I'm in the final year of studies at CSU. I'm a well established practitioner, but was seeking a context to formalize some studies and expand opportunities. It really comes down to want you're willing to put into it… "and in the end, the love you make."
Embarrassingly poor quality "education" and unacceptable "training" for PsyD students. The curriculum does not include any real experience in assessment or therapy. Therefore, their students never actually see any testing materials (let alone practice administering) nor a live patient during all of their "doctoral" training. Many students have the toughest time finding practicum sites. Even if a student is lucky enough to find--beg--a licensed psychologist to supervise her practicum, she is ill-prepared for any real life, face-to-face work with a live patient who is in need of help. This is a diploma mill. Faculty profiles also indicate that a bulk of their faculty were also trained at those sub-par, for-profit, mass-marketed programs that admit anyone who pays tuition. Look up the admission rates (very high) and the EPPP pass rates (very low). Do not go here. Waste of time and money.
