I was doing online searches for a home in the location and price range I wanted to purchase and placed a request inline to see one home. Beverly Davis of Better Homes & Garden Real Estate of Atlanta, GA showed up to show the home. To make a long story short, 3 days later I placed an offer on the home conditional on its passing a thorough inspection. The very next morning Beverly disappeared, going to Texas on vacation for 8 days and leaving me no access to the property while the inspection period was running.
Once the property was finally inspected, the seller and his raltor had frauduntly misprepresented the property to the tune of an estimated $20,000 to $25,000 in problems. Beverly had refused to put my questions to the seller, and when i requested an extension of the inspection period to get firm bids on the cost of repairs, saying I was still interested, Beverly simply walked away form the transaction -- aborting all my efforts in mid-stream. Previously, I had filed 3 complaints against her for failing and/or refusing to do her job and gone in person 3 times to the local office of Better Homes & Garden Realty asking fot help, but was refused any cooperation.
Once I withdrew my offer because BHGRE refused to work with me, I was defrauded out of $1,907 (3 months of my Social Security -- all I have to live on) by Better Homes & Garden Real Estate. I've spent 3 months trying to recover those monies. Moreover, BHGRE attempted to extort another $3,915 from me saying I was still "under contract" to them even after then had cut of all communications with me and told me they wanted nothing more to do with me.
Moreover, after the fact, they altered the email communications between Beverly Davis and me and falisfied information to fit their chosen scenario -- whcch may be a violation of the Federal Wire Fraud Act sincce internet communicatins were destoryed.
I'm 81 and live on Social Security and now have to funds to settle into the home I purchased via another company's agent, have no gas or food money, etc. I've been put through hell at 81 by this ruthless company.
BHGRE rendered me financiall destitute with their manipulation and fraud schemes. In my opinion, Better Homes & Garden Real Estate is worse that the New York Mafia -- having dealt with both. The Mafia never went after the elderly but protected them, as well as children. BHGRE cares about no one.
Beware of this company. They are incompetent, uncaring, unethical, manipulative, exploitative and a really crapping bunch of people. Even the coporate office in Madison, NJ would not communicate with me when I asked for their help.
We need Federal laws making real estate fraud a Federal crime, especially since much of the money involved in such transactions crosses tate line.
