Dave Aragon of Aragon Concrete did a patio for me in May of 2012. I hired him because he had done my daughters patio, and my son in law worked with Dave's brother, who was also a police officer.
Initially, Dave was friendly and more than happy to do the work we needed done. He also offerred a discount for us because of the law enforcement connection. It went downhill after the first visit, Dave told us it would take a week to complete the patio, however it took 4 weeks. We did not have any weather or anything that deterred him from doing the job, it was simply that Dave did not show up to work. We called him many times to find out where he was - we had other contractors coming in and Dave's inability to complete his job held up our other contractors also.
We could not get dave to give us a contract, we asked him every week about it, but he always put us off. We did not get the contract until the day the work was completed and then he demanded we pay the balance due immediately or he would raise the price. He would not even allow us 24 hours to inspect the patio. He was hostile, yelling and very threatening at this point.
Dave also had us pay his subs directly, which is fine, but he neglected to ever mention this to us. So we would end up rushing around to meet his subcontractors. The only contractor we did not pay directly was O'Brien Concrete. We ended up getting a bill for the concrete a month after we paid Dave his final amount due. Dave listed the concrete pouring in his contract, so we did not know that he would not/or did not pay them. O'Brien Concrete was excellent to deal with, and they also filed a report with BBB becasue Dave did not pay them. Dave still owes us $700.00 for this.
Dave did not come back and cut the joints in the concrete until it had already hardened. They are supposed to be cut before it sets completely. which has caused problems.
Our Patio has many cracks in it, Aragon Concrete states that they will guarantee their work up to a year. I have called Dave many many times. I even posted something on their shutterfly to see if he would answer us there. To date he has not called us back. He has not refunded the money that we had to pay to O'Brien Conctete, and he has not ever repaired the cracks. He will not even answer my questions on how and when I need to reseal the concrete.
I would not ever choose Aragon concrete to do a job again. I am not a vindictive person and I am not exaggerating any of this. I have given them plenty of opportunities to remedy this situation. I also filed a report with the BBB.
