Had I done my due diligence and investigated this individual and his business practices properly, I would have gone running and screaming for the hills instead of signing the contract he prepared for me. He actually had me believing he was a competent and sane individual. In fact, I remember when he left my home, I actually thanked God that I had the good fortune to find him. Unfortunately for me, time and experience proved otherwise. If you hire him, you may want to prepare yourself for the possibility that he may not show up to paint your home when he commits to doing so and he also may not even bother to call you to let you know of his change in plans. He may also angrily answer the phone when you call to inquire as to his whereabouts and he may further act like you are wasting his time. He may also not do the painting himself, as he commits to doing when you sign the contract, but may instead "hire" poor, destitute and desperate individuals who show up at your home bedraggled and exhausted and who may be former felons. And then to rub salt into your wounds, he may upcharge you for items that he imagines in his strange little brain that you are responsible for, but that you are most certainly not. The coup de gras, of course, is that he treats his workers, who honestly do the best they can, like migrant workers who beg for work and then pray that their overseer pays them for their labor. Which he doesn't. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that you are an unwilling participant in their exploitation. The entire experience may all feel like a bad nightmare, except of course, you're awake the entire time its happening to you. Save yourself the aggravation and headache, hire an outfit who you can actually vet and who does reputable work and who behaves in a ethical manner. And beware, if you hire off of Craigslist, for God's sake do not click on his ad. The great thrill of getting a good deal on a paint job is indeed intoxicating, but the hangover you may be left with is so painfully not worth it. Oh, one last thing, if you think about complaining online about him and his business practices, he may call you and threaten you if you don't remove the complaint. Except of course, I do not intimidate well. There's always the IRS, the Department of Labor, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, the Better Business Bureau and a host of other governmental agencies to rely on if he cares to see how messy dealing with dissatisfied client can get.
This guy mike places ads on Craigslist for painters hires people and works them like dogs telling them they have to finish two jobs before getting paid. I finished seven jobs without seeing any money when I quit I was told I would get a check I have all messages from him conforming this. Three weeks later I still have not seen a dime and have not received any answer from him. He does not have any valid insurance for his employees and nine times out of ten he will tell the customer he is insured when he isn't and that you should have two coats of paint because he can charge more and only puts one. You will be cheated an employee and receive substandard work as a customer. Do not hire or work for this man or comany. He is anything but, A Brush Above.
Join the "club", he got me for 3200.00. Everything is in his wife's name. The state tried to collect a judgment from him but, he claims poverty. He is very well known at licensing and regulations with the state. Mr. Hanvey
The worst paint job i have ever seen paint was all over my brick deck and roof and he never showed up himself. He sent poor workers that i had to give extra money to just so they could make it home and eat. He doesn't pay employees or work, twice i swear he was intoxicated on the phone. Horrible company, do not hire.
