Yodle, Inc Reviews

Yodel’s product is not a onetime purchase but an ongoing service relationship. I submit the following experience to help others determine whether this is the kind of company you would choose to have an ongoing relationship with?

I was solicited by Eric Merryfield who set up a phone conference to discuss how his company could allegedly increase my internet sales. They prepared a very slick live "on screen" presentation that went on about consumer's growing use of the internet for their purchasing decisions. It's makes you feel you will be left in the dust if you don't get on board and their presentation is intended to demonstrate they are the best suited to do so for you. I don't blame them for making a convincing sales presentation but what follows if you don't say yes is a deep discount provided you sign up immediately. It includes all the same tactics of car sales where they "speak with the manager" to have them authorize the special deep discount that you can keep for the life of the program - if you say yes immediately!!

Don't make the mistake of thinking that they will allow you to change your mind. They are unbelievably adamant on billing you once they believe they have authorization to do so. They don't even find it necessary to follow their own documentation procedures as I will explain.

Several days after the presentation where I am alleged to have agreed to their terms over the phone, they sent an electronic signature authorization to confirm the agreement. Regardless whether you sign or not, they will bill you!

My sales agent Eric stated their contract is a 3 month minimum agreement with a month to month thereafter. The email confirmation form said that unless you cancel prior to the billing cycle it automatically rolls over for another 3 month period? Wouldn't this make it "effectively" a 6 month minimum contract? Not exactly the kind of change that makes one comfortable starting up a long term relationship where the supplier holds the keys to your internet marketing identity... Especially when they suggest you direct any existing domain names etc. to their new website (created for you) that has a special phone number they own. What happens if you cancel and your entire internet identity is directed to a phone number they own???

I called Eric to question the language in the contract they asked me to ratify online but he never returned my phone calls. Only when I sent Eric an email stating I wish to cancel did I hear from someone about my concerns.

John Wigley called to say that the individual leaving messages to finish out my new website would have taken care of my billing concerns. Does it seem odd to anyone but me the IT guy would have the authority to resolve my contract dispute and have failed to mention it on the messages he left? Why did he have time to mention what he needed from me and not what I needed from them? Why didn't he say he was responding to my messages for Eric or better yet, why didn't Eric return my calls about billing concerns? Why did it take my notice of cancellation to have someone specifically address my billing questions?

I explained to John Wigley that I lost confidence in their organization due to the manner my concerns were ignored until I sent my cancellation notice but John explained that all sorts of costs had already been incurred by his company so there was no way to cancel the contract. He ignored my pointing out that I did not agree the contract was executed without the electronic signature authorization they sent because the procedures "they established" was never completed. This fell on deaf ears and John said they would effectively continue the run the ad campaign "I allegedly agreed to" regardless whether I contributed anything to the website requests to which I said "what's the point f running a still born ad campaign when I have no intention of contributing to the building of the website and I'm serving notice of cancellation even before you begin?
