AAMCO Transmissions Inc. Reviews

Scott Smith is a liar when he says he warrantied the prior owner's work. What he does or you have to do is contact AAMCO Head Quarters in Horsham, PA and tell them the previous AAMCO store went out of business and you need work done on your car as per your warranty. That is the only way he will honor the previous owners warranty so he can get paid. He did not do this for me. In fact, he told me he when he took over the business, he has in his contact he does not assume any liability from the previous owner. Fine, but, don't keep the previous owner's staff who screwed up my car. Four months before Scott Smith took over AAMCO, I brought my car to that same location and the same mechanics that Scott retained when he took over Jaimie and Ed Gold, miss diagnosed my car problem. They screwed up my car's transmission, the PCM, the electrical system pinching and crossing wires to the fuse box that coast me $2,300.16. For six months I kept having the same transmission error codes that were electrical, putting my care in limp or safety mold, costing me more money because, I tried to get other AAMCO stores to work on my car and they refused. Do not get your car worked on by AAMCO. Do a search on AAMCO and you will see they are the worse car repair company in the country. I went to five AAMCO stores in three states and they won't honor warranty repairs if it is a transmission electric problem or it is inside the transmission. Two, AAMCO won't work on your car if you had a problem with the original store and if you try to get warranty work done at another location, they have to call the store who did the work and they will try to get out of paying for repairs so the warranty is useless. This is what I went through. To get my car worked on, I had to sign a release with AAMCO corporate that I don't make a claim against them or College Station AAMCO. There is nothing I could do since the previous owner went bankrupt and I had to take what I could get at the time. Scott Smith operates in the same building paying a franchise fee using the AAMCO name and he kept the previous owner's mechanics who ruin my car, therefore, he is responsible. Had he not retain the same mechanics, I would not be writing this review and warn residents in Bryan College Station to look elsewhere

Do not bring your vehicle to this establishment. I have spent over $3600 on a new rear end for my truck after being quoted $1700 and it is now back in their shop for the 3rd time in 12 months. The previous time they had my truck for a little under 2 months before I was satisfied, and then they hit it with another car on their lot and wouldnt send it to the body shop of my preference leading to a less than acceptable repair. Avoid this place at all costs.

I wasn't only duped, I was accosted and assaulted. This was probably the worst experience I've had in recent memory. Honestly, I still can't believe what happened. 2 years ago I had the transmission in my F150 rebuilt at this shop. At the time, I was debating whether to do the work or just trade it in. The salesman who is also the manager, Vince, convinced me to do the work and promised that I would not have any problems after the work was done and a great warranty if I did. He claimed that he had 3 F150's and he knew exactly how to fix it. Under 2 years and only 9000 miles later my truck started throwing transmission malfunction errors.

I made an appointment and brought my Truck in for service. A few days had passed and the shop hadn't called, so I called them to check in. They explained that they found the problem, that a valve needed to be replaced. They explained that if they couldn't find the valve, the would replace the valve body. 9 days later I got a call that they were ready to do the repair, but that I would have to pay for the electronic components that needed to be replaced. I stated that I was disappointed. This goes completely against what I was told when I had the initial work done. I was offered a free oil change for my trouble. When I declined the $15 oil change, Vince said that he would see what he could do. When I arrived to pick up the truck, I was simply given the bill for the $288.85 with no mention of anything else. I paid it and left.

When I got to my truck and opened the door, not only was the truck filthy on the outside, but my light tan leather drivers seat was smeared and covered in oil. The inside of the door panel was dirty from dirty hands and the paper on the floor mat, covered in mud was not even removed. I returned to the office and told Vince of what I found. Instead of coming out to see it himself, he sent a worker to clean it. The worker wiped it for a few seconds and told me it was clean. I explained that it wasn't at which time he exclaimed "you're full of s***" and repeated it several times. I returned to the office, quite angry and stated that the employee had just told me that I was "full of s***." Vince lured me outside and immediately got in my face. I asked him if he wished to fight me and he accused me of "disrupting his business." I repeated again what the worker had said to me. At this point, Vince turned to my vehicle and looked inside. With the worker still arguing that it was clean, I tried to say something. Vince cut me off and stated "I have 3 F150's, I know the truck very well." Not sure what that meant. I asked him if they used seat covers when they worked on the truck. He stated "we have them". I asked him if they used them, he admitted they don't. After inspecting the seat, he turned to me and asked me what I wanted to happen. I simply stated that I wanted my seat cleaned. He went inside. HIs worker returned with some cleaner and after a few minutes it was clean. As I got into my truck to leave, the worker who had the passenger side door open tried to continue to argue with me. I just told him to get out. After repeating myself a few times as he continued to argue, he closed the door and I left.

I'm taking the time to write this review because what happened at this shop, to me goes so far beyond the simple fact that they lied to me when I had the work done initially. They're irresponsible and disrespectful. I do not recommend this shop. I don't trust them and I didn't need the aggravation.

In 2013 I brought my vehicle in for a transmission fluid exchange. The following year in 2014 there was a leak so I brought it back in. They claimed that the bolts were loose and that's why it was leaking and they gave it back to me after claiming they had tighten the bolts for me My transmission started acting up and getting bad and the leak was still there several months later. Another shop informed me that the gasket was leaking and it has been leaking prior to the first time I brought it in there and I have evidence of that. Amco is refusing to fix it saying that it was a paper gasket which is a lie and that is only warrantied for 90 days and then refusing to do anything now. some more things have happened and every review on your describes very similar things. I believe is a scam shop and I think they should be investigated. I had no problem my car prior to bring into them every time I've ever let them there's been a new problem that seems like this is the case for many other people as well. All I wanted was for them to replace the gasket even though it has really affected my transmission fairly badly and they wouldn't even do that.

Aamco Charged me $3,200 to rebuild a transmission in a 2008 GMC ACADIA , I was ok with the price but in return expexcted quality service. The only thing I got was an incomplete job and more excuses then I can count on 2 hands.

Paid in full on 11-6-2014 the $3,200 for the repair. Upon pulling out of the repair shop I noticed that the vehicle was not shifting properly, almost as if it were getting stuck in 4th gear. I immediately pulled over and called Aamco. I was told that the vehicle would need to be driven 100 miles for the computer to re-adjust to the transmission and that the vehicle would then start to shift properly. Aamco is a National Company so I had faith in their word and assumed they knew exactly what they were talking about. I kept track of the exact milage on the vehicle from that point on. It has 104,433 miles and at 104,540 it was still doing the exact same thing but seemed to be getting worse.

I called back up to Aamco and addressed my concerns again. They made an apointment for the following week for me to bring it in. While still driving it through the weekend the transmission actually got stuck in the 4th RPM or 4th Gear and would not down shift. I recorded this on my phone as evidence to what was happening hoping the video would make it easier for Aamco to see the issue and fix it. I had my 4 children in the car with me on the highway and had to pull over because the vehicle would not shift properly thus putting all of our saftey in danger. I turned the car off thinking it had something to do with the computer since that is what I was told by Aamco and after turning it back on the vehicle seemed to run as normal as it was before, but still shifting hard between gears. I drove home with the Hazard lights on and did not drive the vehicle until I dropped it off at Aamco a few days later. I tried to show them the video I took explaining what had happened and they seemed to not care and didnt even watch the video. My frustation level was getting high at that point.

Aamco kept the vehicle for 3 days in which I finally had to call and ask what was going on with it because I had heard nothing. Gary, the owners son and one in charge of the transmission work told me that the transmission was working perfectly as it should and that the issue was in the Throttle body. That did not seem correct to me just from reading information on the internet and I expressed my concerns. Ultimately was told that if I wanted it fixed he could give me an estimate on the throttle body and fix it. I chose to instead pick the vehicle up and take it to another well known repair facility and paid $80 to have it hooked up to their computer in which the only codes coming back were both involving the transmission. Codes P2715 and P0700. HIGHLY FRUSTRATED at that point I called Aamco back with the information only to have them tell me they couldnt do much besides look at it again. Expecting much higher customer service after just spending $3,200 with the company. Having no choice but to take it back to Aamco since that was the only place that would honor their warranty.. I left the vehicle again. This time for 7 days. Gary called me saying he was going out of town for Christmas and that he still could find no issues with the transmission. After confronting him saying I had physical evidence of the codes that were being read, he denied it and said his computer wasnt reading any of the same codes but still thought it was the throttle body. I asked him if he had printed out any codes that could show me why he thought it was the throttle body and he said he had not thought to do so. Found that very suspicous. As a repair company wanting to fix a repair I would think having proof of that issue to show the customer would rank fairly high in regards to someones thinking.

None the less I was stuck in the same position. Having a Vehicle I had just paid $3,200 on and still no fix. Gary told me to pick the vehicle up and bring it back after the 1st of the year that he was planning on replacing the Filter at that point. Today on 12-19-2014 as I was driving the vehicle into my office, the gears again got stuck and would not shift propely. I again recorded this with my cell phone as proof to what was going on. I pulled off, called Aamco and was told just to drop it off they would get around to it after the 1st of the year when Gary got back. Expecting a higher level of Customer Service I was very disappointed with their way of not caring much. I parked the vehicle in a business parking lot and waited on the Tow Truck. Only to find out that my reverse was completly gone in the transmission yet once again. Stuck in the exact same position as before taking my car to AAMCO and spending $3,200. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FRSUTARTED with everything about this company and how they treat their customers but more so how they actually perform.

I paid Aamco 3500 to rebuild my transmission(so i thought) . It took me bout a year to pay it all off but i finally did and picked up my car.

A few months later my car is doing the same thing so i take it back to Aamco. Steve the owner doesnt even open the hood he just stuck some lil gadget in my fuse box and said it was fixed. Two days later back to same thing.

Now a month later after not hearing from Steve or him telling me he has ordered the part needed, surprise my warranty is no good i have to pay for repairs.

Main thing that gets me he says transmission was orfered from somewhere else and their warranty has run out. But my receipt says i was charged for Aamco rebuilding my transmission. Money Scam
