VIP Transportation Reviews

  • Jul 23, 2014

On July 10th I had a reservation for transportation to the Honolulu airpost form my hotel in Waikiki. I had two suitcases. When driver arrived he said that one of the suitcases I had wasn't mine (?). Upon my inspection of the suitcase and showing him my own name tags I told him that indeed it was my suitcase. He loaded my suitcases and proceeded to pick up two other parties at two different hotels. At Honolulu airport his first drop-off was at Air New Zealand. (I later learned the couple dropped off at Air New Zealand was named "Cahill"). Then he dropped off the other couple and myself at United Airlines.

When he gave me my suitcases I noticed that one of them wasn't mine! He responded "See, I told you that one of the suitcases you took from the hotel wasn't yours!" Eventhough I thought I might be crazy I figured that he must be correct and realized that I had to quickly get back to the hotel to return the "Cahill" suitcase. (Keep in mind I was carefully watching th clock because I had a flight to catch.) Kowing the taxis are all downstairs I had to rent a cart ($4.00) and get a cab as fast as I could. When I arrived at the Ilima Hotel I had to ask the taxi driver to wait (remember: I had a flight to catch) The desk people could not find my suitcase!

They were confused, apologetic and frantically phoning their management. I had no choice but to leave in order to return to the Honolulu airport, eventhough I was without one of my suitcases. While on the freeway I received a phone call from VIPTrans saying that the driver mistakingly gave my suitcase to the couple dropped off at Air New Zealand and that I need to go there! So, I have to ask the taxi driver to drop me off at Air New Zealand. The fare was $85.00! I only had $20 bills so he got an even $100, which he probably deserved anyway.

Considering that Air New Zealand and United Airlines are at opposite ends of the terminal, I had to rent another cart ($4.00, this time on my c/c). Air New Zealand knew nothing about my suitcase, then I see Mrs. Cahill whose suitcase I had just dropped off at The Ilima! She told me that her "husband left around an hour ago to give my suitcase to United Airlines". However, she had no way of contacting her husband because he had no cell phone. She left to go look for him and soon after she returned she said "there he is!"

In the meantime VIPTrans phoned her and said that they sent a driver to The Ilima Hotel to retrieve her suitcase. Mr. Cahill told me to go to UAL ticket counter #10. I grabbed my cart with my other suitcase and carry-on on it and race up to United Airlines. After a long interrogation by the UAL representative she finally released my suitcase to me, the I had to go through a 40 minute TSA line. I barely made my flight. This mess was 100% due to the VIP Trans driver's mistake.

I contacted the supervisor for VIPTrans Honolulu/Oahu "Sherienne" who asked me to write a detailed email about the whole ordeal and include an attachment of the taxi receipt. I did so a week ago and have heard nothing form them! They have not responded to my email inqueries and not responded to my voicemails. I have been extremely patient and cannot comprehend why the company won't reimburse me for all my expenses and trouble regarding this incident. Morever, I cannot understand why no one from VIPTrans will contact me or respond to my inqueries regarding my "rip-off" on 07/10/13.
