World Law Debt Services Reviews

  • Aug 4, 2014

World Law Group, World Law Processing, World Law Debt, Orion (Worthless). I enrolled in this program back in 2/2012. They cold called me and promised to settle my credit card accounts for 30-40% of what I owed. I was struggling to make ends meet, but I didn't even have a late payment when I enrolled. I enrolled 4 accounts totalling around $15k in debt with these clowns. They said to stop paying my creditors and send them a check every month, instead. I was told that after 18 months of payments, I would have enough to settle my accounts. They also said if I could put extra money in my account, they would settle all of my accounts sooner than planned. I paid $813 per month to World Law Group and it was held in escrow by Global Client Solutions. World Law withdrew around $90 a month for their "Administrative" fees. They also did two one-time payemnts of around $1200 (I can't remember now) as scheduled. They did tell me about these fees upfront, however. They just didn't tell me they were worthless and were being paid to do very little.

I made my payments for 20 months. There were two months that I was a little short on funds, so I only paid the $90 "administrative" fee those two months. I enrolled 4 accounts in this program, but 2 were very small and I only enrolled them because I figured if I was going to do this program, I might as well resolve all of my debts. World Law actually settled these 2 small accounts as promised. Don't get too excited, they settled around $1800 of the $15000 I enrolled. After that, I didn't hear from them again, except their stupid monthly check-up email. I finally started badgering them on what was going on with my 2 remaining accounts. It wasn't until after extensive badgering that they finally told me that they don't negotiate with Bank of America. What? Why didn't anyone tell me that from the beginning? They knew from the first day that I had Bank of America accounts. Since my Bank of America accounts didin't go to a 3rd party collection agency, I was told I was on my own with the Bank of America accounts. These were the accounts that I actually wanted help with, as they were large debts.

I negotiated with Bank of America all by myself since World Law wouldn't. Bank of America hates World Law Group too. So, I negotiated 2 different accounts with Bank of America. After negotiating these accounts, I had to make sure to have the funds to pay these account. So, I gave Bank of America the account information for my escrow account as provide to me by World Law Group. Guess what, Bank of America tried to make the draft and it was declined. World Law told me that I tried to make the draft too quickly for them to authorize the draft. I was supposed to send World Law a copy of the settlement offer letter and then give them "a few days" to authorize the draft. I called Bank of America back to see if we could settle for the same amount. After some negtiating, Bank of America agreed to settle but would no longer accept my escrow account information or anything associated with World Law Group. Back on the phone with World Law now, I was told that they could be the funds into my personal checking account to cover the draft as long as they had a copy of the settlement offer letter. Back on the phone with Bank of America now, and set up the draft for 1.5 weeks (9 business) days later. This was supposed to be more than enough time for World Law to transfer money into my account as they promised. Do you think they transferred the funds? I asked World Law what happened and why I never got the funds. She said she had no excuse and didn't know. She obviously didn't care either. Luckily I was smart enough not to trust these clowns and made sure I had the funds to cover the settlement, but if I wasn't able to do that I would probably be in the middle of being sued right now. Oh yeah, I said I had 2 Bank of America account. The 2nd Bank of America account was handled in an almost identical manner as the 1st one. World Law leaving me to negotiate and pay the settlement with no help or funds from them.

So, I negotiated and paid the 2 Bank of America accounts that constituted the bulk of my debt all by myself. Which begs the question of why I paid these "administrative" fees to World Law. I shouldn't have and I hope that will keep you from making this mistake.

Its now been 30 months or so since I enrolled in the World Law program. All of my accounts are settled, but with very little thanks to World Law. I'm now completely broke because I had to use other money besides the money in my escrow account that was supposed to be used to settle my debts.

My accounts are settled, but I still have $6500 (this is whats left after World Law's "administrative fees") in an escrow account that was set up by World Law and is being administrated by Global Client Solutions. I just received a letter from Global Client Solutions today indicating they will no longer be doing business with Orion (World Law Group) and will be closing my account and sending me the account balance directly. I'm so glad as I was beginning to wonder if I would have to sue to get my $6500 back and whether it is worth it to sue for $6500. My fingers are crossed that I just got lucky and I will get all of the money back from my escrow account becasue Global Client Solutions is done with World Law Group.

My advice to anyone who is struggling with your debts is to call your creditor(s) and deal with them directly. World Law is a waste of time and money and won't do what they say. Had I not been able to scrope together and borrow what I needed to cover the settlements for my last 2 accounts, I would be in a dismal mess right now. Don't enroll with anyone whose first instructions are to stop paying your creditors. World Law will try to scare you say they know how to handle the collection calls and will keep your creditors from tyring to strong-arm you. I'm certainly not a fan of Bank of America, but they were very nice and way easier to deal with than World Law. At least Bank of America did what they said they would.
