We hired "A Perfect 10 Fencing" owned by Tobias Eastin to build a picket fence around our property in June, 2011. He used "above ground" pine fencing pickets made by a company called "Ecolife." The tags on the pickets say, "Above Ground Use." Now, after 3 1/2 years the pickets are rotting because they were dug into the ground or touching the ground by the builder when the fence was put up.(Some of the pickets are also infested with termites due to the rot in the boards.) This means the wrong kind of pickets were used to build the fence. The correct type of pickets that should have been used would have been pickets suitable for on-ground contact.
After nearly a month of calling and trying to talk to Tobias, he did come on 12/8/14, but we were at a doctor's appointment. However he did not notify us that he was coming to look at the fence.
"A Perfect 10 Fencing" is claiming we are at fault because we wanted the fence to go to the ground.
Tobias dug the fencing into the ground so he would not have to cut the pickets to the correct length where they would not touch the ground. However, we believe they are at fault because they used the incorrect type of fencing material.
The web site for "A Perfect 10 Fencing" states: "All wood is pressure treated protected and for you that means no termite damage, no rot and no water damage. We offer a 10 year warranty on installed pine wood fence and 7 year warranty on installed cedar wood fence." Our pickets are pine and we have sealed the fence twice since its installation.
We believe "A Perfect 10 Fencing" should rectify the situation by removal of the existing pickets and replacing them with the correct type of pickets that can be in contact with the ground. The original 10 year warranty should be honored by them.
