Best Movers of America, Inc. Reviews

Best Movers of America was requested to bid on moving which they did. I thought a fair and honest rquote was issued. On May 28 a deposit was made for a July move. The Crew of two came late, did not honor the bid, changed the pricing another $800 upwards and said no move would be paid unless I paid the money. Best Movers was not help. This is bait and switch and exhortion. Needing to move, of course I paid the extra money and needed to sign a new agreement. I am now pursuing legal action.

Do not use this company. The head office is providing no support to resolve the issue. A contrator was used instead of the company.

Best Movers of America (BMOA) provided an estimate of $3540.00 for my move from Florida to Nevada. However, after half of my possessions were loaded into the truck, contrary to the law, BMOA and its subsidy sky moving & storage, inc that came to pick up my load, announced that there would be additional cost of $1300.00. This is a violation of Federal laws regulating interstates moving contracts, which prohibits charging more than 10% of the moving estimates prices aftter the goods are loaded into the truck. BMOA did not show up on the date agreed upon 8/24/14, and choose to show up on 8/25/14 although I clearly said 4-5 time I will not be home because I am starting a new job, and purposely took my goods hostage to their storage so they can charge me an extra $950.00 for storage and redelivery. I asked them to wait for 4 hours until I got off work and refused.

Furthermore, my goods sustained substantial amount of damages and/or losts as follow: 1) Master bedroom headbord & mirrow split in half and broken beyond repaired, 2) mattress and spring box with holes and wire strings sticking out 3) recliner armrest ripped and with holes, 4) night stand damaged and missing handle and nobs, 5) heaboard screws stripped/torned with holes unrepairable, 6) headboard light damaged and missing, 7) missing and lost remotes in boze sound system and TV's, 8 armoire and chest drawers damaged/broken, 9) office desk taken apart, refused to assemble, missing parts.

BMOA and its subsidies sky moving & storage, inc are organized crimes organizations involving in extortion, overcharging, robbing their customers blind with countless amounts of complaints. I am baffled that such companies are still allowed to continue the shaddy practices, where are the regulating authorities who licensed those companies?

I was extremely disappointed with the service provided by Best Movers of America. The company completely lied to me several times (in email and via phone) as to the nature of their business. Rather than being the proper carrier that they said they were, they brokered out my shipment to two different companies, President and HO Transportation respectively. I specifically asked numerous times if the truck that would be coming would be a Best Movers of America truck. The pick up truck was an unmarked Budget truck. I would have chosen a more reputable mover who would have traveled with my shipment in its on vehicle the entire way so as to keep track of my possessions better had I known Best Movers was a broker.

I was not kept in the loop as far as a fair pick up time window, thereby wasting hours sitting in an empty house. The truck arrived at 10:15 pm. The driver finished pick up and drove off at 11:15 pm. The pick up window was supposed to be 9:00-11:00 am that day. That's not a delay; that's just unprofessional and rude to keep someone waiting an entire day, particularly when they're in the middle of moving and have to get so many things done. Though I asked to be kept apprised on the time frame, I was not given the driver's contact information to keep in touch with him.

The pick up driver refused to wrap my filing cabinets, so they were delivered scratched up.

I had confirmed on several occasions that I would be able to choose to pay my shipment by weight not cubic feet (which was also one of the determining factors in my choosing them over 15 other companies)and was horrified to find out that the pick up driver would not allow me to accompany him to a weigh station to see the actual weight of the shipment. He absolutely refused, stating that he was not going to unpack and repack the truck. Every reputable moving company goes to a weigh station to properly weigh a shipment before and after loading so that there is an accurate read. He would only charge by cubic feet, though it clearly stated otherwise on the quote. Fortunately, my shipment fell under the minimum cubic feet.

The shipment was then transferred from the unmarked Budget Rental truck to another company's truck in NY. If I had wanted a random person with a Budget truck to move me, I would have found one on Craigslist. Unacceptable and a blatant lie.

I was also told that the delivery driver would only accept cash or money order upon delivery. I pointed out that I even had Best Movers put that I could pay by "cashiers check" upon pick up on the quote, but the driver said my shipment would be delivered if I didn't have a money order or cash. When I tried to contact Best Movers of America, they didn't return my call with regard to payment or delivery.

I have never been so disappointed in a service. Moving is stressful enough that it's horrible for a company to lure a customer in under false pretenses and then make them stress the entire time about whether or not their goods will be picked up or delivered safely.

Horrible Company! This company is by far one of the worst I have ever dealt with. Customer Service is nonexistent; they alter contracts without consent, misrepresent themselves, lack professionalism, and have very shady business practices. I initially contracted their services because they promised to deliver by a specific date and they offered price matching. Everything was fine until they loaded my belongings. Once they had my belongings in their possession, I was told I owed them more money because I failed to give an accurate description with my initial over the phone inventory list. Although, I told the "specialist" on the phone that I could only provide a vague description of the items. I was told I needed to pay more money or my things would never be shipped. I asked for a new contract stating the additional charges at which point I received an e-mail saying "you've paid this and you owe this." I informed the company that this would not suffice. I needed a new contract, they sent me the contract we originally signed with the old price scratched out and the new price written on the side. They did not issue me a new contract to resign.

I had no problem paying but I was then told that I would have to put cash into their bank account. At which point, this seemed extremely shady. They had my credit card on file but refused to charge the additional monies to the card. They said that if I wanted my belongings sooner rather than within the 14 days they "by law" have to deliver them; although they had already agreed on a specific date, that I would have to deposit cash into their account. Feeling like this would not be in my best interest I deposited a check and since we both banked with the same bank, I was told by the bank that this would clear by the end of the night. The company refused to ship my belongings claiming that there was an internal policy that states checks take 4-5 days to process and if I would have just done what they told me and deposited cash, they would not have to delay my shipment and additional 4-5 days.

After having a bank representative contact them and confirm that they money was readily available and that the bank was not processing anything, they continued to fight with the bank representative on the phone and said that it's "their" policy. Best Movers of America contacted me 7 days after I deposited the check saying that the items were shipped and I should expect them over the weekend. This is an entire week past the agreed upon delivery date. They then informed me that I owed them even more money because their employee made a mistake when calculating the additional fees the first time. I said that I could not be held responsible for a mistake their employee made and was told I had no choice but to pay them. I informed him that he had 7 days to catch this error and send a new contract but waited until the items were shipped to inform me of additional fees; I told him this was unacceptable.

The movers arrived that Saturday without calling the day before to confirm their arrival as I was told they would. Luckily I just so happened to be home in order to receive them. At which point, I realized the movers were merely contracted out by Best Movers of America and did not work for them at all. They requested payment before unloading my belongings and asked for more money than I was told on the call a few days before. The movers then called the company who told them I was to pay them the amount mentioned on the call a few days before and nothing less. For fear that my belongings would be held hostage I ended up paying. This company definitely practices price gouging and should not be allowed to treat consumers like this.
