I recieved a billl from this company for $298.00 after filling out a free listing for advertising. My employee calls them regarding the bill and was told that it had to be paid or it will go to collections, they were very rude and ended up hanging up. I then called myself and kindly asked them to remove the listing and I am no longer interested in their services. They began to argue with me stating that they can remove it but they will put it into collections and I will continue to receive a bill until I paid. I was specifically told that the bill will continue to get higher until I paid. The whole point about this, is that it is a scam. They send you a card to fill out that says free all over it, and then send you a bill. They are very rude and adamant about making companies pay for something that they advertise as free. This is false advertisement.

YPedia Scam Artists

Talk about your most fraudulent, deceptive and unethical marketing practices. I too received the form stating this is not a bill however, by signing the card and sending back authorizes them to send you an invoice! WOW!! Already being billed for services I didn't purchase! Then, when you call them to explain the bill they pretty much state you're an idiot for not reading the Terms and Conditions on the back, in small print of course. Oh, they will cancel any future billing since it does lock you in for 12 months but as a courtesy only bill you for 6 months and still have to pay the invoice!. Once I threatened BBB, State Attorney's office and hearing from my lawyer, I quickly received an email canceling the invoice and no longer obligated to pay. My advice, never sign anything as a business owner and call the number on the form to ask what this is regarding. You'll find out quick what a scam it really is.

I have been a victim of a deceptive Mailing from a company called " Yellow Pages Online services". I received a mailing on July 21 2014 from this company to verify address of business. Three weeks later, I received a bill for online services for the amount of 369.00. After review of the posed invoice, I called the customer service number to try to resolve this unfortunate issue. They said that I agreed to the terms of use. I said I don't have or never read any terms of use for the business address I verified. I asked to speak to a supervisor and shortly was connected to a person named Louis. When I told him of the mistake they made, and all I gave them was verification of my address, and no services was wanted or agreed to. He yelled at me stating "it was to bad you didn't read it, it isn't our fault" I asked if I could meet him on the charges pro rate it for one month. He said "Why would I do that." At that point I got very irate, and angry. I said I believe this was a scam and i'm reporting him. I quickly rebutted his argument where as he then hung up on me.

I have done my research and found this same company has a Injunction from this practice in Texas. Is being investigated By the Oregon AG office. Has a "F' Grade with the BBB with over 300 reports. among other other things.

I am now in talks with attorneys in Texas and Washington D.C. on this matter. I am filing grievances and reports with governing body's of consumer protections for the state and local jurisdictions.

I currently am collecting documentation and will have it provided to this report after with legal consul.

We are doing the same thing

We are doing the same thing. We have fallen victim to the same thing, but we aren't as gullible as they would like us to be. I will be filing a complaint with the FTC as well. I am also aware of their injuction in the State of Texas, but we are a California based small business. So, now this is a federal matter. I will vigorously defend our company's good name.

I just received an invoive in the mail ststing that I owed them 461.80 for services that I did not agreed upon. I called the 1-888 number listed in the invoice to speak to a representative about my invoice. Once the automated system picked up it said if you know your party extention please dial it now. If you are calling about an invoice that you received please wait for a customer service representative. This threw a red flag.

Any reputable company with an automated system will have several categories such as, for sales press 1, for listings press 2, for billing press 3...so on so forth. Once I got with a customer service representative i politely began to speak about this invoice that I received for services that I have never signed up for. This representative automatically raised his voice and began to become argumentative and defensive. This told me that this is not the first time they have had this happened. The representative told me that I signed up for services and signed a contract that my business will be placed in their serch engine, that no one has ever herd of before and that my listed categories accrued the bill that i have received. I politely explined to the representative that my town is only 15,000 people and there is no need fo rthis service to please cancell it. He began to say that i had to pay for the bill or they will send me to collections.

I have worked real hard to have perfect credit and now this company is threatening me to send me to collections for a service that I did not want or signed up for. I asked to speak to a manager and the representative said he was the manager. then I asked for his supervisor, then said here is nothing that no one here that will help you and the next step is sending you to collections and reporting it to the credit bureaus and hanged up. I called back and when a new representative picked up the phone I asked to speak to a manager, they asked for my name and I could hear them in the background saying I just spoke to that "fool" give me the phone. when the same representative got on the phone i told him to send me a new invoice via email with the contrat that I signed and I will be posting everyhting in the internet and placing a formal complaint with the BBB. The convestation was more in depth, but you can see how bad they are. Do not get taken by these people they are a complete scam and should be sued.

Ypedia is a scam

I am going to thought exactly the same thing. I don't know what to do now. I also reported them to BBB. I'm a new business owner. I don't want this to ruin my credit. I was about to pay for it through phone. But after I saw so many online scams reports about them I hold back on that payment.

This company sent me a letter disguising themselves as Yellowpages, but they have no affiliation with the company at all. They sent a letter telling me I needed to update my information for Yellowpages, and that it was free. I then received a bill for $329.00, saying I signed a contract for listing my business for a year in two categories.

When I called their customer service number, I was met with very rude individuals, who told me I would just get sent to collections. I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor, and was told for many weeks that the supervisors were all out of town until the following week. This continued for several weeks, every time the customer service representatives became increasingly rude and would start yelling matches with me. Many of them claimed that they were a supervisor, and that they were the highest in the company.

After this started happening, I realized it was a scam, and reported them to the BBB, who are holding an investigation.I have recieved new invoices that are higher in price, but when I call the company now, they send me to a blank voicemail that just beeps at me.

Do not fall for this scam. They have been under investigation by the BBB from numerous clients. They are rude, they lie, and they are a false business.

We received a letter suppposedly from the yellow pages asking to confirm our address. We had recently moved so our address was listed incorrectly. We made the change and mailed it back. Note this letter stated on it that it was not a bill. Then we started receiving letters stating we owed them over $300 for this change. I e-mailed them and heard nothing back. Got a second letter. This time with late fees. I called them. The first rep I talked to decided it was easier to hang up on me then to discuss this scam billing. Called again. After a 15 minute wait on hold I spoke to Malvin who assured me he was a manger. He said there was nothing he could do and they would turn it over to collections. We will never pay this bill as we believe it to be a scam and that it isn't even truly a comapny associated with the yellow pages. Just wanted to let people know to beware of this scam. Feel free to contact Malvin at [email protected] . He is a "Manager" and I am sure he would personally love to hear from everyone that has received this same scam billing.

Our business received a piece of mail from a company that used the Yellow Pages Logo and referred to themselves as Yellow Pages Online Services asking me to "Verify" my listing and stating that "This Is Not A Bill" in very large font on the front of the statement. One of our employee filled out the form and sent it in.

A couple of weeks later, I receive an invoice from the company in the amount of $361.90. I called the 800# to ask why I was receiving the bill and I learned that this company is NOT Yellowpages.com as they have led me to believe and that what we had filled out had given them permission to charge us $329 for six months of a listing on an UNKNOWN website called Ypedia.com. I told them that was not the yellow pages and he said they were the "Yellow Pages Of The Digital Age"

I asked them to remove the charges as we were misled to sign their form and did not want this service but they have refused. I asked them to mail me a copy of the contract that our employee signed but they are not able to find it. They threatened us to send us to collector and attorney. I told them that I need their attorney or legal representative's contact info so that I can have our attorney contact them regarding this fraud but they refused to give us any information and just rudely hung up.

Last but not least, neither Ypedia nor Yellow Pages Online Services is a taxable entity in Texas. I just want all new business owners out there to be aware that YELLOW PAGES ONLINE SERVICES is not the real Yellow Pages! No matter how they tried to threaten you, do not pay this SCAM company!!! Stand up and fight for your legal right.

I had a similar experience. This company sent me a letter disguising themselves as the original Yellow Pages and that I needed to update my information for free. The letter even said that it was not an invoice. I updated the information and mailed it back only to receive an invoice for almost $400! I called the number provided immediately and when someone finally answered after calling almost 50 times, they passed the call to 2 different people before going to voice mail! I told them that I wanted to cancel right away but they would not process my request!

Beware of these Scammers!

My only wish is that I have read earlier reports on BBB and the Ripoff Report!

After opening a new retail business, I received numerous letters from Yellow Pages Online Services requesting that I verify my business address, phone number, e-mail, and website address. I ignored the first 10 letters until I received the last several which said something to the effect of urgent or immediate response required. This company is not the real Yellow Pages. Clearly, this company is trying to portray that it is the real Yellow Pages with a deceptively similar logo next to its company name, Yellow Pages Online Services.

To get them to quit sending me the information required notices, I returned the form with my company e-mail address and website URL. The whole thing appeared to be a request for information which would go in the Yellow Pages portion of the phone book. At no time did I ever believe that I was agreeing to a service where this company would create an ad for me on a site I didn't even know existed. Furthermore, I have my own marketing partner and have no desire for a service like this. A few weeks later, I received a bill from Yellow Pages Online services for $327.80 which included a $298 charge for some service I didn't request, $49.95 for something else not clearly itemized, and a late fee of $49.95.

I refuse to pay for this scam! They have called and harassed me from so many different phone numbers to no end, telling me they turned me over to a collection agency and demanding payment. There is absolutely no reasoning with them. I told them to sue me and they told me they can't over such a small amount? I asked them to provide me with a copy of the document I signed. They told me they couldn't. I told them I wouldn't talk to them until they did. I finally received the document and, quite frankly, it looks like they doctored it.

I want to warn anyone who receives anything from Yellow Pages Online Services to stay away. The form they send you over and over and over until you are tired of it and respond is deceptive and deceiving, possibly even a trademark infringement if you compare it to the real Yellow Pages. And, the collection agency, Barnaby and Wolfe, 209 West 2nd Street, Suite 287, Fort Worth, TX 76102 is clearly involved in this scam. I have never dealt with such mean people who don't care about anything but scamming people at $327.80 a pop. What a racket they have going on there if people do pay this fraudaulent bill.

We are a small boutique in the state of Minnesota. We moved from one location into a new location. While in the transition of making the move, we received a postcard from "The National YellowPages" asking us to update our information with them. Making sure our address, phone number, website, etc was correct and matched the information they had.

I made the corrections (with our new address) thinking this was a legitimate company in our local area. The postcard did NOT say anything about signing up for advertising and fees, etc.

The way that I interpreted the card was that they realized we moved and wanted to update our online and physical location information... plain and simple.

It wasn't until 3 months later we received a "LATE" Bill in the mail for $329 plus a late fee of $32.90.... What?!?!

We were baffled when we saw this. First of all, we never received the first bill.... And secondly, we couldn't believe that we were receiving a bill at all.

I immediately called the company and spoke to a extremely RUDE gentleman on the other end of the line. I tried to tell him that this was all a misunderstanding and I wanted him to terminate what ever type of business it was that he thought we had together. He told me that that was totally not do-able and that if I didn't pay the bill, it would be turned over to a collection agency. I said that I too had my own legal person and that I would leave it all in her hands. He said "that would be fine butI would still end up having to pay this bill"

And here's the kicker, apparently they were planning on billing again after 6 months because once you send the card in, it renews itself and you're billed all over again.

From what I have seen here, this is a fraudulent company and a scam and in NO WAY am I going to pay this bill.

Since the paper bill, I have also now received a email demanding payment.

A deceptive mail from Yellow Page Online Services, which we thought was Yellow Page, marked "Not a bill",asked us to confirm our business information. In April 2014, we received a mail from Yellow page Online Service, the mail was just a piece of paper marked " Not a bill", asked us to confirm our business information and sign. Since we have been doing advertise on local Yellow Page, so we thought this letter was just Yellow Page verifying our business information, so we signed. A month later, we received a bill of $300+ from Yellow Page Online Services saying they did online advertise for us on Ypedia.com which we never requested. We realized it's a scam. We called Yellow Page Online services customer phone number, asked them if they were same as Yellow Page, answered "No", so we told them, we never meant and requested to do advertise with Ypedia.com, please cancel the Advertise listing on Ypedia.com. The representative said" OK, cancelled". Then couple of month later, we received another mail same as the first one requesting us pay $298.00 plus late fee, total of $327.80, we called and sent email again, telling them, it's a mistake, a scam, we canceled the listing. they ignored us. Recently we received letter from their lawyer to collect the payment, and the lady even threatened us that she would be calling us everyday till she gets money. We are dental office, they keep calling us daily affecting our normal patient care.

I was sent a letter in the mail to claim my FREE listing. It said agree to the fine print but there wasn't any. Multiple spots on the letter stated that the listing was free. A few weeks later I was sent a bill with for $350 for their services. I immediately called and they said that I would not have to pay. A few months later a collections agency is calling me.

They go by Yellow Page Online Services and also Yellow Pages United. This is a huge scam and simply do a search on the internet to see what they are doing to people.

  • Mar 5, 2015

Yellow pages United call me and told me I owe them $792.00 for outstanding bills from 2013. Someone named Chad called and said he have my signature for an invoice I signed and that he need to collect $792.00. After looking up the company online I found out they were a scam. I reported them to the BBB, the Attorney General and the FTC. Do not fall for this scam and do not pay them anything.

I got hit with the Yellow Pages Scam (YPedia.com)- Now getting a surprise bill for $329.00 is one thing calling to attempt to clear up the confusion with the most unprofessional group of drones and supervisors is what brought me to the ROR, Yelp, BBB, consumer rip off, Florida Attorney General, Texas Attorney General and more...

I called and was greeted by an ill spoken drone named Bryonna ID# 766 who like to use slang like "Honey", Axe as in Ask you a question?.. but okay even that I can work with, what I couldn't/ wouldn't work with is Mss. Bryonna telling me "If you know how to read which apparently you can as you're reading the entire document to me, you should have flipped over the document and located the bold writing that this is a paid advertisement" THAT statement blew me away! I asked Drone 766 why she cared that I wanted to resolve this it wasn't coming out of her salary and she didn't have to pay the bill?. I explained that I do not own the company and the document on hand states FREE all over it, in fact it states FREE a total of 3 times in bold on the paper work. Drone 766 also took delight in advising us that if we didn't pay her company attorneys would come after us and also add 10% in late fees if not paid before the due date- when I asked her to stop cursing, yelling and calling me Honey she stated "What's wrong Honey gunna lose ya job for signing something you shouldn't have?" at this point I asked her what she made for a living a whopping 7 bucks an hour? advised her I was recording the call and told her she disgusted me before hanging up ( she refused to transfer me to a Manager) and called back

The paper work I speak of is a little flyer that came in the mail claiming that for FREE Yellow Pages Online Service would make corrections to an already existing FREE listing on my behalf as a courtesy... move forward 3 weeks and I am holding a bill for a 6 month agreement at $329.00 it should be noted that YP stamped this paper work as received on Jan 22, 2015 today is 02/16/2015 and drone 766 couldn’t actually show me a listing! THERE IS NO LISTING. I called the Real Yellow Pages and found out what this Scam is really about and how they spend their days speaking to victims like myself.

We spoke to Malvin Sando who claims to be the Customer Service Resolution Manager on a recorded line of course; his resolution was and I quote "instead of calling to complain about possible scams and invoices your company doesn't want to pay maybe you should spend more time coaching your employees to read documents before they sign them" This not only blew away my HR Director but the COO of the company. We asked Malvin to cancel the agreement to which he chuckled and stated it was too late but moving forward they wouldn't do business with us anyways? WHO SAYS THAT?

Myself and my team have attempted to reach someone much higher than Malvin and he shot us down, he backed the verbal abuse from his employee and said he was present for the entire conversation and he would look into her approach with customers?

Needless to say we will NEVER pay the bill and have sent everything over to our in house attorneys to look over. when I began to dig around I stumbled upon nothing but complaints on this scam company - I have pasted information on them from the Attorney General in Florida as this is an ongoing issue with YPedia and hopefully soon the FEDS shut them down.

How to Protect Yourself: Yellow Pages Invoice Scam

Source: Florida Attorney General's Office

Small businesses all over the country are receiving solicitations that appear to be invoices from the local Yellow Page Directory. The invoices are usually being sent by out-of-state companies that publish a directory with a limited number of businesses and limited availability. Many directories do not get published. Before you pay an invoice for a Yellow Page Directory advertisement, familiarize yourself with the following:

Why are the invoices confusing?

Most invoices contain the popular “walking fingers” logo and the name “Yellow Pages.” They will often include the consumer’s phone number, an account representative’s name, and a request to fix any incorrect information. This is a deceptive technique used to trick the consumer into thinking there is an established relationship. “THIS IS NOT A BILL” may appear on the invoice, but returning it may commit the consumer to a future bill. Read the invoice carefully, including the terms and conditions.

Please note courts have ruled that any business can use the logo and the “Yellow Pages” term.

Is it a Solicitation or an Invoice?

If it is a solicitation, the consumer has no obligations. The United States Postal Department requires the following disclaimer to be on all solicitations, so consumers should look for it on the "invoice:"

THIS IS NOT A BILL. THIS IS A SOLICITATION. YOU ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO PAY THE AMOUNT STATED ABOVE UNLESS YOU ACCEPT THIS OFFER.

To avoid scams, obtain the following information about the company before responding:

Who will be receiving copies of the directory?

Are the directories free? If not, how much do they cost?

Where will the directory be distributed?

Call the local Yellow Pages to learn if they are associated with the company sending the invoice

Remember: Directories given exclusively to consumers who purchase advertisements, and statewide directories may be of little or no use.

Research the Company.

Contact your local Better Business Bureau or government agencies like the County Consumer Affairs Bureau, the Office of the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission to determine whether any complaints have been filed, or lawsuits are pending. For out of state companies, contact the appropriate agencies and authorities in the state where the company is based.

This complaint is about Yellow Pages Online Services, a company that pretends to be the actual Yellow Pages.

I received a form in the mail to verify my business for my yellow pages account. It was deceivingly worded as if I needed to do this immediately, and even said "this is not a bill."

Then, less than 2 weeks later I received a bill for $329! I did not authorize this so I called and said I am not interested and will not be paying. She said she would only charge me the 6 months instead of the 12 months. I said I was not paying and am not interested.

She threatened me that they would send my bill to collections and that we would be hearing from their lawyers.

I just want to cancel whatever kind of scam this is and for them to leave me alone.

A phone confirmation of address and phone number confirmation was given of October, 2012. It was not explained this was for a SEO package. On December 23, 2013 they called demanding $899.95 or they would ruin my credit so the amount was paid. On December 30, 2014 I was once again contacted for money that I owed. This company is a rip off. They go by several names, Yellow Page Listing, Yellow Pages Listing. The Yellow Page Listing, and The Yellow Pages Listing. You use the corporate address in DE on the BBB site and you get 2 addresses in PA. I would like my money back as I have no need for the SEO package and only confirming the address and phone number not knowing you would get a bill later is not a honest company. In thie case they have taken advantage of a SENIOR CITIZEN.

  • Jan 7, 2015

These guys are a scam. They pretend to be the local yellow pages and simply want to "verify" that your info is correct if you sign and mail it back to them they will try to bill you $329 every 6 months. Complete waste of time trying to call them... their customer service is non-existent. They hold their ground threaten to send to collections. I hope the real YP sues them.

They go under serveral aliases and most likely recycle their domain names after enough people trash them online:

File with the Texas Attorney General Please!!

This company is run by Topaz Promotions LLC. The person who started the business is Steven W Anglin, and he lists Barbara J Sommer as the manager of the company. It turns out that Barbara J Sommer has been in trouble before with the Attorney General in the state of Texas before. She and Steven are both living in luxurious houses according to the Dallas County, TX tax roll website. Nothing wrong with being successful. But you are not allowed to be successful by scamming others with your fraudulent business practices. They both deserve to be in prison as far as I'm concerned. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General (you can do it online), and I can only hope that others do the same. I'm personally not scared of these bullies. I will not pay them, and I will show up at their house to let them know if that is what it takes.

Do these clowns actually file on your credit report?

I like almost everyone else here, accidentally signed and returned the post card for the "free listing". Anyways, six months later I get a call from some guy at "Barnabay and Wolfe" claiming that my account had been sent to collections for this "debt". Anyways, I'm obviously still not going to pay this, but what I want to know is if anyone has actually seen this fake debt show up on their credit file?

As with the prior complaint, I am a new business. I received a form that on the face of it was only asking to verify my company name and the categories under which I would lik to have a listings (free), which is how traditional directories have always operated. (Then they could upsell with more prominent paid ads.)Then I recieved a bill for 6 months for $329!.

I called the customer service number listed on the invoice, got somehone on the line who said that they would send me a copy of the document that I signed that would show very clearly the terms where I would incur these fees. (There is no way that it did.)

I told them that knowing that they could not produce this, that I was refusing to pay this invoice (and obviously cancel). It has been 2 business days since that call and I have received nothing from them. I have tried dozens of times today to connect with someone to find out the status of the reversal of charges, but now a call to their customer service line automatically goes to voicemail. The mail box is full. Any help to resolve this will be greatly appreciated.
