All Time Tech Support Reviews

  • Aug 28, 2014

This company preys on those without a sophisticated knowledge or understanding of computers. They call claiming to be from "Windows Support". It is typically a person with an strong Indian accent and an American name like Sharon Fields or Steve Johnson.

Their scam is to tell you that Windows servers have discovered some serious errors being "reported" by your computer. They'll tell you that this may be indicative of your machine having been compromised by hackers or a virus. They'll tell you "but do not worry! We're here to fix the problem."

Next they ask you to open a command prompt by hitting the Windows key + "R" and enterring "cmd" in the field provided. Once you do, they read the following string of characters to you 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF... etc. They claim this is your computer's unique security identification number. (IT IS NOT. This is a number that is the same in every computer. But they fool the unwitting who believe this is true).

If you complete their support instructions, they will have access to your machine and will screw things up inside so as to then sell you the solution to correct the problems they created. Or worse, they have access to install keylogginig software to capture your banking information.

DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM!!!

I have reported them to the Texas Attorney General. Do not fall for their scam.
