On July 16 2014 i had a inflammed gum on toothe #27 with a deep pocket of 9mm . I sa 2 diferent periodontists

in the city where i live. BOTH periodontists from different offices said it was necessary to have osseous surgery

to keep the tooth, to have the damage from infecting other parts of the gum and mouth. I had the surgey done

BUt according to Blue Shield Dental their "experts" deceided that it wa not "necessary". that was the letter they mailed me in the denial of benefits. I have been with blue Shield Dental for 2 years now have never missed a payment . I trreid to get help from teh Dept of Managed Health Care in Sacrrement Ca still NO help. IF this is the way people who are covered pay the premium on time are treated i feel it is unfair , they are trying to save money by denying cases like this to keep their so called"reserves" in the billions.

Received a letter directly from Blue Shield claiming I contacted them to initiate a change to my policy. This change, according to the letter, is going to result in higher insurance rates for my healthcare insurance. The letter further says, that due to a system issue, I would not see the high rate until the next billing period. Very strange that they could send me a notice about a cost increase, but conveniently their "other" system had an issue.

The facts are simple, I nor anyone in my household ever contacted Blue Shield about any changes to our policy. This whole thing is a scam to arbitrarily increase our rates under the completely false claim that I, the subscriber, initialed a change. I can only assume this letter went out to thousands or tens of thousands of Blue Shield subscribers in an attempt to pad Blue Shields pockets with millions more dollars.

We contacted Blue Shield and called them out on it.

They were very vague with answers but finally conceded that we, in fact, did not contact them nor did we request any changes to our policy. If we hadn't gone through all of this effort to expose this scam, we would be getting even higher bills from Blue Shield.

We also received another notice from Blue Shield that they are arbitaruly raising our rates next year. We have been paying in almost $1000 per month for a plan with virtually no benefits to my family. We have barely even used the policy. And yet they have decided to raise our rates. I guess they didn't like being caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Originally I used BlueShield since I was freelancing. Now that I'm working full time and have the option of using my employer's insurance, it should be simple enough to cancel. However, there's literally no way to find a cancellation option on BlueShield's website.

When I tried calling, I was on hold for hours until the line simply disconnected. It didn't matter which day or time, there was always too many people calling at one time, so I could not ask how to cancel.

It was only until I discovered they have a Twitter help account that actually provided some assistance. The generic reply was to use a special contact form. The form is useless if you don't provide a phone number for THEM to reach you at their convenience. You only have one opportunity per contact form. After wasting much time trying to get an answer, I get an email from them literally saying that my policy is cancelled effective January 1, 2014. [continued below]....

However, few weeks pass and I get a bill saying I have to pay by June 1st, 2014. There's no getting through to them on cancelling your policy. This is not just affecting me, if you take a look on their Facebook page, you see dozens of complains on every post from other victims saying they cannot cancel either.

I honestly cannot understand why this company is still in business or even allowed to do this to paying customers who spend thousands every year.
