US Career Institute Reviews

Us Career Institute AKA Weston Distance Learning or At Home Professions, were deceiving and manipulative from the very start.. I specifically requested medical billing & coding but was enrolled in medical claims & billing. After several phone calls to the school, no one let me know that I wasnt enrolled in the class I specified. Upon completion of the class I was sent a letter congratulating me on having completed the medical coding program and where I could schedule a state mandated test to complete my training. While taking the course I was working a full time job so the bulk of my work was done on weekends when there were no teachers available to answer my questions. Then when I would call Monday morning with my list of questions, I had to wait for a return call from one of the instructors. Eight times out of ten I missed their calls because I had to go to work. I feel the school was not at all what they claimed to be. All they were interested in was my money and not my success.

I entered Medical Transcription late in 2013. The course work was very basic. This concerned me a good deal. There was a lot of small print in the course work, advising you that what they were telling you does not conform to most of the standards that employers would be looking for (namely, AHDI, which, unbeknownst to me at the time, is apparently important). I completed the course in less than six months. I was promised monetary incentives for passing grades, and have yet to receive them. They continue to tell me that I am eligible for the money, and that they will send me a check in the mail at some point. Hgher action will be taken if I do not receive satisfaction as of the end of this year (2014).

Upon joining an online medical transcription forum, I found out that pretty much everyone in the field considers this school to be absolutely useless. This was unfortunately after the money-back period ended. Not knowing that AHDI was important, and being told about 5,000 times that I would "easily" find a job, I was very excited when I completed all my course work with a 95% average. Despite passing the course with flying colors, I have failed all job screenings. I have even kept my tests to look at as examples when applying for jobs, and I am constantly told that I do not transcribe correctly. The highest grade I have ever received while screening for a job was 81% (not good enough).

I wasted almost $1,000 on this website, and I still do not have a job in the field or in any fields related to it, due to not being able to even pass the initial screening.

Signd up for career training after reading about the guarantee to find a job in 6 months or get a refund of tiuition.

Completed training and did not find work. Asked for the refund and was told Idid not meet all the requirements. They hide the fact that you need to go online and complete some requirements that are not disclosed in writing.

This company has no active job recruitment services. You are on your own to find work.

I had to complain the BBB and the AG office of Colorado to get a partial settlement.

Avoid this company. You are better off finding a local training site that offers to actually find you a job.
