This is a sad commentary on how little they value their customers.

My only real problem with TitleMax is they dont report your account to the credit bureau even when it can HELP you.

Yes they do also have higher interests too. But I was a loyal customer of them. I took out 3 title loans with them in 2 years and I always paid on time, even paying the last one off in only 7 months although I had 2 years to pay it off.

I understand why they dont report to credit bureau but now its hurting me. Now I need it on my credit report to get a a loan for an emergency. More than just a title loan. I asked 3 times if they could send the info and my account to the credit bureau and they said no. They let it be known they won't do it , no matter what.

Now I regret using them. It took me 2 years to establish that credit and now I realy need it but titlemax are being dicks about it. It pisses me off.

Predatory lending is any lending practice that imposes unfair or abusive loan terms on a borrower. Title loans also known as title pawns fit this definition perfectly.

The following is a perspective based upon personal experience as well as recommendation for a better alternative when money is needed quickly.

My bad experience started with TitleMax. TitleMax’s website displays a $50 bonus for first time clients that apply for a title loan online which I did and selected the closest TitleMax branch as directed. The following day I contacted the TitleMax branch selected and inquired about the $50 bonus. “Sometimes we don’t receive online loans applications, please let me check.” I was told. After a few minutes of being placed on hold, the TitleMax representative returned. “Sorry sir, I don’t see your name so I can’t offer you the bonus. But I can help you with your title loan needs.” Said the gent who stated he was filling in at this particular branch. During the conversation, the TitleMax rep stated that, I order to get the $50 bonus, the title loan must be completed within 24 hours of applying for the loan online. It’s my belief that the $50 bonus is a gimmick to generate business and that very few, if any, actually the $50 bonus. Nowhere on the website is there a time limit indicated. Thankfully, and as I explained to the TitleMax rep that when Home Depot offers a $50 gift card when a customer purchases a new riding mower, Home Depot never says “well you didn’t buy the mower within 24 hours so you don’t get the gift card.” I then realized that TitleMax was not to be trusted and went to Smart Choice Title Loans up the road, where I findly got a title loan.

Once inside the Smart Choice Ttile Loan office, I was seated and offered a bottle of water. Then the long arduous process of getting the title long began. Its starts with a 4 page loan application that resemble a job application to included references, parents name, address and phone number, prior living addresses, job history with wages amounts, detailed driver license information, and oddball questions like ‘how did you hear about us?’ While filling out the marathon application, my SSN card, registration and driver’s license was photocopied, my picture taken and my vehicle inspected. The loan rep said the least that I could borrow was $601 up to a maximum of $2500. The interest is roughly $25 per $100 EACH 30 days (Over 300% APR) and there are late fees if monthly payment arrive late. Smart Choice does have a program where if the minimum amount of $601 is borrowed and paid back within 30 days, the loan is interest free and higher principles are prorated. An hour later I was issued a check, politely excused myself and left completely exhausted from the ordeal promising myself never again. And I do plan to pay off the loan inside 30 days in order to avoid $126.75 interest, and that’s per month! Does this loan qualify as predatory lending? If monthly interest of $127on a $601 loan isn’t abusive, then what is??? I hope you will agree that title loans companies are predators within our community and avoid them. As an alternative, I recommend a pawnshop.

A television, firearm or piece of gold jewelry can be pawned in15 minutes or less. There’s no lengthy loan application, and you only need a valid ID, JUST ONE! Secondly, unlike title loans a borrower can borrow as little as $10 ($2.50 interest) or $100 ($22.50 interest) or more. By borrowing less money, you pay back less interest and rarely are there situations that call for $601 loan. The average loan amount for pawnshops is $60. Lastly, next to a person’s home, personal vehicles are next high value asset usually owned. Placing your title in hands of these unscrupulous predatory lenders is not very wise. They will hunt down and seize vehicles the moment that title loans going into default and sell them for extraordinary profits. Borrowers are much better putting something small and insignificant in pawn and redeeming it inside 30 days to avoid additional interest. And if you lose the item which often happens, it’s much easier to replace.

Bottom line, avoid title loans. If you need money, pawn something personal for the least amount needed and pick it up as soon as possible. Thanks for reading and best wishes.

I took out a title loan, I was approved for $4000, but after they took out fees, moly only got $3800. I don't ever remember seeing the paper where it shows the interest rate, or how much I would be paying back after two years.

I was in a bind and needed the money, I didn't even need that much, but they talked me into taking the full amount I was approved for. After continulesly making my payment every month, I had paid off the amount that borrowed and more within less then a year, I then lost my job, and was not able to make my payment, they said I could refinance, but they would add $800 more on to my loan, after being late one month, they repoed my truck, was told I would have to get caught pun with my payments and late fees before they would release my truck, then I would have to pay the place for storing my truck.

I don't know how this can be legal, this ihe one of the reasons why this country is going to shit. You go to someone for help when your struggling, and you end up loosing more thn what you started with. The interest rate they gave me was 111%, who does that, really?
