Akira Japanese Cuisine Reviews

Up until recently we have enjoyed coming to Akira Sushi restaurant, over the years for the food. Unfortunately, after our visit this past Sunday, this view has changed drastically for us.

The issue started with our arrival to the restaurant. I called in advanced to make a reservation for 14 people, including 3 families with little kids, but when we arrived the table was not ready and we had to wait about 10 minutes in the hall for servers to prepare it. It is important to notice that the place was almost empty when we arrived, and they had all the time in the world to get the table ready prior to our arrival.

We then ordered food in three separate All-You-Can-Eat lists, one for each family. After about 40-50 minutes from the first plate, we realized that only part of the food had arrived, and my kids did not get theirs. We let the server know about it several times, but she only kept promising that it is coming.

After additional 15 minutes we began to complain and asked to bring food for kids, but she kept arguing with us that most of the food had been delivered and only small part of it still waiting in the kitchen. Of cause, this was not true. She then went back to bring the list with our order, which we proved her was not delivered. She just kept arguing and arguing and did not even think of apologizing.

To make the matter worse, another waitress, spill oil on our friends’ coats. Two big spots of oil totally destroyed the coats, and they did not even try to clean it or offer compensation. Our friend had to tell them to clean it, and only then one of the servers washed it with water. We had to argue with them, so that they agree to take some cost off the bill. Of cause, this does not cover the cost of two new coats.

After long time of arguing with the waitress, we asked to call for the manager, but she said he was not there. We then decided to leave. I informed them, that since we did not get our food, we were not going to pay. I also demanded compensation for the coats, but only received more arguing in response.

Out of the sudden, a guy came and said he was the owner. I told him, that this kind of service was totally unacceptable, and we were not going not pay for it. He then pushed me away to prevent from me to leave and called 911. This was done in a very aggressive form towards me and my 3 months baby, which was in my hands. We left the place, but did not go away from the parking lot, to stay and wait for the police to arrive. We had no intention to leave, but did want the matter to be resolved.

Police officer that arrived to the place, listened to both side, and then went inside to talk to the manager. This is the place to mention, that another guy came out and said he was the owner (wonder how many different owners this place has). When police officer came out, he looked shocked by their behavior. Although, he said that we have to pay because we had some of the food that our friends ordered. They also agree to reduce a bit the bill, and we paid it, just to finish the long going dispute.

I believe it is enough to describe the situation we found ourselves in, because of this restaurant. I think I am in the right to request a refund of the money we spent and an additional compensation. Although of course none can give us back the spoiled evening that was totally destroyed for three families.
