Allied Home Warranty Reviews

Our dishwasher broke and they sent out a technician who repaired the wrong part (which by the way it took over a week to do). After 2 more weeks of the run around from both the vendor and Allied they refused to pay for their vendor to come back out to fix the right part and told us we had to take their cash out replacement cost of $269.

We currently have an $800 dishwasher with lots of extra features etc. They refuse to honor their contract to replace appliance with "similar features, capacity and efficiency.." they never even asked us what model dishwasher we have to come up with a comparable price. When I requested they provide me with the dishwasher pricing support they are basing this cash out value at they declined to provide it to me. Their "offer" won't even cover buying the bottom of the barrel dishwasher with tax, delivery and installation. All we ever wanted was our dishwasher fixed.

Basically their vendor messed up and they were going to have to pay more money to fix it, so instead they just extremely low ball "offer" to replace our dishwasher. (I say offer but in reality we have no choice whatsoever). Now we don't have enough money to replace or fix our dishwasher. Out the service call fee and the home warranty cost.

Just also to mention Allied has probably the worst customer service I have experienced ever. They do not listen to you, talk over you and have zero concern for their customers. We did nothing to be treated the way we have been.

Allied Home Warranty refused to honor its "One-page contract" and repair my plumbing problem. Why do they have a "One-page contract?" Because it is vague and allows them to refuse to honor repair requests at their discretion. Allied's affiliated contractor is NRG Home Services. NRG and Allied are owned by the same company. It even states so on their website. NRG put a temporary clamp on the leak and said Allied only covered three feet of pipe (you won't see that in the One-page contract). He said I needed more extensive repairs and they would not be covered by Allied, but that NRG would do them for $8,400 dollars and would even be so kind as to offer financing. The NRG employee also said Allied would condemn my plumbing and no longer cover any plumbing repairs in the future. My home was inspected by a licensed inspector less than two months ago and the plumbing passed inspection. Allied said repairing or replacing pipes is a "modification" and their contract doesn't cover modifications. So, replacing or repairing anything can be considered a modification and is therefore not covered if it would cost Allied too much money to fix. Allied Home Warranty has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. How do they get an A+ rating? They pay to be a member of the BBB and the BBB doesn't want to rate their members low. It hurts their business model. Business would not pay to be a BBB member if they got a low rating. Here is the response I got to my complaint with the BBB for Allied Home Warranty failing to make the repairs required by their contract. They didn't even send a copy of the complaint to Allied.

-"There are some complaints the BBB cannot process due to our by-laws and national guidelines. The BBB cannot intervene with issues regarding store or company policy. Please understand policies are not required to be posted in the stores or on receipts in the State of Texas. It is very important that consumers ask a lot of questions prior to purchasing a product or use a service to ensure that they understand the company's refund/return/exchange policy clearly.

You may wish to pursue your issue through the court system. The number for Small Claims Court information in Harris County is 713.755.5137.

The BBB has not notified the other party in question but will keep your letter on file. We sincerely hope you can find another way to resolve your dispute."-

It should be noted that Allied Home Warranty's "One-page contract" prohibits you from filing a lawsuit against them (small claims court). It requires you to go through arbitration instead.

From Allied Home Warranty wesbite:

-"We offer a One-page contract in simple language, with No Dollar Limits for each system and appliance. There's no fine print."

Nope, no fine print. Just vague language that lets them define any part of the contract in any manner that saves them money. There are No Dollar Limits because they just deny coverage if it costs them too much. Also notice how they capitalize No Dollar Limits. That is because they are using it as a legal term, not to mean there are actually no dollar limits. There is a reason other companies have multi-page contracts. It requires them to do cerstain things and gives the consumer legal protection.

-"...the owner of Allied is also the owner of NRG Home Services."

So they send out their own company to evaluate claims and make repairs. This is a clear conflict of interest and it is the reason insurance companies are prohibited from requiring you to use their repair people. That restriction doesn't apply to "warranty" companies.

In the summer of 2013 my home A/C quit working. I called Allied Home Warranty and they sent out a techician. When the techician arrived he said the AC was low on feron due to a slow leak in the system. He replaced the feron but refused to fix the leak. He stated feron was being fazed out so I would eventually have to replace the unit any way. I had to pay $60 and the issue was not repaired.

I immediately called Allied to report the techician. I was told by Allied Home Warranty that the techician had not reported the leak to them therefore if I wanted someone else to coe look at the AC it was cost me another $60 for the service call. After arguing with them a techician did not come.

Fast forward to Friday July 4th, 2014. Again my AC stopped working, again I called Allied Home Warranty. This time I was told if I wanted someone to come out the same day or Saturday it was cost me $120. If they came on Sunday it would be $200. I questioned the price and was told it was in the contract that they did not cover emergencies or weekends. After my home reaching 90 degrees inside and having an ill puppy I went ahead and someone sent out on Saturday. I checked the on-line contract and it stated $60 for ALL service calls. I saw nothing that stated emergencies or weekends would be more.

The techician arrived at my home, looked at the AC, said it was low on freon due to a leak in the coil. He also stated Allied would not cover the feron although they had covered it the previous year. I immediatly called Alliedand told them the issue with my AC was exactly what I had told them the techician refused to fix last year. I told them Ishould not have to pay for more feron and a $120 services fee when the problem should have been taken care of last year. I was told last year had nothing to do with this year. I asked to speak with a manager and was told one was not avaliable but would call me Monday morning.

Monday afternoon came and I had not received a phone call so I called Allied again. I spoke with a Vicky or Nikki. I was told Allied would not compensate me for the service call or feron since the techician last year had not reported the problem. After becoming very upset on the phone I was told she would speak to a manager after reviewing what the techician this time had said.

On Tuesday, 8 JUly 2014 I received a call from Allied. I was told all they would reimburse be was $60. She went on to say that I would have to pay $1800.00 to have my AC repaired because Allied would only cover the cost of the coil and there were other parts I would have to have.

I called Joe Cool, the company who had came out and spoke with Joe. He stated the additional parts were not required in order to replace the coil but they were recommended. He said Allied would not replace the coil without the additional parts.

I called Allied again and this time spoke with a customer service manager. She stated the additional parts were required and they would not cover the coil without them. I askedwhy then was Allied not covering the additional parts and she stated, "Well, because they are not broken".

Allied Home Warranty is a rippoff. Now I'm stuck with an AC that is still leaking because I cannot afford $1800.

RIP OFF!! Don't honor appointments and will charge double to get someone out to fix problem. I called on 6.17.2014 to have a problem with my AC to be addressed. I have been paying for warranty via Reliant Energy for over a year - over $300. I finally called because I have a problem with my upstairs AC unit. I stated that this was the first time calling. The service person never asked if I had a problem. She made an appointment for 2 - 4 pm on the next Friday. I was home all day - when I didn't receive a phone call by 3:15 pm, I started to call this NRG Home Services. No one answered the first time but left a message. I called again an while leaving another message someone picked up. She got my information and then reported - they had talked to my husband and stated that they would go through another provider. Well, I don't have a husband and no one called. NRG Home Services stated they could not come out today because they were working on families who had no AC. I stated my issue and she said that was how it was listed and that is not what they could do today. Didn't offer to reschedule or get anyone else out.

I called Allied Home Warranty. I told them what was going on. I was on hold for more than 45 minutes and maybe talked to them for over 15 minutes. They went back to the phone call placed and said I never said I had a problem. They never asked and it was the first place as a tune up. Making appointment in 3 days ahead and can't honor the time is so wrong. They stated they could have someone come out double the money!!

They have gotten over $300 of my money and they will no longer get another penny.
