American Residential Services LLC Reviews

We wanted the former owner’s customers to be our customers and have the opportunity to earn their business. Honoring warranties and service agreements of the prior customer was essential to that goal. After acquiring Goettl, it became evident that in order to reassure customers, resolve concerns,and mitigate future warranty costs we needed to do a quality audit of recent installations and re-install those that did not meet my quality standards. In the first two years, we have audited and re-installed about 400 systems. This has been important part of building trust with our customers and is consistent with the legacy of Goettl as I knew it growing up.

One of the things that I did not expect when I took on the challenge was the virility of some of the company’s lessor competitors who tell lies about the company and try to mislead customers and play on their concerns and fears. I have participated as a leader in the industry, been involved with community initiatives and philanthropies, contributed my time in leadership roles in industry, have always been willing to give a competitor candid business advice and technical help when asked. We have overcome this challenge as well by honest dealings, responding to customer concerns and by strongly supporting our community and industry.

One of the most gratifying things that happened inthe first two years that I have had Goettl was the pride of the Goettl team and the joy of past employees and industry veterans to see the company reach its 75th anniversary celebration of its founding;strong again, growing, creating jobs, and again an industry leader.

There was more personal emotion involved in my acquisition of Goettl than any of the other three dozen companies I have owned. I get a sense of nostalgia when I think back thirty-five years and Goettl was building its legacy. I am humbled to now be part of that going forward.”

DO NOT USE ARS HEATING AND AIR; THEY ARE CROOKS!!!! I CALLED ARS HEATING AND AIR BECAUSE MY AC UPSTAIRS WAS NOT BLOWING AIR AT ALL AS IF THE MOTOR OR AIR HANDLER WAS NOT RUNNING/ I CHECKED THE FUSE BOX AND STILL NOTHING; THE UPSTAIR TEMP WAS RUNNING 78-79 DESPITE TURNING THE THERMOSTAT DOWN TO 69-70....NO AIR FLOW/ NOT EVEN WARM AIR WAS COMING FROM THE VENTS AT ALL....THEY LEAD ME TO BELIEVE OVER THE PHONE THAT THE SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY THEN AFTER COMING TO MY HOME REVEALED THAT THERE WOULD BE AN UPFRONT DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE OVER AND ABOVE THE LABOR/PARTS CHARGE. HE TOLD ME I NEEDED A LITTLE "COOLANT" A LITTLE TURNED OUT TO BE SUPPOSEDLY 5 POUNDS TO A TUNE OF $300.00; THE TECH BECAME ANGRY WHEN I QUESTIONED IT AND WANTED TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER WHO SUPPOSEDLY DISCOUNTED THE PRICE TO 174.00 BUT SAID I HAD A LEAK IN THE LINE AND THAT WOULD COST MORE TO EVEN LOOK FOR IT LET ALONE FIX IT AND COULDN'T TELL ME HOW LONG THE NEW COOLANT WOULD COOL BEFORE HAVING TO FIX THE PROBLEM...1 DAY /1 WEEK? THEN I ASKED HIM WAS THE AIR COOLING NOW HE SAID YES WITH A SHARP TUNE AND LEFT IN A HUFF!!. HE NEVER BOTHERED TO GO BACK UPSTAIRS AND CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS WORKING NOR TAKE A THEMOMETER TO MAKE SURE IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR. HE ABSOLUTELY DID NOT ADDRESS NOR EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM;

Renee Kellogg, their customer service representative in Austin is way more interested in disproving you as a customer than to find out the truth of what happens with ARS service. Luckily for me I have all evidence in my favor. In summary, ARS should have detected an evaporator coil leak at the time the part was under warranty but they did not. On June 25, 2011 ARS Rescue Rooter came to my house due to a service call I had place to fix my AC because it was not cooling. Upon arrival the technician ("Randall" #970) said that I needed a refill of "Puron". Given the price of Puron per pond at that time, the technician suggested that I should, instead of buying Puron by the pound, buy the Home Service Plan (HSP) (which includes Puron re-fill), because the price of $169 of the HSP was lower than the amount of Puron I needed to buy to refill the unit. I followed his advice and I purchase the HSP that same day as evidenced in the Invoice (9132-634418). On June 18, 2012 I called ARS again because my AC was not cooling again. The second technician (#619) diagnosed that the Blower Motor was not working properly and suggested a replacement. By this date (June 15, 2012) my system was still under 5 years thus, parts were covered under warranty. This technician also noted that the unit was low of Puron (AGAIN) and topped off the unit with Puron as described (written) on the invoice (9132-661896). I paid $190.36 for the part replacement. On Jan 27, 2014 I had the unit checked for regular maintenance. Technician (David #373 or #372?) "Checked" both the heating AND Cooling system, as evidenced by invoice #9132-623964 and said there were no issues. I recall the visit lasting less than 15 min.

This month (June 2014) I noted that once again my unit was not cooling so I called ARS Rescue Rooter to inquire about the price of Puron (since I knew that what they do every time) the price was over $100 per pound so I looked elsewhere for a better price. I contracted the services of Drain + Air Rescue (License #TACLB36308E) and the technician ("Manny") added Puron. He said that the unit should not be loosing Puron (given that Puron is contained in a sealed compartment) and, after inspection, diagnosed the unit with a leak in the evaporator coil (as noted in invoice # 171569) and gave me a quote for the replacement. "Manny" checked if the evaporator coil was under warranty and found out that it had a 5 year warranty and was out of warranty. Early this month (June 2014) I called ARS Rescue Rooter to make a formal complaint with them arguing that after various checks and even after they had to re-filled my AC unit with Puron they never suggested that I had a leak, at the time of those checks I had a leak, evidenced by the refills made by ARS (as written in one of the invoices #9132-661896) and at the time my unit, more specifically the evaporator Coil WAS UNDER WARRANTY. I requested to them to pay for the part (About $800) and I would pay for the service (about $800) but ARS rescue rooter refused to acknowledge responsibility.

I wish they had minus stars, I'd give them -5. These people had the nerve to come to my house and estimate $2100 to fix my air conditioning unit. Before I agrees, thinking they were honest having been recommended by Home Depot, I had a small mom and pop company look at it. THEY FIXED IT FOR $150!

Now ARA is trying to get me to pay $49 for WASTING MY TIME WHILE THEY WERE TRYING TO RIP ME OFF!!!

POTENTIAL CUSTOMER BE AWARE!

I visited my local Home Dopot store on Mar 25, 2014 looking for a toilet flap. I was apporached by a man sitting inside the store advertising FREE heating and air inspections. I stopped and was handed a card from ARS and set up an appointment for Mar 27, 2014.

Matt from ARS came to my home and explained what he was going to do, which was to check my outside heating and air unit and give me a report on his findings. he came back inside and said that my unit was working at about 60%, but that he had to check the second part of the unit, which was located in my attic, in my bedroom closet.

In doing so, he stepped on a water line and broke it. Water was everywhere. my son ran outside and cut the water off. By then, all my clothes, my ceiling, my carpet and walls were soaked. Matt called his company and explained what had happened, and told me what was going to be done next..

The plumber came, fixed the pipe, and turned my water back on. Servepro came out and set the fans up to dry up the water. I was told to take my clothes to the cleaners, which I did, and Matt said that he would send someone out to spray the ceiling, put my insulation in the attic and shampoo my carpets.

After 37 call (all made by me) and four months later, one of which clothes and boxes were spread all over my bedroom, I am still waiting to have my carpets to be done.

I don't feel that it should have been my burdon to keep calling them to find out whan the project that they set into motion would be completed! And 4 monthe is far too long to wait for it's completion.

Please, when you see these people coming to your homes, do not let them out of your site. They will not perform as they indicate to you that they would.
