Fraudulent Credit Card Charges

Never done business with Adore Me, but received five consecutive credit card charges of $200 each on July 3, 2015! Beware.

I signed up for AdoreMe’s subscription service back in April of 2014 based on the promise that I could discontinue the service at any time. After receiving 2 packages (in April and May) I decided that the quality of the product in no way matched up to the rather high price ($39.95 for most sets). I called in June to cancel the subscription altogether. Afterwards I checked my credit card bill to see if June was refunded; it was.

Based on this, I assumed they heard me loud and clear. They didn’t and continued to charge me my monthly subscription fee of $39.95. I still had a credit on my account and intended to use it at a later date, so when I got the reminder “You have a credit email” I assumed that was what it was referring to. In October I realize that I am still being charged, I email again asking what’s going on and demanding for them to cancel my account. They claim they could only cancel over the phone so I call and ask for it to be canceled AND for the money to be refunded. They refused.

I did the same song and dance in November and December over both the phone and via email and still it has not been canceled. I’ve contacted my credit card company, but unfortunately they are siding with AdoreMe because of how the user agreements are written.

To be clear I am fine with the charges up until June of 2014 when I canceled my service, but the charges which occurred afterwards I do not feel responsible for.

Do not do business with this company! They are desperate to hold onto ever customer and will trap you into a monthly charge of $39.95 which quite obviously adds up. So far they’ve gotten me for $279.65 and as a student this really hurts. Please don’t make the same mistake I have.

I bought a Groupon for this company for a gift for my wife. In order to use the Groupon they require you sign up for their VIP membership which charges 39.95 each month to your credit card. After realizing this, I contacted the company and they would only refund one month's worth of charges. This resulted in a credit balance remaining on my account. At this point in time I cancelled my subscription and moved on.

Fast forward 6 months later, around Christmas time, I decided to use the remaining credit balance in my AdoreMe account for a few extra Christmas gifts. Little did I know, that checking out and using my remaining balance supposedly re-signed me up for this VIP program. While I specifically recall the checkout process at this point in time, I do not in any way remember seeing any options, selections, or settings that said I was re-signing up for this program.

In fact I was looking for this, knowing that the Groupon experience already tricked me. I found this out 3 months later when I was auditing my credit card statements and was surprised to see more 39.95 monthly charges to this company. Once again, I called the company, spoke with Regina, who refused to work with me. She would only repeat ""policy"" over and over again. She also refused to allow me to speak with her manager Brittany to further escalate this matter.

My next step was to dispute this with the credit card company and come to find out they have a ""contract"" with American Express saying they can only dispute 60 days in the past as opposed to Amex's normal 90 days.

STAY AWAY from this company. They appear to have nice products at reasonable prices, but what they do not tell you is it is all a scam to get you sucked in to a subscription program with an extremely short refund period. While at the same time having unreasonable policies and inconsiderate customer service.

Unfortunately I got burned by this twice, so I am writing this to hopefully save someone else from falling into their trap.
