I advertised a concrete job on Home Advisor and J.D. from United Construction Services contacted me, I subsequently hired him to remove and rebuild a concrete walkway, trench the yard for electrical cables, and pour a concrete pad for a spa. I paid him half the total price when i signed the contract.
His crew showed up on a Friday and started pouring the walkway, got about half done, left saying they would be back on Saturday and finish that day. They returned on Saturday and poured some concrete then came to me and told me they could not get in touch with J.D. and they needed money to purchase more bags of concrete for the project.
Feeling stuck i agreed to pay them the balance and they wrote me a receipt. They bought more concrete and finished pouring. They then told me that they had to leave and that they would come back monday and finish the project (take the frames off, trench the yard)
They have never been back. After they left and the concrete started drying and we noticed that the walkway surface was messed up.
I repeatedly called J.D. but he would never return my calls. After about 2 weeks i was able to get him on the phone and he came by to see the walkway. He acted suprised the project was not completed and promised to have his guys come out and finish.
That was 3 weeks ago and even after leaving him over 30 messages he will not return my calls. The walkway is messed up with chips and rough spots, the trenching was never done, and the frames were still on the concrete until i went out myself and took them off.
I did some research online and found that his name is not J.D. but J.R.Link. That is also the name he signed the back of my cancelled check with. Further research found that Pier Master is also his company. He also seems to own a company called Foundation Repair Services as well.
I paid this man to do a job and he failed to do what he was paid well for.
J.D/J.R/R.E.Link or whatever he is calling himself now has still not returned my numerous messages. Its obvious to me by now that this man is a crook.
Also i was told by the guy that is installing my patio that the concrete pad they did pour is so poor quality and thin that it will have to be replaced.
