Txu Energy Reviews

Recently I received my electric bill for a guard-lite and was shocked to see that the price had increased by 100%. Previously the charge was $13.99 per month. This month it was increased to $27.24. I have been a guard-lite customer with TXU energy since 1975. The original cost was $3.83 plus tax per month. Over the next forty years it had increased to $13.99.

The guard-lite program was originally set up by TP&L and was marketed as a security light. Many farmers and ranchers and elderly people with dark alleys where no city lighting was provided signed up for this service. I cannot believe that the PUC allowed TXU Energy to increase this by such a large amount. I believe it is a rip-off. Thank you for listening to my complaints. I feel a large number of customers will have these units removed.

Back in August, 2014 our security light was disconnected - no matter the bulb had been out. I only paid 15.00 a month with this and NO meter was hooked up to it. I turned it off September 9, 2014.

I expected a disconnect fee (they removed the bulb) - but was shocked when they *SAID* (customer service) said the final bill was $110!!! Ok, I just paid it....

Now I'm getting collection calls and bills for an additional $67.00!!!! Due October 2, 2014.

WHAT is going on? Called customer service and asked for supervisors, etc..... Nobody was helpful in explaining why THE HUGE increase? 110 + 67 = 177.00 How can that be??? A 15.00/month security light goes up to 177???? In Two months?

This is what I figured..... $30 (past due) and 50/disconnect fee. That is eighty dollars (80)... ok then maybe the taxes were the next $30.... So like I said I paid it, with customer service saying it WAS the final bill.

In the end, I paid it, the 67.00, stating PAID IN PROTEST.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! NO explainations. Total Rip Off.

In 2011 I decided to go with txu and had to pay a 300 deposit. In 2013 I transferred my service to a new address and during the process requested an extension. Now its 2014 and I am moving again. Instead of doing a transfer I set up new service with txu at the new address and just called when I was ready to disconnect the old address. Before I called to disconnect I read the terms for receiving my deposit back and called to inform txu that I wanted it back and not to credit the new account. I was told to let the representative know when I call in to have the old address disconnected. So I did and what do they do? -credit on the new account! I called to get it resolved and they act as if they are looking a reason to not give me my deposit back. I was even told once that after a decision is made that they would get back with me. A decision for what?!! After two weeks of their mistake and every time I call in getting different answers, having to call back and request a supervisor just to make sure I was told the same thing, they finally told me it was in the mail... well that was 6 days ago and I am still waiting. As far as the service, I am on a month to month plan so that I can shop around but the plan that I was under a 1 year contract wasn't too bad, they said it was no longer available when I switched. The month to month has been higher though. There representatives need to be trained better. I would call in and get a generic answer before someone would actually review my account then open there mouth. This experience waiting on my deposit because of their mistake has been horrible. But I guess they don't care because their taking people money everyday.

I am writing because I switched from my electric company to TXU due to the announcement stating they can save me money with free weekends or week nights. As a military family, we are always looking for ways to save money and help other families that come into town asking about phone companies, electric companies, etc.......... I was paying under 300$ a month and made sure to have my bill on hand so when they asked me for kW usage I was ready. I also expressed the fact that I wanted to pay under 300$. Customer service pretty much in their happy go lucky way said that I would be happy with TXU's service. Well, low and behold, my first bill came in the amount of 651.00$. WTF? When I called back to complain, that happy go lucky voice went to condescending and rude. I have never been treated with such disrespect and degrading manor. They made me feel as though it was my fault. I immediately cancelled and went back to my old company. My bill for the winter season has been under 200$ each month. And when I switched, the bill went right back to being under 300$. I thank god I switched. TXU has ripped me off for the last time. I will ensure to tell anyone I can of this false advisertisement and highway robbery. Thanks for nothing TXU!

I'm so disappointed with txu energy. They charge you like crazy every month. Also I paid a 556 deposit to get theor service. In march I was told my contract was about to be up and I needed to renew and two different people told me. So I called a few weeks later and had to talk to an oversees lady and she told me it didn't. Well I assumed she didn't know what she was talking about since two people told me it was up. So they charged me 295 dollars for early cancelation and I call today and they say since I was told by a forigner that it didn't they can't reimburse me my money. I am so disappointed in txu I just want my money.
