Bella Toy Maltese Reviews

These people sold us what was supposedly a "toy maltese", that would grow to 5-6 lbs. Our dog is 9.5 lbs, and is obviously not a toy maltese. It's impossible to tell until now. They have shut down their website, however there is now a "littlebellatoymaltese" website in the same area, with dogs at the same price point. BEWARE!! The woman from Castro Valley on this site had a similar complaint. we love our dog, but we were ripped off.

I bought a Maltese dog from Bella Toy Maltese in 2012. He was supposed to be a 4.5lb dog and he is 2 years old and over 9lb - that doesn't bother me as long as he doesn't have a major health problem BUT I was deceived to think they were good people as Carol Hardy and her husband Roger Hardy have told us her sister breeds the dog.

I'm not from USA and it is common in my country to get dogs from family breeding, I've never heard of reputable breeders before and not knowing by then about Puppy Mills and their practices, I did believe on them. Their house looked clean, the dogs looked clean and well taken care of, nothing showed to be a red flag. They were loving and kind.

Later on I've joined an online forum and start educating myself over breeding practices. With that I decided to fully investigate my dog's AKC paperwork to find out he comes from a Puppy Mill, the breeder Linda Brasher, Elite Puppies Havana, AR has a USDA inventory reports show they are large commercial operations - 2008 Adult Dog Count 225 dogs. I have contact Carol Hardy (the broker) before asking her to clarify this situation and she denies everything, deleted my posts and ignored the facts I've found about them.

Here is more info about Linda Brasher Puppy Mill - Jul-29-08: Housing Facilities – The surfaces that the animals come into contact with were dirty with grime and caked on feces. The enclosure floors, walls and doors must be cleaned regularly and the animal wastes removed daily from the enclosures. This would reduce bacterial build-up and help to assure the animal’s good health. Jul-11-2006 Cleaning, Sanitation, Housekeeping – The back walls of the enclosures, with the outside runs, have a buildup of dirt, grime and caked on feces on them.
