BOUGHT 4 BOXES OF STEAKS FROM DAN BIGGAM AT CAPITAL MEATS OR SHOULD I SAY DOG MEAT OFF DAN WHO WAS A REP FOR CAPITAL MEATS. I WAS TOLD IF I DIDNT LIKE IT I WOULD GET A REFUND OR REPLACEMENT. WELL COME TO FIND OUT AFTER A MONTH OF TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF THE COMPANY AND DAN. MANY PHONE CALLS LATER WITH NO RESPONSE FROM EITHER THAT THEY WONT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK FOR THE ROAD KILL I BOUGHT OFF OF THEM. READ THE RECIEPT................... YOU HAVE 3 DAYS TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK, WHAT A JOKE AND THAT IS NOT WHAT DAN TOLD ME WHEN I BOUGHT THEM. THE MEAT DOES LOOK LIKE ROAD KILL AND TASTE LIKE SOMETHING MY DOG EATS AND I WOULDNT EVEN GIVE THE REMAINDER TO MY DOG, LOL. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE GOT RIPPED OFF. AND NOTHING BUT A RUN AROUND. NOT TO MENTION I MET A FEW OF THEIR EMPLOYEES AFTER THE FACT AND THEY ARE FILTHY AND SOME LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE A DRUG PROBLEM. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, IT IS A TOTAL RIP OFF...............

On 10/23/13, 2 men selling meats, chicken, seafood from a company called Capital Meats came to my door with a sales pitch. I let them in to hear their deals, against my better judgement. After explianing their product to me, they gave me the price (with tax) was $826.17 for an almost year-long supply of meat. I explained that I didn't have $826.17 that day, nor would I have that kind of extra money on any day. The salesman, Ty Hopkins, told me not to worry - that he would take payments from me because he ""had to get this meat off his truck"". Their sales tactics were very aggressive and he would not take no for an answer. Every reason I had to not be able to buy the meat, he had a rebuttal that sounded like I was getting the best possible deal and we’d figure it out. We agreed that I'd make a few payments, beginning in November until I was paid in full. He told that in order to show his manager that he'd made a sale - that I should write him a check for the full amount and that he would give me a receipt stating that he'd save it for 30 days. But before the end of the 30 days, he'd come back to my house and rip up that check and I could make my 1st payment. I asked him countless times to assure me that he'd never cash that check - because I don't have that kind of extra money as a single mother of 2. He promised he wouldn't cash it.

On Friday, November 29th - my check was cashed in its entirety. Leaving me minus $826.17 and the inability to pay my rent for December.

I made countless phone calls to various numbers I had for the company - I spoke with Dawn Funkhouser in Customer Service, who was very helpful and also Lisa Stallings in the Capital Heights office. Both of which told me that they would do what they could to get it resolved and I would likely get refunded. Today, I spoke with Ty Hopkins who told me that he recalls no such conversation and also with his boss (the corporate manager) named Joe. Ty and Joe both told me that I signed the receipt and agreed for the check to be held for 30 days and it's not their problem - that we are now in a ""he said, she said"" situation. I would've never written someone a check for such a large amount without the agreement that it would not be cashed and I could make payments, as we had arranged. I am a single mother and it is 3 weeks before Christmas. I now don't have the funds to pay my monthly rent and this situation leaves me in a very bad position.
