I attended westwood college in Arlington VA for Health Information Technology for 1 year. After, learning more about the CAHIM process I took it upon myself to research it more. My suspicion rooted from the lack of knowledge my president had within that area so I just knew they were full of lies. Unfortunately, I found out that they lied to me and told me that we were getting accredited soon and CAHIM said otherwise. After a institute has been in candidacy status for over 2 years you have to reapply.
What my school did not tell me is that I can't sit for my RHIT without the accreditation, so they insisted I stay and spend more money while they go through budget cuts and fire teachers. Furthermore, leaving me with my chairman to teach every class I have, which will ultimately alter the amount of education I will recieve. Did I mention you can't transfer from that school at all? NOTHING NOT 1 CREDIT. Soooooooooo sadly that the government insist on allowing this institute to run.
ADVISE: NEVER GO TO A SCHOOL FOR PROFIT, OR NATIONALLY ACCREDITED!
Westwood College has a CEO who is incompetent, does not have the credentials to run a college, abuses employees and misleads students only for his financial gain. They have a very violent hostile work environment and do not allow employees to take earned vacation time. This institution is disgraceful. It draws Federal Funds for its own financial gain. Their Online Dean does not have a degree. They are a joke and need to be shut down.
Westwood college tries to pride themselves on being an acredited college. They are quick to max out your financial aid and max out your student loans. In return you have to end up paying them money out of pocket. When you call them for help and they do not get back with you any time. They say they are going to do something to help and never do. Yet when financial aide or money is due they are quick to take it. They do not try to help any indviuals and no one is helpful in any means you are on hold for hours. Then when you do happen to get to the proper person they dont know how to help you and never get back to you in time...... I would recomend all student who want to go back to school to stay away from west wood college they are about the money and not helping others
Westwood college The individuals from this school are in on everything as well. Especially a Jim Pavlik, and a Bernard Alex. I am a combat veteran attending this school and using my G.I. Bill at the moment. I was diagnosed with combat ptsd back in 2010, which i thought was a joke. However i started at westwood college back in august of 2012 and was doing great at first. Then one day around December 2013 i started having flashbacks to the events from when i was in Afghanistan, i would have nightmares as well. This started to affect me pretty bad. I did what i knew was right and informed my instructors of this as well as my program chair. I was then scheduled to take a class on terrorism being that it is a required course for the Criminal Justice program. I attempted to talk to my program chair and explain to him that i did not feel comfortable with the class and that it was very difficult for me to be in there. He pretended to care as i told him the class project that determined whether you pass is an essay where you have to pretend to be a terrorist group planning an attack on a major U.S. City. The instructor did work with me, however i was not able to pass the course due to some minor details along with this. The following term which is the one i am attending now i was placed in an online version of the terrorism class. I attempted to talk to my program chair to inform him that i did not want to take the class but he did not care and did not withdraw me from the class. I am most likely giung to fail the class for the second time in a row and will be stripped of my G.I. Bill if i do so, and it is all thanks to the program chair for the Criminal Justice program Bernard Ales sr. upland California.
I attended westwood college and graduated in 2010 and received my bachelors degree in criminal justice. at the time i was there we were told that we were accredited and we will be fine. i was paying loans even when i was attending westwood. when i started getting payment books to payback the loans and saw the high monthly payments i went to the financial aid in the 5th floor, one of the finalcial aid lady told me to call them (sallie mae) and not bring it to them. they told me my issue was with the lender (sallie Mae) not westwood. the proffessors where all Chicago/illinois state cops and as students we asked them if its true about westwood college being a ripoff, they said no youll be fine! now im here at 28 years old with a worthless degree and over 85 thousand dollars in debt. i dont know what to do. i tried to sue them but my lawyer told me it was worthless... the only thing ill get from the lawsuit is slapping westwood on the wrist. to all looking for a school to go please avoid westwood college ohare campus or any westwood campuses around the chicago land area. lisa madigan filed a lawsuit against westwood college and i never heard anything from that. if any student attended westwood college in illinois and are in the same situation as me you not the only one. i dont know what to anymore... the loans i acquired from westwood is my mortage my car loan, all the bad things that keep u down. please seriously avoid this school everyday i gotta wake up with a dozen missed calls from sallie mae and ECMC its sad but true. any help is welcome.
I inquired and made an appointment at Westwood after my grandmother passed in 2010. I was looking to re-build my lfe and start a new career. I went with my now late mother and spoke to an admissions counselor. She told me it would be around $70,00.00 for the Bachelor of Science program in Criminal Justice. I was shocked, but she kept insisting it was worth it. She made it sound like it was so PRESTIGIOUS so to be ACCEPTED into this insitution of "higher learning," that I would have to take an "entrance exam." Boy, was I duped. I went to an all-girls' Catholic, private high school, top of my class. I went to another college prior to this, it was accredited. My addmissions conselor NEVER said Westwood was NOT accredited, nor that I would not be able to transfer my BS or credits. I now got stuck with an APEX loan, because Westwood MAXED out my Federal Loan AND my Pell grants for life. I am so screwed. I cannot even go to a community college now. There is NO MONEY left! Plus, they push upcoming graduates into their "MBA" program! They are VULTURES!!! They now think they can get more government Master's $$ if they can branwash you into coming back. A girlfriend of mine had to change her phone number because shs was getting SO MANY harrassing phone calls from a Master's Program recruiter to sign up!! There are at least 20 other students that feel the same way. We want what ever APEX payments that have been extorted out of us to be REIMBURSED! This is NOT going away! Denver was just the beginning!
