Better Deals Contracting Reviews

I entered into a contract with this company to build a concrete slab to park a motorhome on, as well as a few other home improvements, such as paint the house and seal an asphalt driveway. I did not do the due diligence, which one should do, to insure the concrete contractor possessed the knowledge to perform the work or was running a registered business. He worked the easy stuff first and left the hard stuff (concrete slab) for last. They mismanaged the job and had cost overruns. They were unable to purchase the materials needed to build the slab and asked for an advance on the job. Dummy me gave it to them. For the most part, he stopped working on the job after he got the additional advance and went into the delay and excuse mode. The job was supposed to be a 2 - 3 week job and after a little more than 2 months, I had to hire another concrete contractor to come in and finish up the job. This liar and cheat agreed that he should at least return the advanced funds to me but wouldn't do it unless I accepted his terms to pay it out over months. I sued him and won a judgement for twice the amount I was asking him to return back to me to just bring the whole affair to a close. ( I guess he thought it was OK for me to be an interest free bank funding his business operation.)

I'm posting my experience with him and his company so that others in my area might not get ripped off by him, as well. Texas doesn't have as good of consumer protection as a lot of other states do by requiring these kind of contractors to be licensed to do their work and have to pull permits, by county, to work these sort of jobs. That puts the consumer in a position of buyer beware. Hopefully my story will help prevent others from going through what I went through.
