All Creatures Animal Hospital Reviews

  • Apr 18, 2015

I got my puppy from Petland in dunwoody on Feb. 28 2015 and they recommended this vet.

I brought my little puppy here because I suspected she had kennel cough. The doctor looked at her and without performing any tests or blood work said, "yes she has kennel cough." She prescribed a medication (week long antibiotics) and said that she would be all better in a week.

A week later my puppy was coughing even more then before and seemed much worse then when I first brought her in. Clearly the medicine they prescribed did not work! I brought her for her followup appointment which was scheduled 1 week after the first appointment and they again prescribed another medication (week long antibiotics) without performing any tests or blood work.

When I asked the doctor if she was going to perform tests or blood work to properly diagnosis my puppy so that she could prescribe the correct medication, the vet looked at me like I was crazy an said that they COULD NOT perform blood work because "dogs have many different diseases and sicknesses and that she didn't have a test specially designed for kennel cough."

This is taken from petMD:

DIAGNOSIS

The diagnosis for this disease is largely based upon the type of symptoms that are being presented and your dog's history with regards to exposure to other dogs. You will need to give a thorough history of your dog's health and onset of symptoms. A complete blood profile will be conducted, including a chemical blood profile, a complete blood count, and a urinalysis. These blood tests, along with viral isolation and bacterial cultures, will be performed in order to verify individual agents that are causing the kennel cough.

Obviously, this place has no idea whats going on! I ended taking my puppy somewhere else!
