Staying at this Hostel was a huge mistake. Its hot in Brazil and this place has no AC. When I got to my room I had to kill at least 20 plus mosquitos, the place is infested with bugs. Its in a terrible location. Every time you want to go to City Center (the main part of town) you have to pay for a van to pick you up with takes over 30 minutes. So anytime you want to go to restaurant, store, Club, Bar, etc its 30 minutes there and 30 back. The cab ride cost around 40R one way and takes about 25 minutes.
That's not even the worst part. The guy who runs this place tries to scam foreigners.
He only accepts cash (probably so he can pocket the money and avoid taxes). And he charges you a lot of hidden fees. For example he'll act like he's your friend and offer you a beer but then when its time to go he'll change you for it. He'll charge you for towels, soap, breakfast (even though he claims its free on the site) a fan, any drink or food he offers you, etc., at an inflated price. You literally have to carry a pen and paper around and document everything you do because he'll charge you for things you didn't expect and you need to make sure he's not charging you for extra things.
I'd recommend avoiding this place. There's much better, and honest, Hostels and Hotels in City Center you can stay at for the same price or less (without all the hidden fees). Good Luck and Safe Travels:)
