This company advertises on Kijiji and in their advertisement they say they have ""new unused demo models"" of appliances. I purchased a washer dryer combo. I noticed some scratches on the units and questioned the salesman/owner and he claimed they happened during delivery and being floor models. I paid $750 for these units. Upon closer inspection when I was attempting to install them, the dryer was missing the feet and the lid was badly scratched. I didn't noticed these problems because they were stacked when I purchased them. I called them immediately about this and they told me to remove the lid and they would replace it. I removed the lid and say a manufacturing dated sticker. THESE WERE 10 YEARS OLD!! I would NEVER have purchased these to replace my 8 year old working machines!! I arrived on time to have my parts replaced and the store was closed. I have tried MANY times to contact them. The salesman was vulgar and outright lied to me face to face. I would gladly join any legal action lawsuit to see these criminals are held accountable. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau to no avail.

Purchased a "new" washer from Mike Sutton, owner of Canadian Appliance Surplus, 22 King St E Dundas, Ontario in April of 2014. Paid $600.00. This included a 1 year parts/labour/exchange warranty. Mike set the machine up and started it. As he was leaving it went into the spin cycle. It was very loud for what is supposed to be a quiet machine (Whirlpool). He assured me this was normal. I called Mike back within the week and left a message for him to call me re this machine. It was getting louder. No return call. I called several other times (May) and still no call. I then called from a different phone number and surprise I got a call back. I explained that a bearing appeared to have gone on this machine. He knew immediately who I was, and he said he would bring a new one on Monday. ( June) I have not seen or heard from him since . On my last call I got the message that he would be out of the office until July 12, 2014. I am, needless to say, disappointed as I now still need a washing machine.

Follow Up

Hi

Saw the review that you posted about Canadian Appliance Liquidators. Unfortunately we fell for the same scam recently. We bought a couple of items from them which turned out to be faulty. He refuses to replace them or even refund our money. The name of the company has now changed to King of Appliances but still same location and owner (Mike Sutton). Not sure how far you got with your complaint but we are planning to take them to court and start an official investigation to make sure this doesn’t happen to any more people. If you are interested in joining us, please send us an email: [email protected]

Same thing happened to me.

I bought a washer from them, and found the washer defective, and the drum makes a terrible noises. But he said it is new ....We talk to him immediately and ask to return. First calling he answered and said he will repaired my old washer ( just 5 years old) and swap it. Then we never get him call back and leave many messages to him, but no body call us back. He is cheating our customer. Who knows how to get our money back and make the person get punished. We appreciate the people who care about that.

It is really true. Do not buy his stuffs , he is cheating and has lost his credit.

By the way, Friends, is it useful to contact the "Better Business Bureau"? And how to contact them. I will support you.

Scam Artist for too long!!!!

We found King of Appliances (aka Canadian Appliance Liquidators) ad on Kijiji and purchased a "refurbished, good working condition" fridge and stove with a 1 yr parts/service warranty. Needless to say, when we brought it home, neither worked. We called Mike Sutton (Store Owner) @ 905-536-5019 (cell)/905-628-9804 (shop) on a Saturday and got his 'friend' who told us Mike was away on a business trip. He listened to our issue and promised a technician would arrive on Monday to fix both. No call, no show on Monday for the tech. We called back numerous times for the remainder of the week and when we told them we were going to escalate this, the friend told us to f off. We called the following Saturday and I finally spoke to Mike who was shocked to hear of the customer service we were getting and promised to ship in 3 working stoves from his Toronto store to the Dundas warehouse and that we could come in on Monday to pick which one we'd like in exchange.

Monday came and went - the tech no showed and we didn't get any call either. We resorted to having someone else come in to fix both. The issue with the fridge was the sensor. BUT...to our horror, the stove was a disaster waiting to happen. The burners did not line up to the glass top circles. Worse yet, the wires were all burnt and there was a piece of cardboard shoved between the burners and if we had turned it on for a longer period of time, the stove would have caught on fire. There are 3 young kids and a pregnant mom living at this residence!!! We have called at least 3 times a day every day since (the last 5 days) and he finally responded telling me that he has no intention of calling me back now or ever because we inquired with BBB. His final words were to tell me to F Off and that my wife is a c**t.

I am furious. There is no accountability and care for the fact that he endangered my family. I will not let this guy scam others. He has been doing this for too long (internet research and digging) and I am trying to help others before it’s too late.

TVs

Kijiji ad selling LG TVs. Claims they are new out of the box. By appointment only weekends. Said to call back if was interested. Called back no answer. Same address 22 king St east in Dundas was the address. So beware. Confident it would have been the same issue. False ad, false representation of products.

I answered an add on kijiji advertising brand new scratch and dent washer and dryer for sale. The set I was interested in had been sold but he said he had lots more to choose from if I wanted to come take a look. When I got there I browsed around and he showed me an GE front load dryer and said the matching washer was in the warehouse. He told me they were brand new scratch and dent machines, so I didn't really take a thorough look. I was also looking for two stoves so I picked out an electric stove and he showed me a picture of a nice gas stove on a big box store website and said he had the same one in the warehouse but was waiting for the oven door glass to come in so he could repair it and then it would be in new condition. So I left him a deposit of of 50% of the total $1800.00. After multiple attempts to set up a delivery date he finally delivered three of the four appliances I ordered all wrapped up and packaged looking like new.

I moved the appliances into the house unwrap them and hooked them all up ready to use. Later that evening my wife and I go to use our "brand new" washer and open the door to be hit with an awful smell. The door seal was soaked with little gray flakes of paint all over it and was full of black mould under it. Then we looked in the dryer and the entire inside of the drum had been spray painted as well as the inside of the lint trap with lint still in it!!! We turned on the washer and it started to pour water out the bottom and the dryer made a hideous scraping sound as if the drum was rubbing on something inside. After many attempts to reach him I had to use another email address for home to finally answer me and even then he never showed up for our appointments and later emailed me angry because I had told another person that he had missed his appointment with at his shop about what he had done to me. After a nasty back and forth through email his final answer was to take him to court.

got scammed as well

We fell for his kijiji ad as well. We just bought a house and were trying to save on appliances. Should have known the deal was too good to be true. Bought a matching washer and drier. Supposed to be last years model, Washer was making terrible noises on spin cycle and told it's the drum and bearing. Made several calls as well and no calls returned. Sad that people like this exist. We have decided to take him to small claims court. Not sure how people like this sleep at night.
