Do not switch to Verde Energy USA. They claim to save people money on electric but what they don't tell you is that they might double your electric rate at any point without notification. I received at $690 electric bill in the month of August and now they are not calling me back. They are a scam. They claim you enrolled in a variable rate plan but that is not told to you up front. How could a rate vary from .09 cents to .18 cents in one month?? It's absurd and they are not friendly to deal with either. Please don't make the same mistake I made.

Verde Energy is Crooked

OK, so the other day my gf filled out an online survey to try and get me an xbox live gold membership code. ( Shes so sweet) Anyways, the following day she got 6 bazillion calls from a number of random people soliciting different services. One of these happened to be Verde Energy USA. After several minutes she made the decision to try to get the fixed rate which was lower than our National Grid bill. I decided to take matters into my own hands and googled Verde Scams as the keywords. To my surprise there were several bad reviews and many complaints filed to the BBB stating that although they did receive the $75 rebate, they also received electric bills more than double what they were paying before. That doesnt sound right. A fixed rate lower than our current heating bill that doubles the bill? I will not recommend Verde to anyone. The customer service woman was rude.....and the gentlemen that spoke to my gf was a complete idiot. Also, to any others reading this who happened to be duped by these lowlifes id advise you call your service provider and request they block the company from utilizing your account information and it is at no cost to block. We did this and are pleased to announce our bill hasnt gone up. thank you google!

Good-old adjustable-rate scam

I received a call from an agent who works for Verde. Their current rate on offer for MA is 11.5 cents per KWH, while Eversource (NSTAR) rate is 15 cents. When I called back, the agent said that this rate is valid for 6 months, with no guarantee on future rates. Their business model, I suspect, is to jack up the price after the 6 months and recoup the money. No thanks!

I suggest using Mass Energy that gives wind and solar at a fixed price. It is also a well-respected non-profit with endorsements from Mass Audubon.

on october 14, 2014 I registered with Verde energey as they said they can make both of my utilitity bill lower every month. The service sounded good to me so i made the decision to go for it . That same day I had a change of thought after speaking with my fiance about what i had signed up for, he gave me his opinion and i chose to call Verde Energey back to cancel the services that should not have even went into there billing system yet as it was only a few hours later from when i registered with them.

When i called Verde energy at this number 1-800-388-3862 , they said everything was ok and they can deffivntely cancel the service for me. Over the next 5 months they have been charging my gas bill, basically they only cancelled there service on my electric but not my gas bill. They still have not refunded me after numerous attempts of me calling to request my refund. I have not even received a reply.I should not have been billed since i requested a cancellation the same exact day. I do have the right to cancel something if i dont want it.

I could see if i waited to cancel but it was the same exact day, what is there to charge ? a few minutes of phone time it took to register? couple hours i waited to cancel ? the point is i canceled there service before they could even charge me for there service, and they never removed them selves from my gas bill and continued to charge me for 5 months, each month i called them to try and resolve this issue and they have not resolved this at all , My next step is opening up a Law suit against there company for charging me for something i didnt want and not refunding me my money back.

This is from my complaint to the BBB about Verde Energy

I received a flyer in the mail from Verde Energy and decided to give them a try. They gave a $75 rebate, and I think that I know why. I checked my next energy bill with their charges on it and it shows that my bill more than doubled from what my previous bill was with my regular supplier. My billing summary stated that my charges were $189 higher this month than they were last month for "non energy" charges. I called my energy company and they said that if I hadn't chosen Verde, the $189 would not exist on my bill.

I am FURIOUS with Verde and think that they are a bunch of crooks. I cancelled a couple days after I realized this and they told me that it will take a couple more bills to completely cancel! I cannot afford to do this! I demand not to be charged! The billing practices with Verde are very unethical and very unprofessional. I checked on the 83 billing complaints they already have and most of them are stating what I am stating here. They were all getting bills that are twice as high than they were before Verde. If my bills are not excused, I will share my complaint as well as all of the others on every social media outlet that I can get my hands on. I also have a benefit at work that allows for free legal counsel and will also seek that if the bills are not excused.

Grandfather was talked into switching to Verde

My grandfather was urged over the phone to switch from AEP ohio power to Verde recently based solely on price. He was told nothing about his power would be from "100% green" sources and from them would be cheaper that his current providers "green" sources. I actually work for a utility in Michigan and have never seen this kind of deception when marketing your electrical service to a potential customer. Very shady in my opinion.

Also noticed fudged numbers about the prices in ohio on their website.

Amazing they are still a BBB A+ rated company.

they charged me double what the local utility would, and then when I cancelled, they started calling me constantly, from India, to get me to switch back. They are thieves, liars, and bastards. Don't use them. Don't reward them for this kind of behavior.

Charges Skyrocketed!

My bills have skyrocketed with Verde Energy. More than doubled in price! I am shocked that my bills have increased literally hundreds of dollars each month. I called Verde and was told there was a charge to have my meter checked! There is a problem here. I see from numerous complaints that I am not an isolated example. This company used to be TruSmart Energy. Verde has questionable ethics!! Do not use this supplier. I too have been scammed.

SCAM

fixed rate for six months. Was told would be notified one month prior to expiration. No notification rate went sky high. Called was willing to resign for another year if they would credit my account. They laughed.

I was contacted by Verde Energy USA ,telling me their company has the cheapest carrier price for my electric company. Which I have Ohio Edison as electric. I BELIEVED them they were cheaper. The company lied to me, after first billing my electric bill sky rocketed. Verde carrier for electric was more then my electric itself.

I called Ohio Edison complaining and they have CHEAPER RATE they said. I cancelled Verde and was charged another month for their service. Heres my bill now 281.66 which ohio edison is 113.63 plus 168.03 which is Verde charges. I am so upset over this. They take advantage of people and I told them I am on disability and cant afford a high price, verde kept saying they are CHEAPEST.

DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY. MY ELECTRIC TRIPLED.

Not good

Our bill immediately doubled and tripled. I do not recommend this company at all. No it was not stated that the energy was 'green' or anything else over the phone. Don't do it. We were told the rate was fixed and low. LIES. I do not recommend at all. Our bill went from $123 per month to 228, to $400...

No thanks. Everything the complaints say here, is all truth. No thank you. No. I can't wait until this billing cycle is over.
