It could not have gone worse. These people are horrible at what they do! Unbelievable that they still have a license. On December 31st we agreed with them on a full condo renovation by mid January they had already asked for half of the money (23,000)and we had given it to them. They kept delaying everything by not filing for the right permits. After a little over 4 moths our patience got fed up and contacted the city to see the status of our permits. Much to our surprise we had discovered that they had only filed for change of kitchen cabinets permit instead of a full condo renovation as it was stated in the contract. Also they had filed an electrician to do the electrical work whose license HAS BEEN EXPIRED since 2010!!! When they were questioned about why they only filed for kitchen cabinets they had no answer! In over 4 months they did NOTHING to our unit and they had already collected half of the money. They have no respect for the customer and never took responsibility or tried to make things right. I told them that due to their inhability to deliver we no longer wanted them as our GC. We also told them we would pay them for what they had done ( file for insufficient permits and drawings) but that we wanted the rest of out money back. They said that they had already done 11,000 worth of work and that they would give us the rest back ONLY if we signed a document were we would give away our right to pursue them legally. That is not going to happen!!
I asked for an itemized invoice backed up by receipts that justified those 11,000 and recieved nothing!!! They have no way to justify that amount! I asked them for the keys and the fob to my unit, which I originally gave them ,and they took copies of the originals and sent me the copies while they kept the originals and the fob. What kind of serious and professional GC does something like this??? When I sent them emails about wanting my orginal keys back I got no reply and had no other option but to file a police report against them.
These people present themselves as having A++ ratings on the BBB and Angie's list none of which is true! They in fact have and F ON THE BBB and a B avarage on Angies ( which I don't even understand how they get this) . Also after doing my homework and searching for them online it says that they had ONLY APPLIED FOR 23 PERMITS IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. When they told us that the do about 120 kitchens a year.... They also state in some websites that they have anywhere from 14 to 27 employees but on public record their company is really a 2 man shop who subcontracts people with expired licenses.
Please please please save yourselves from some terrible headaches and legal trouble by avoiding doing business with these people. At this point we are still battling to get out money back but we are thankful we stopped them when we did l. Have they had done any jobs in our unit without proper permits and not up to code we would have been lia
