Authority Tax Services Reviews

  • Mar 5, 2015

I had hired Authority Tax Service in 2013 to handle my Federal and State Taxes. Authority Tax had informed me that i own the IRS over $27,000.00 dollars that wasnot true.

Authority Tax did not do anything or work for me in over 1 year and 3 months.

I had contacted the IRS and State department and handle alll of my taxes issues myself.

The Authority tax services that we choose to help us with making a settlement with the IRS and State taxes. We made an appointment and being that we had a letter from the IRS that currently our debt was consider as non-collectible, but a lien was put against our house. we had a meeting with who we were told was an attorney and the team that was behind us to help us with the settlement! We were told that if we paid them $5,600 instead of $6,600 that would expidite the process form 1year to 6 months. We were given a package with the business card with the person that was going to be available for us to call anytime. The first time that I called I was transfer to an office in Los Angeles not to Irvine, which is were we paid the money, that we had to borrow! I Luz Legarreta had battle cancer and explain that to them at the time of the appointment and the IRS new that that is why we were put in the catagory of not collectible because of me. The only item that Authority tax services ever send us was a form for us to make copies, and write what we had paid for utilities, food. gas, and the most unbeliable records of what we had personally spend since 2009 to 2013. When I called to ask why was that information needed it took me 1 month to finally speak to a 22year old employee from Authority tax services to ask her why we needed to give them all of that information? Her response was to get very aggresive with me, and i couldn't get an answer from her! We turn all of our returns that had not been mailed (because the so call attorney told us to turn them over to them because they could process them to the IRS and State faster, because they ha d direct contact with both.

This nightmare was started feb 2014 (remember we paid extra to have everything settle in less than 6 months). My husband ronald legarreta has called over 100 times and was told that the team was working on trying to do the settlement. lOur taxes that were turn over to the Authority to filed with the IRS and Stete were never turn in! We drove several times to irvine and there was never anybody from our group ever in the office and we were told that somebody from our group would call us back ASAP (That never happen, we are still waiting) Now when you call all you get its that call later that their phones are temporally not operating, not disconnected! What is the difference. When we started working with the Tax Authority we had a very good chance to negotiate with the IRS and State of California( now we are in the worse shape ever we owe $5,600.00 according to the IRS and State we have not filed our taxes, th Tax Authority never filed anything! What did we get for our money, absolutely nothing. We need help from somebody. They took our money and did nothing but Rip-us off and cause me personally so much medical problems. I hope that stop them from doing damage to more people like us that need help! And I hope that we even I know that to get our money back its going to take a miracle! Anybody that reads this please be very careful. We did everything before we chose to go with Tax Authority, the main reason was that my husband went because he saw the advetisement many many times every time he was seeing the lakers on CNN (A very reputable tv channel ) How wrong that decision was! MY NAME IS LUZ AN I LIVE IN SAN DIMAS CA

Authority Tax Services

My overall experience with Authority has been a great one. My case manager, Peter Sabatino, was attentive, informative, and steered me in the right direction in resolving my IRS case. I owed over $90K, and he got me an offer for $2,500. Thank you, Authority, and thank you, Peter.

On February 4, 2014 I received a letter/ package from the IRS requesting back-up paperwork to support my 2012 tax return, within 30 days. I immediately became alarmed, frightened, and sick to the stomach simultaneously. I had never dealt with the IRS other than filing my tax returns religiously every year and on time. I aimlessly existed as myself for a day without mentioning or speaking to anyone about my dilemma.

On the February 6, 2014, while driving to work I heard an advertisement about how the “Tax Authority LLC“ could help me. I pondered, thought to myself this is a blessing sent from GOD, and called. My phone call was immediately answered by a gentleman by the name of Anthony. I began to elaborate in detail the situation I was in and expressed the IRS needed a response by March 3, 2014. Anthony was relentless while making a sales pitch, yet he spoke in terms as though he was the one that would be handling my case. He assured me that his office would negotiate with the IRS to lower amount owed and\or get me into a low payment schedule if necessary. Anthony also stated it would behoove me to act fast and sign a service agreement so that they would have time to prepare my case properly. It was a Thursday and I relayed to him I would give it some thought and would give him a call back on Monday. He obliged and gave me his personal cell number to reach him over the weekend just in case I had additional questions.

On Friday Feb. 7, 2014 Anthony called me; again reminding me that he had prepared a service agreement and was prepared email to me for signature. I explained he could email but I wouldn’t be signing, if at all until Monday. On Saturday Anthony called again, after checking around on the internet for other attorneys, not referring to the BBB I relented, filled out, and signed the service agreement while providing my checking account information. I was billed on the same day (Saturday) after emailing information back to Anthony.

On Monday I called the office and I couldn’t get in touch with Anthony. I called l all day Monday and finally reached him on Tuesday on his personal cell. He stated he would be in touch with me but to provide the information requested by his office. I did and never heard from them again. During the interim I have contacted this company and never can reach anyone except maybe the operator. I worried but assumed they had provided the IRS the information as required.

On June 26, 2014 I receive a letter from the IRS stating they had received my information but had not received the documents they initially requested and the amount had changed due to interest and penalties. The Tax Authorities LLC did not provide all the information I had given to them nor did they copy me as promised on all correspondence t the IRS. I have call Tax Authorities LLC and was put in contact with a young lady named Elizabeth Ure. Again she sounded sincere and expressed her apology for my inconvenience. She said she would look at my file and get back with me. I have heard from her once and again I am being run around.

This company has to be stopped they are taking hard earned cash from people that have entrusted their life to them.

Called company, set appointment with Jeff Perkins. Met with him after 1 hour wait. He asked for specifics of my issue.

He set followup appointment after taking $800.00. Went through 4 case managers befor anyone claimed to be my rep.

Over 20 hours spent on phone trying to get to talk to someone. Cancelled my account and kept the money saying I didn't send them enough information. Re opened accout with additional $300.00. Still can't get anyone on the phone. Pity the poor receptionist. When the phone is answered she tries to get some one on the phone but cannot. She keeps trying but finally gives up and hangs up. Today after 4 phone calls to no avail, talking to several receptionist types befor being hung up on. I give up and call in desparation, finally get a guy who blames me. Try it for your self. Try to get ahold of:

1)Jeff Perkins, 2) Jackie Ramariz, 3) Peter Sabatino, 3)Katlyn Christain, the list goes on and on.

Liars, cheats, and thiefs. Period.

I made the biggest mistake of signing up with Authority tax services, not knowing what a big scam they are. I signed up back on Nov. 21, 2013 with tax advisor Scott Weeker. Before I signed, I've informed him that, I don't feel good about making decisions on the spot like this, with a company I don't know, and especially over the phone without meeting face to face. Scott Weeker assured me that they have over millions of clients and will not risk the company's reputation to scam one client for a few thousands. He also said I have 3 days to read up on the company and if I change my mind, I can cancel at any time before the 3rd day.

After I signed, I did some reading up on the company, and did more reading that evening. There were too many negative comments and not one that's positive, so I called Scott Weeker the next morning and told him I wanted to cancel my contract. He asked me why and I said, I just don't feel good about my decision after reading all the negative comments. He then got rude and started telling me I was making a big mistake and how I'm going to ruin my corporation because of my bad decision. I informed him again, that I did not call for his opinion about me, I just need him to cancel my contract as I am still within the 3 days cancellation policy. He continued to be rude, so I raised my voice and said ""please cancel my contract, end of discussion"" and hung up. Months later, found out that my credit card company was not able to resolve the dispute because Authority tax serives claimed they provided services to me already. I called Authority tax, only to find out that Scott Weeker was no longer with the company. I explained to the ATS what had happened between me and Scott Weeker and I also requested for a second dispute through my credit card company, however, the result was still the same.

Today, I've requested for a 3rd dispute and again called Authority tax. I was informed that there’s no documentation on my contract cancellation by Scott Weeker. I was told by ATS supervisor Thomas that there will not be any refund due to “no documentation of a cancellation”. I trusted that when I called to cancel, my contract would be cancelled, no where in the contract did it state that I need to make my cancellation in writing. ATS is a bad business, do not get involved with them. I am waiting to see the result from the 3rd dispute, if it doesn't get resolved, I will be seeking a lawyer. If there are any lawyers out there who has handle cases similar to this, please contact me with your info. Thank you!
