ALTHIM Technologies, LLC. Reviews

  • Dec 2, 2014

Althim Technologies is part of an ongoing global scam ring involved with removing non-existant malware from your computer. In short, if you happen to visit certain websites, a Flash or DHTML alert will pop up asking you to call a toll-free number to remove malware. It can appear difficult to remove this message without calling the number. Once you dial in, you'll be redirected to "tech support" outfits like Althim that will ask for screen sharing access to your computer. They will then install some sort of security software (likely malware), and charge your credit card (usually for more than stated). You'll need to ask for a full refund from your card company (on the basis that it's a scam... reference the FTC case). You'll also need to cancel your CC in order to avoid future charges.

Many of these shops were busted by the FTC in 2012, but some have popped up again.
