Acceptance Now Reviews

Please BEWARE of the ACCEPTANCE NOW program!!!!! I recently moved to Harrisonburg, VA from Michigan. With the move, I was temporarily strapped for money, so I decided to finance through the financing program located in the store. Unbeknownst to me, the Acceptance Now company was a rent to own company located within Grand Home Furnishings. But I figured that that was fine because I would be paying off the full balance in a month anyway. WRONG! It turns out that they DO NOT allow people to make large payments on the account and that they lie about the initial pay off price before you sign your name on the dotted line. Flash to a little over 2 weeks later, I have paid 607.00 of a 808.53 balance, including interest the balance that I was quoted would be 900.00 was the initial quote. Each time I have made a payment it has been over $100 more than what they quoted me for and I am convinced that they are trying to drag my payments out to make me pay more of their 16% interest. When I first made the agreement, I was told that if I paid 257.00 twice within the month of October, I would only have to pay 900.00 for everything. But now to pay off before November 1st, I now have to pay an addition $350 on top of my first payment of $300. I know that there are people with way more issues than I have, but my thought is, "What if I had no money to pay them off in a month." I would be paying out the Whazoo!!! People who have money, this payment plan is not a convenient option. People who do not have money right now, you are better off saving money to buy the furniture cash. This program offered to build credit, but I personally think that they are trying to take advantage of the people down on their luck, not help them. If you read this review and still chose to use them good luck....

My wife and I decided to buy new living room furniture from Rooms to Go in San Antonio after we remodeled our living room. We chose Rooms To Go because we were on a budget and they happened to be near where we were shopping for the day anyway. We walked in and found a really nice full living room set on clearance because it was a floor model. We liked the price and decided to purchase the set.

We initially wanted to get financed through Rooms To Go to try and build our credit further. We had been paying our bills on time for quite a while now and figured we should be ok to finance. We were denied by Rooms To Go, but strongly urged to go through Acceptance Now located in the store. I assume because they either get a kick back for recommending customers to them or they just wanted to get the floor model out of the store. Or maybe it was both. I have dealt with Rent A Center before and I knew that this was a subsidiary of RAC. I have had pleasant dealings in the past with RAC without getting my eyes poked out too badly and figured we would be ok this time as well.

The furniture was $2700. We figured we would pay off the furniture within a year and save some money. Things didn't work out that way and here we are 22 months later into a 36 month contract. Our payments are $286 a month. To date, we have paid a little over $6,000 for the furniture and we still owe a payoff amount of just over $1700. That means we have only paid $1,000 towards the principle of our furniture. That is $45 a month out of $286.

I called the Acceptance Now store that our account is with and the lady was nice enough, and proceeded to tell me that the principle is VERY slow to pay down. I wish someone had reiterated that when we went to sign. But that is foolish of me to think because this country is motivated by suckers and money.

I agreed to the contract. I signed the contract. I am not going to pretend to be one of those consumers who "Was not aware" of the finance charges. I am simply putting my story out there to warn others of the money that you will throw away when dealing with this company. They are making over $5,000 on our contract. Think of the others out there that they are making a ton of money on.

I REFUSE to deal with Acceptance Now EVER again. I learned my lesson the hard way. Please do not make the same mistake we did. Save your money for 4-6 months and pay cash for whatever you want. Avoid this company like the plague!

Don't Pass the Blame

I'm a Sales Manager for Acceptance Now. In August a new program was introduced, if you're able to pay off the account within the first 90 days, you only pay 10% interest. After 90 days the vast majority of the payment is going toward fees for allowing the customer to have the merch in their home, without having ownership.

In my store, a customer is brought to me when they get declined for financing through Wells Fargo, bad credit, no credit, whatever. We buy the merch from the host store and deliver it to our customer for a small down payment. Its a risk. So yes, as a company taking a risk we are going to charge you more. It's common sense.

Please read the contract. As an adult, why would you ever sign anything you didn't thoroughly read?! You can't plead ignorance.

The program isn't for everyone.

If you paid your bills and/or had the cash to purchase your merch you wouldn't know what Acceptance Now was.

I never have issues with my customers because I explain everything to them, if they don't like it or I don't like them, no deal.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, if your questions aren't answered to your satisfaction, DONT SIGN THE CONTRACT! It's quite simple!!

HAVE NO COMMON SENSE

Clearly if people are applying for such a program what would make this company think that the individual can pay off the debt within 90 days. Although you disclose this information, common sense would say if we really want to help people why not extend the time to 12 months which is reasons"ble. To put a 90 day due for a full payment of what some may have close to $1000 plus the interest and all the fees I'm sure you charge, is putting them in hardship. Yes it is up to the individual if he wants to sign the dotted line after you have explained the contract, but it is horrible practice that this company would take advantage of those in need to rip them off even further. It seems like you proud of what you do and are so delusional that you believe you are doing them a service by explaining things "thoroughly." I hope companies like this do go out of business for predatory acts and shame on Bob's Furniture to refer their customers to this predatory lending. I would advise people here who do not have the credit score essential to qualify for a legitimate credit line, from a legitimate financial service company, to save as much as they can and get what they need or wish for at the time. If it's a bed, their are very good air mattresses out there that give great support and lasts even up to two years. The most you will pay for a good one is $250, if that much. Add a foam mattress and you will be just as comfortable as if you are in a conventional bed. Please don't fall for this scam. People like "Don't Pass The Blame" lieu their customers by explaining everything diligently, making them believe "oh it won't be a problem" etc. BUNCH OF SCAMMERS. Time to call the attorney general to investigate the practices this company makes.

Dear Don't Pass the Blame

If these people didn't have bad credit you wouldn't have a job. Given your review - it is safe to assume that you are just another bottom-of-the barrel pig salesman that takes advantage of customers. Only a matter of time before this company is put out of business for predatory practices. Tootles loser!

Never Again!

Never ever do business with this company especially inside Tiger Direct in Palm Beach Gardens, FL Acceptance Now is a complete sham! You will pay 5 times the amount of the item you are purchasing and they will also report incorrectly to your credit report! I filed a lawsuit against them and won!

Credit report?

They told me this did not go to the credit bureaus. The lady from acceptance now said that they do not report anything to the credit bureaus. If they report anything in general at all and I find it in my credit they will also be hearing from me.

re: CRYBABIES

I assume you work for ANOW due to your statement. That really sucks for you that you can't go out and get A REAL JOB!

That you feel good about putting people more in debt then they already are, and not telling them the whole story!

Listen here you ignorant prick! A lot of intelligent, responsible people have BAD credit. Like myself, I have bad credit due to medical bills due to an illness that I have to live with for the rest of my life. Some people want to rebuild their credit, again, like myself!

However, ANOW is a SCAM! and you take advantage of people that are in a bind. You are who you work for!

Now it is clear why you work at this disgusting company, you wouldn't be able to work at any other legitimate company. You can't even spell. Learn how to spell before putting your asinine comments on the blog. Its "merchandise" not "marchandise." Idiot!

Acceptance Now

I have paid twice over the amount that the furniture sale price and still owe $1200. I was late on one payment and they showed up at my door while my 15 yr old was home and wanted to repo the couches. Never use these people. They are ridiculous and rude.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING THROUGH ACCEPTANCE NOW!!.... My fiance and I were in the middle of a move and decided to take a look at some new couches at RTG outlet in Altamonte Springs, FL. We saw a sofa set with the sale prince of $698. We did not intend to purchase the set that day, because of the amount of money we spent on the move. We were then pointed in the direction of "Acceptance Now". We were met by Lorraine the "manager" (used loosely)who discussed the program with us. We were a bit skeptical, as we were just planning to buy the set the next week anyways in full. She explained it was a rent to own program with no interest, as long as the product is paid for within in the first year. Which sounds great for $700 sofa set right? Now, what she FAILED to mention was that by agreeing to use this program, the cost of the couch set is more than TRIPLED! So a $700 sofa now becomes a $2,213 sofa set. We made about 4 payments of $160 each month to only find out only $19 of that was going towards the actual couch. What human on Gods green earth in their right mind would agree to such terms if this was explained to them?! It wasn't until I called to find out the remaining balance of the couch because we were under the impression we were almost done paying it off. Ive done rent to own with other businesses such as Rent-A-Center and never have seen something as absurd as this. We did not get to thoroughly look through the contract, as the manager stated her shift is over after dealing with us and promised that we can use our moving truck to take the couches home same day as long as we can have at least one of our jobs provides proof of employment before she leaves. This "promise" (misinformation) turned into a conflict between the assistant manager WHO relived her of her shift and myself, as she explained that this is not policy. She would need both my girlfriend and my jobs to confirm and employment and each reference needs to be contacted before the couches can be released to us. I had to pay for an extra day with U-haul to pick up the couches the next day instead of the same day, as promised. After finding out how much more we owed, my fiance went in to go speak with aforementioned "manager", in which the only response was a cold & dry "Should have read your contract". Which I do take complete responsibility for, although we were rushed through the process. She then gave my fiance a number to call to have these couches picked up. I called this number, which was just the sales floor for RTG outlet, for them to tell me that they are not responsible for picking up merch, that is solely "Acceptance NOW" responsibility. From beginning to end we were given the complete run around. However, the only apology we ever received was from the assistant manager, who agreed that this entire situation was handled poorly. Mic-conversation she a customer come in and asked to give me a call back to help me with this and NEVER did. I only received a call back about a week later from the manager to tell me that she will call me back once she has a date for pick up. Why not just call me when you have the date? What was even the point of this call then?...I could not tell you. I was so fed up with the service at this point I did not even bother asking. It has been about 2 weeks since informing them originally that we no longer want their business and guess what... THESE COUCHES ARE STILL SITTING IN MY LIVING ROOM.

Slave Labor

This company treats its employees like 3rd world slaves. They actually have what is called a ''war room'' meeting when they don't reach their monthly customer quotas.Hilarious and pathetic.Upper management passing the blame to others , as if they can create customers out of thin air.Employees apparently are '' on call '' with constant schedule changes, terrible schedules to cut costs and not hire others. They are a joke, and it is highly likely they will NOT last in this area.My advice is work on your credit rating before buying furniture and paying TRIPLE through this pitiful excuse of a company. They ALSO don't even want the public to know they are owned by Rent A Center ..Comical

Never will

They don't deserve any stars they lie they tell you a different balance each time you ask to pay off the merchandise they insist you pay for benefits plus which is to help you if for some reason you aren't working I left my job due to illness but my family was helping so I continued to pay my bills then when they could no longer help I applied for the benefit only to be denied because let them I should not have continued to pay first was told my whole balance was 1246 dollars when I added up what I had paid and told them I paid over that now you pay for so many months they are a terrible place don't do business with them

THEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL!

I purchased a sound system from them under the 90 day same as cash deal, they said as long as I pay off the 599 dollar unit in the first three months I would only pay 60 dollars over the original cost making my total 660. When I made the first 2 month payments of 109 each I deducted this from the 660 and came up with my remaining amount to pay it off in the 3rd month, not so, they took the first 2 payment and took out their fees and only put 80 dollars for the first 2cmonthes toward the payoff and said I owed 580 to pay it off! Well I couldn't do that so I had to let the loan run and keep paying, at this point I've paid 700 dollars on a 599 dollar unit and still owe 750 wtf! When I tried to complain about it they said I could return the system that I already paid for in full mind you and they won't refund any of my money and they are sending people to my house, that is bad buisness don't trust these people they lie cheat and steal! The worst part is I got hurt at work and had to wait 6 weeks for a workmans comp check, this is the time they were sending people to my house even though I was trying to pay what I could ,a little at a time, but this wasn't good enough! Go through somebody else please they should be out of business!

horrible

I am renting from acceptance now in Dayton,oh thru hhgreg in mkamisburg! ...and my first payment was due on the 15th of this month, so that would make me 8 days past due which is not a good thing but as I explained to acceptance I have been layed off and not to mention its Christmas time and I have Been trying to make my ends meet and that I could give them a payment Friday26of Dec. From my understanding of the contract it says after the 5th day of being late there would be a $10 late fee applied. But yet he tells Me that basically if you don't make your first payment on time they come get there merchandise???wtf...then calls my PhD and leaves a message threatening me that their gonna file legal charges for theft of merchandise!!!! Remind you this is all in the 8th day! I think that was totally inappropriate! And I hope he had the conversation recorded as I did! Very ignorant people.

We bought a television from Brandsmart. The sales price of the television was $500.00, we thought it would be nice to finance such a nice tv. So, we financed it through RAC, but we have been paying for this $500.00 tv for 15 months at $165.00 per month because each month that you do not pay it out, they add more fees to eat the money that you have already paid.

They refuse to tell us what the payout is unless you pay whatever ridiculous amount they claim you still owe. If you think about financing through these leaches...Run,. Run fast and hard!

Fuck you . Stupid ass idiots . Its all good and well when your shopping right. Then you haven to start paying and all of a sudden you hate ANOW. Shut the fuck up. If you are talking to ANOW its because you are an irresponsible piece of shit that can't get anything without doing rent to own. You don't pay your bills on time ever, its just a trait you never gained. ANOW knows all this a they still give you marchandise. I'd like to see you walk into a bank and ask for a $2500 loan. They will laugh in your face. You scum bags deserve to pay more for all the people you have scammed in the past. Your credit speaks for itself !

Terrible loan sharks

This company is horrible! They are WORSE than rent a center! You pay three times more than what the furniture is worth. Everytime i tried to pay a twice the monthly payment due they would lie and say the computer was not able to process two payments at omce. Assholes!!!!

  • Apr 3, 2017

They Suck!!

My day to pay my bill is the 1st. well this month I won't get paid till the 4th at 10:00 pm. I was told that I would have to pay a $20.00 late fee if it was not paid by 8:30pm. Also was told they would be reporting to a late payment on my credit score if it was not paid by the 4th at 8:30pm. I laughed. I believe it's 30days past the billing cycle. Also I went online to see what my payment was and the my account was locked. There was a message saying I was 2 payments late. This of course is not true because this will be my 1st payment. The message also said I had to come to the store to pay them. Sorry not going to happen. I work nights at a hospital. What a joke

  • Sep 26, 2016

H and H Greg

you need to get rid of acceptance now they will ruin your business.

Simple finace is a little better because in the stat of ohio they will not make you pay as much interest if you miss 90 days same as cash

  • Sep 22, 2016

thanks for warnings

I was just approved for Acceptance Now was told there are no interest nor fees if paid within 90 days. NOT TRUE!!

Went to an HHgregg in Jacksonville. They said there is a 12 Percent fee and this fee goes to Acceptance Now. I can see the store needing to make sales but Acceptance Now is a scam. If the store denies the consumer credit acceptance now steps in to rent you the item for a profit. so there is interest and fees if you pay within 90 days. That is a blatant lie and this should be stopped. I will look into consumer advocacy groups or the government to find out where to make complaint. I am not a victim but almost was. Under what circumstances does the consumer not have interest or fees? There are none so how can they say no interest or fees if paid within 90 days.

ACCEPTANCE NOW need investigating

My ex, my RICH ex, I should add, deliberately ruined my credit. So there's that. That's what brought me to Acceptance Now. A washer/dryer set that originally cost about $1,900 has cost me double. I've paid in excess of $3,800.00. According to my records, in a REPUTABLE finance company, my bill would have been paid in a year. Wasn't allowed to make double payments or even $50 more. For the past 6 months, I have asked each month what my balance is. Each month I am told $1300.00. Until today. Now? It's $1400. Now I am told its TAXES that were added. Then there is the constant "hounding". I get paid on the 15th. That means it might be one to two days before my money is deposited. Told them I would pay anywhere from the 15th to the 17th. The constant calls start on the 15th. Last month, I tried to call them for a week to make a payment. Their phone rang off the wall. No answer. When I finally did make contact, I was told their phones had been "messed up". I got clocked for a $10 late charge. Moral of the story? STEER CLEAR from this place. They are not there to help you OR ur credit rating. You will be paying double to triple the price and not quite certain if u pay in full? That you won't be slapped with "early payoff" charges. They are there to fill their pockets. Normally, when u think of being robbed..a gun or knife would be used to seal the deal. Not these bastards. They rob you because you're in a financial bind and will steal you blind. Very unethical and shady. Save your $$ and buy used.

Total Scam!

The review is for the finance company Acceptance Now which is inside Becks in Rancho Cordova Ca. I can't believe that Becks would continue to use a company that has zero customer service skills and is a huge scam.

They go over certain parts of the contract and not others and tell you over and over again that if you pay before the 90 days there are no other fees. No where in the contract or in person do they tell you there is a 15% charge for using their company on top of a $45 processing fee which they tax not just the price of the furniture but these two added fees as well.

They will sign you up for programs that will cover you if you loose your job (kind of like gap insurance for your car) 1 without even mentioning it 2 without your consent.

Plus they charge you almost 12% for tax which in Rancho Cordova they have a 8.5% sales tax.

When you ask to speak to a manager about it they will tell you that they have attorneys that will contact you since there are no managers, and threaten that since you are not paying off your bill they will have someone come pickup the furniture and if your not home break in since your harboring their property.

Finally after calling corporate got ahold of the district manager and he says he will look into the account and call you back later that day however it is 4 days later still no call back. Corporate says I have to wait another 24hours to see if he calls before escalating it to the regional manager.

This is ridiculous. I love the bed I purchased (paid cash for) I love the mattress I bought however I would like the money I paid towards the product to actually be put towards the product and not get harassed and threatened everyday (the store is still calling me everyday asking me when I will be making a payment) So sad because the sales guy for Becks was amazing helping me find the exact piece I wanted.

Not So Bad

Actually I think it's some what good..I did notice that I would be paying double for the items that I purchased...I am just thankful that I was able to get what my family needed...Making on time payments with this company is boosting my credit score up...I pay all my bills on time and just learning about credit which mine is neither good or bad I didn't have enough credit. The program is steep but I can handle it...
