I was browsing the internet today and came across a review on www.myhydroponicgardening.com on TruLite LED. I have followed the LED Grow Light industry for a very long time and something struck me a bit odd about this review - mainly how biased it was.
See most people don't know this, but Matthew Butka (the guy who co-owns and runs TruLite LED) owns the site My Hydroponic Gardening. In fact he used this site for many years to promote various lights from different companies, do reviews on their products, grow tests, etc... I imagine he also made money from referring sales to the companies he promoted. But then one day it all stopped. The grow tests and promotions ceased, and the site became less of an authority on who had the best products. Then a year later a new review pops up on TruLite LED, Matthew's new company. The reason I am writing this post is because of the blatant lies said on this review by Matthew (going by HydroMan):
"After testing dozens of lights, I know that TL give as good or better results with less power. This means more grams/watt and a lower cost – making it the best light I have tested. I am not sponsored by TL, just a grower that likes to have fun with new technology ~Hydroman"
No, you're not sponsored by TruLite Matthew Butka, you own it! And of course you don't come clean about being the owner of the company - you just over-hype and over promote a product you stole from Hydro Grow LED!
See here is the thing - I said I have been following this industry for a long time, and I have. At one point Matthew promoted Hydro Grow's lights very heavily. After testing countless lights he found their lights were the absolute best, and so what did he do? He went behind their back and began producing counterfeit versions of them! This is know as Intellectual Property Theft in the US. He then goes on masquerading on his site as though he invented the technology and has been developing it since 2011! Funny how his site www.truliteled.com was registered in 2013...
The worst part of all is that Matthew doesn't even sell you a better version of the Hydro Grow light! The prices are cheaper than Hydro Grow, but so is the wattage you get for it! IE: His TL440 is a counterfeit of the 336X-PRO. The TL440 is $1549 and 440W ($3.52/watt). The 336X-PRO is 520W and $1799 ($3.45/watt)! YEAH HE ACTUALLY CHARGES YOU MORE FOR A CHEAP COUNTERFEIT! BEWARE OF TRULITE LED.
Matthew uses deceptive marketing on his site to convince you his lights are the best. He then bolsters this site with his My Hydroponics Gardening, www.veggiefreshled.com , and www.howtogrowbud.com websites. He is not only breaking international laws selling you counterfeit LED Grow Lights, he's also lying to you about who created them and their technology! And he's hiding behind other sites he owns promoting his own products while acting like a third-party! These fraudulent and deceptive business practices should be called into question.
As a bystander in this community I just can't stand all the bull shit thrown around by the various manufacturers. WHen I saw Matt telling people they could get Hydro Grow or better performance at a cheaper price from his cheaply-built knock-offs, I had to write a report on it. This guy is RIPPING PEOPLE OFF with counterfeit lights at a PREMIUM. I pity the fool who bought from him. What a disgrace - it's no wonder the LED GRow Light industry has such a bad name.
