Two Men and a Truck Reviews

  • Jul 2, 2015

Two Men & A Truck moved me into my new house on May 27, 2015

Before the move was complete the guy in-charge of the move, Chandler, went over the paperwork with me about 30 minutes before everything was completed He had me to check off on this checklist saying everything was complete and there wasn't any damages, which I did not have an opportunity to look at the furniture throughout the house at that point.

I went to take a look in the master bedroom on the main level and I noticed there was a wide scratch on the armoire. When I saw the scratch, I immediately evaluated the other sides of the armoire. My findings there was a chunk of wood missing from the right side as well and an even larger chunk from the left side.

Immediately I got Chandler to show him the damages (he was cleaning off the back of the truck). He came in and took a look and immediately said they did not do it. I expressed to him, well the last time I saw it, it wasn't damaged. He then expressed to me that it must have happened when it was stored, and I told him "you were on the crew that put it in storage" (I used Two Men And A Truck to move everything to storage which was over $2,200.00). After that he simply replied, "well, we didn't do it".

On May 28, 2015, I called to speak with someone about the issue. I was told that Nicholas would be calling me back about the issue. Nicholas was very slow in returning my phone call. I had to call him continuously until finally they got him to the phone. He told me that he could come out the morning of June 7, 2015.

He came out as he said on June 7, 2015, took a look at the damages and said he would get a company by the name of Cullman Furniture Repair to come out and repair the armoire. He said they would contact me before the week is out, if not they would give me a call no later than Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

I did not hear from Cullman Furniture Repair until June 23, 2015. The young lady stated that she wanted to put me on their schedule, which non of the times I was available they could come from Cullman, AL to Birmingham, AL (which is a little over 60 miles away). At this point I was extremely aggravated by the negligence and disregard by Two Men And A Truck. When they found out on June 23, 2015 that I was going to take recourse, that's when they made contact with Cullman Furniture Repair to contact me.

Not once was I asked how could they make it right. Not once did anyone apologize. Nicholas was very evasive and "told me" they would send a furniture repair company out, which I was not pleased with.

To complete this move from my old home to storage and from storage to my new home, I spent well over $3,000.00.

They took my money and don't want to be accountable for furniture they damaged and now I'm left looking a an expensive severly damaged armoire.

This has been the worse experience I've ever had in my life!

While they quickly agreed to helping with an emergency same-day move, the execution of the move was way less than acceptable. They DO NOT understand what customer service is all about.

1.) They said they would arrive between 2 and 4. They actually arrived after 5, although did call to let us know of the unforseeable circumstances causing the delay.

2.) We specifically asked that they bring 10 waredrobe boxes. They did bring 10, however brought only one hanging bar, so the rest were useless and most of the clothes had to be moved separately by the customer.

3.) Despite being told to be particularly careful with the dining room chairs, one of them was broken within 30 minutes due to mishandling and a total lack of care and / or actual moving experience.

4.) Since the move-out took considerably longer than anticipated, it was suggested they do the move-in the following day, which was Sunday. We were told by the driver that the logistics manager would contact us between 10 - 11am to schedule the move-in. At 11:30 we were begining to panic because we were unable to reach anyone in their office. We called and texted the cell phone number of the driver, asking how to contact the manager, and finally got it hours later. Everyone wants to send texts - nobody wants to speak to a paying customer. We did not actually get a call to schedule the move-in until 2pm.

5.) Since they knew we were VERY upset about how everthing had been handled, they did have 5 guys show up for the move-in, and they did a fairly good, efficient job of doing so.

6.) Because of careless handling, and picking up a piece of furniture with the cosmetic handles rather than the base of the furniture, like an experienced mover would know to do, they also broke one of the handles.

7.) The standard insurance that comes with the contract provided $35, rather than the $200-300 out-of-pocket money it will actually cost to repair / replace the items.

8.) The moving bill for relocating a one bed-room apartment into a two-bedroom apartment about 1 mile away ended up costing us about twice what was provided as an estimate, plus the repair / replacement costs, and incredible frustration.

While I have had a good experience with this company in Asheville, NC, I certainly CANNOT recommond that anyone use the Two Men And A Truck franchise in Chicago. Good luck with your move. I hope you have a better experience with a qualified, skilled moving company that cares about you and your belongings.

P.S. I'm a dad from CT, who was helping my daughter move in Chicago.
