AgeRenew Skin Care Reviews

  • Apr 20, 2015

I saw an ad for a free trial of Age Renew skin and eye creams for $7.90. I ordered and about two to three weeks later I received my free trial.

They told me that their contract was reviewed by very good lawyers and there was nothing I could do about it. I would have to pay this amount. They said I should have read the fine print where they spelled all this out.

I told them this was very deceptive business practices at the least and thay I was going to dispute their charges and I was going to post a complaint against them so that maybe I could keep someone else from falling for their scam.

A received a statement as I was getting off a business website I often use. The statement thanked me for my work and offered me a choice of three items, if I would pay for shipping. I chose the Age Renew Skin Care. There was no visible additional information on the page.

When my VISA bill arrived, I had been charged an additional $2 for insurance and $89 for the product, as well as having a membership.

When I called Age Renew Skin Care, I was told I had missed the 14-day cancellation date and was beyond the 30-day return date. The customer service person also added that if I fought the charge, I would lose just like everyone else.

"Rebecca's" report if quite accurate.

I was purchasing something on Amazon when a pop up regarding Age Renew product offered a one time only trial size of their lotion. I read the fine print, was no where stated that this was a membership. Received the small bottle...wasn't impressed by it. Less than 14 days later, I find a charge of $89 from that company. Called about it...she stated it was a membership statement in the fine print.....NO there wasn't...and she couldn't locate that pop up ad to verify it. She even told me that I couldn't dispute it to my bank because it wouldn't do any good?? Also..if I went to speak...she just kept putting me on hold to shut me up and would come right back with robot instructed mumbo jumbo that this scamming company has trained them to do! Scam...pure scam. I will never use that product again!!!

I received a pop-up ad from Amazon.com when I was shopping one day. Asking me if I'd like to take a survey and then I would receive a free gift. There were three options and Age Renew looked like the the best one to me. So I chose it and it said there would be a $1.95 charge to my credit card for shipping and handling. Then I received another email when it shipped. There was a second $2.00 charge for "insurance" as well, but this didn't seem too bad.

This month when I was looking over my credit card statement there was a charge for $89 for Age Renew Skin Care. I immediately called their customer care number and told them what had happened. Their script informed me that there were terms and conditions that I agreed to when I signed up for the free trial. Since I didn't cancel in 14 days I was going to be charged for the bottle of lotion I had already received.

I don't remember these terms and conditions because when I pressed the customer care representative further she told me that the pop-up ad was from a third party and could not be tracked. I also could not return to the original ad because it had been changed.

I believe that Age Renew is running a scam and getting away with it because they can refer to the terms and conditions on their website. Terms and conditions that are in fact so fine print and faint you almost need a magnifiying glass to see them. If you are going to automatically charge someone, be up front about it. I have dealt with several companies that follow the trial-then-subscription model, and they have, until now, always provided an exit point after the trial.
