Hans appears to have some mental issues and it affects his dealings with the public. He is obnoxious, foul mouthed, unreasonable and twists the conversation around to make others look at fault. He does not truly care about his clients dogs issues. I'm sure at one time he did, but not anymore. He needs to retire.
Contacted Hans Prager with specific interest in purchasing a Czech line German Shepherd. I have decades of experience with these dogs and simply looking for a solid breeder with solid pups.

Then hung up on me as I attempted to explain, as a potential client, what I was looking for.
This individual has communication issues, which to be an excellent and reputable breeder, is essential. As an experienced owner of a multitude of German shepherds, I cannot recommend this individual to anyone. He needs to learn how to communicate professionally or get out of the business.
If you're a simple-minded sort who judges only on demeanor and is thin skinned, it seems reasonable to say NO to Hans. If however, you base you buying decision(s) on established business metrics and dispense with over-emotionalism, you say YES since Hans and Jiri (Jinopo) are THE gold standard where working GSDs are concerned. Go ahead, buy somewhere else and spend the next 8-14 years regretting that decision. I judge on deliverables and guarantee, not platitudes.
Hans is curt often, yes, but the man busts his ass every day to be the best - sometimes demeanor suffers (anyone who has ever worked at a real job with a boss, or is him/herself a boss or manager - any position with constraints and delegation of authority *understands* this) in the face of foolish inquiries.
If you base your review of Hans on demeanor ONLY, go ahead and rip him apart. If you instead use your head - if you have one to use - and judge him on all relevant business metrics, the score changes very quickly to 5 stars since in his business, nobody delivers a better product with a better guarantee and follow-up service at a better price, period. I prefer the bigger picture, which includes deliverables. Demeanor often suffers when a man busts his ass every day to be the best, which Hans does - and is. Sadly, the blind can't comprehend that.
My last and final GSD came from Hans, is world class and rates a 10 in every temperament and conformation category - plus has iron nerves. Utterly magnificent animal (if you question Alpine, you question Jinopo, and if you do that, you are stump shit stupid - Jinopo is the world's gold standard for working GSDs). Go ahead, buy somewhere else. If you set high standards, you'll regret that decision for the next 10-14 years.
