I looked up the value for my cellphone on their website. Valued at $223 by the website. Mailed the phone to them. They acknowledged receiving the phone and sent me a check for $32. I was never given the chance to refuse that value and get my phone back. Needless to say they don't answer their phone. Better Business Bureau shows over 400 complaints.

Okay, so I just went through this process and it's all bad!!! I have never written a review for anything online. That should tell you how bad this is.

I sent CashForLaptops.com a fully functional, not broken, dented or scratched 3 year old MacBook Pro (I decided to switch to the Air). Their on-line quote of $500 seemed more than fair but I assumed that they'd come in around $250 or $300 and save me the trouble of having to sell it myself.

I got the impression from their website that they would contact me with the price they were willing to pay prior to finalizing the deal. That is not at all the way this works!

About 2 weeks after I sent my computer I received an email saying they had sent payment. I instantly had a bad feeling because that email did not specify a payment amount. I sent an email asking the amount and was told that it was available online. Logged in and was not able to locate a payment amount. Spent 15 minutes on the phone in their customer service queue before I hung up disgusted. Four days later (today) I received a check for $40.

I just got off the phone with a CashForLaptops.com customer service person. I asked some very pointed questions which he very cagily tried to avoid answering.

Here are the salient highlights: No, they don't contact you to get your approval on the amount they are wiling to pay! They just send the check and an email saying a check (for an unspecified amount) is in the mail. If you do not contact them within 3 days of receiving that email notice, not the check, the deal is final. It took 4 days for the $40 check to reach my house.

Not quite thieves, but really close to it. I can not imagine how the people who work for this company must feel about themselves. They've got to be pretty hard up for work to work for a place like that. I know how the owners feel; they feel like they are making easy money. But they had better save it because this gig won't last for long. The word will get out.

I had a 3 month old Iphone 5C 32gb that I wanted to sell in brand new condition. On or around 10/1/14, I found a website cashforiphones. I entered very specific information about my phone and got a quote for $265.00 that I screen printed for proof of the quote. I accepted the quote and the company mailed me a postage paid box. I took pictures of my phone and had 3 witnesses to it's brand new condition. I disabled the "find my phone" and followed all the instructions of this company and even included the charger which was not required.

I got an email from the company on 10/16/14 stating they had received my phone. On 10/2614 I received a check in the mail from Laptop and Desktop Repair LLC for $42.00. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. They have 781 complaints filed against them as of today. Do not do business with this company.

If you call their phone number it will just put you on hold indefinitely that is why I chose to file a complaint with the BBB.

This company gives you a quote to buy your Iphone but after you send in your phone they send you way less than the origional qoute. they do not answer you e-mails and I was told that because I did not call them by phone within 5 days of recieving your quote that means you accept the quote. I e-mailed them I did not wanted my Iphone back but they do not responed to e-mails so now they have my phone. I'm not the only one just check out facebook and there are scores of people with rip-off stories going back 2-3 years.

I was stupid and did not do my homework

The website quoted a preliminary offer of $110 for a four-year-old, barely used HP laptop. I used the shipping label cashforlaptops provided and my own box to mail them the laptop. It took 20 days for the package to arrive at their location. The tracking number they provided was worthless. It gave no current location status or ETA. I tried emailing the company for an update and received only auto-generated replies. I finally received an email stating my laptop had been received and was awaiting inspection. A week later, I received a congratulatory email notifying me that I had been paid $50 for my laptop. I was not given the opportunity to accept or decline the offer. To say I am a pissed consumer is an understatement. Considering the hundreds of similar online complaints, I thought, I was stupid and did not do my homework. I should have gone the route of eBay or another proven, reliable and trusted source. I urge others to not make the same mistake.

I am really pissed off by the fraudulence and spuriousness of this company.

Do not trust on this company. It is a total rip-off and treachery. I had three laptops of ASUS. Quoted amount was $800 and in reality I got $300. I was bluffed and deluded. This company is full of trickiness and wiliness.

I was made a fool. I am really pissed off by the fraudulence and spuriousness of this company.

I initiated the quote for my used hp laptop, and got an online quote for $250.I shipped my laptop using the shipment box provided by them. Later, i received an email from them saying that the item was about to be inspected and that i will receive the amount upon inspection. After a week, i received the payment in the amount of $110 through paypal instead of $250.I rejected the offer and refunded the amount on the same day through paypal. Requested them to ship my laptop through their website email account, but they did not respond. That was so irritating. They finally called me back and then told me the laptop was already processed and they could not give it back to me. They lied that the laptop was damaged. The laptop was in perfect condition when it was sent. Do not use cashforlaptops.com. I wish you all good luck!

Cashforlaptops.com sent me a quote of $197.00 for my phone. They refused to return my phone, then sent $77.00 to paypal. Seriously! my phone was in excellent condition would understand if they sent a reduced value but honestly $77.00. Waited 30 minutes on hold to talk to a representative who basically said they have recycled my phone and i can't get it back. So, i didn't have any other option than taking their $77 offer.

Cash for laptops.com is surely tricking everyone! They held my phone for several weeks before they paid me! They did not even notify me if they got my phone or not!

They only paid me after I spent hours making phone calls to them! Don’t use cash for laptops if you do not want to get stressed out about them not paying the cited price.

  • Apr 25, 2015

Offered an inflated estimate, relieved my used devices and changed the offer to an unacceptable amount.

  • Apr 21, 2015

Cash for laptops.com had sent me a quote of $189.00 for my Samsung phone. Then, they sent $87.00 to my PayPal. Seriously!? My cell phone was in outstanding condition. I had barely used it for 2 months. I would have understood if they sent a reduced value, but $87.00?? I passed 30 minutes of my valuable time on hold to talk to a representative who then informed me that they have now dispatched my phone and I cannot get it back.

I had no option left by my side. I took their $87 offer. But, I was not happy

About a month ago I was online looking for a way for my galaxy s5 to go to some use instead of sitting around. Mind you the galaxy s5 is not even a year old yet and I only had the phone for several months so it was basically brand new I was just trying to put it to some use being I got a new phone. I was looking online when I seen cash for laptops had said they have the highest quote around.

After doing the online quote and even putting my phone in the used category my quote was $274 exactly which was not at all what i was looking for but thought that would be the best i could find. Prior to sending it I was not notified at all that the price of my phone would change at all so with that I sent my phone to sparks, nevada to cash for laptops which was the biggest mistake I have ever made!

A couple days after them recieving my device I was notified that it would be going into the purchasing department for the final quote which I knew nothing about because it says nothing about that on the website. Several days later I heard nothing and called several times when finally I recieved an email that said after evaluating your phone we will give you $21 dollars.

I was furiated with the email so i instantly called the first day i recieved the quote being that the policy says to call within three days of your final evaluation to accept or deny your offer. After several days of calling approximately 12 times with no reponse and being put on hold multiple times for 30 mins or longer i finally got a response and when i talked to the representative she said "im sorry you have to accept what our offer is because you did not talk to someone within those three days" meanwhile i even emailed that i declined the offer!

I asked why exactly i was only offered this amount and the representative said there was heavy wear on the front screen, heavy wear on the back, and the battery was cracked. I went on to tell her there was no possible way that there is any wear on the screen in which i just had replaced a week before i sent the phone to them. The screen was $130 to repair and i even have the reciept. Next, how can the phone be fully functional if the battery is cracked? The battery and the phone were in brand new condition!

She continued to ignore that i was upset and repeatedly would say how would you like to recieve the $21 and i said i am not satisfied with this because nobody answered i cannot get my device back and she said we will give you $14 more dollars which got me to $35 dollars for a brand new phone that just had a screen replacement. This company is a rip off and everyone needs to know so that they do not go through the same thing i did and lose something for a little amount. If i would have known this was going to happen i would have just kept the phone because it is on ebay and on the internet for almost $500 and mine was not under contract so it could be more! Very disappointed in the way they treat their customers and do not know how they are still in busines.

After researching the business i see that there is no satisfactory on this business and need help from someone to stop this!

I, like most everyone else, was scammed by cashforiphones.com. They quoted me $197 online for my iPhone 4S. After sending my iPhone in immediately, I received an email saying that after inspection, they would give me $67 for it. After emailing my rejection notice and for the phone to be returned, I did not receive an email until almost 2 days later. They informed me then that I needed to call in to either accept or reject the offer of $67. I of course called and have to wait long enough to get to someone in the purchasing department. This woman informed me that my phone had already been recycled and went through a huge list of things that were "wrong" with my iPhone that made the value drop almost 70%. Absolutely absurd.

I am still shocked at this deceiving service and bad "customer service." I am kicking myself for not reading the reviews before sending in my phone as now it is apparently "too late."

  • Apr 18, 2015

Sent in a cell phone value at $160.00 and was offered $50 when they got it. Tried to have it returned and they say it's too late.

Too late? I responded within a week... Avoid cashforlaptops.com at all cost!!!!

I got a quote from thier website offering 293$ for my Iphone 5s 32GB. It is a brand new phone, no sctratches or marks, only one week use. Fully functional. However, once they got my phone they emailed me saying they will offer me 49$! They give you 3 days to decline the offer, but when I called I was first put on hold for longer than 10 min because they had an "unusual high call volume" then I got through only to be put back on hold while they transfered me to the Purchasing Department. After about ten minutes, the call dissconnects and you have to do the process all over again! If you want to speak to a manager, you can forget it because you will never reach anyone. Its always the same people who answer you (Kept getting a lady named Jessica) but you never get anywhere with these people! Email is just as bad, they never answer them. They just hook you with thier quotes and then send you whatever amount they want. There's no way for you to delcine and get your stuff back. These people are scamming everyone and, unless you don't care how much money you get, you will get screwed. Plain and simple. Do not do business with these people! Some sort of legal action must be done with this company or they will continue to rip people off! Aviod at all costs!

Cashforlaptopds.com offred me $192 for my iPhone 5S and sent the shipping box as well. However once they received the phone, they started making excuses and trivial issues. They informed me that "find my iPhone" service is on and it makes my phone totally unsuable. I verified in icloud and it was off. Even after I informed them about that, they kept on sending me emails stating "Find my iPhone" service is on and my phone value is $0. So I called them and asked them to send the phone back. I was told by a rude customer service that once the phone is in process of inspection, it cannot be returned till it is sent to purchase department. Couple of days later they sent me an email that my iPhone 5S is valued at $12 and they will send me a check of $12. Again, I sent them numerous email and phone calles to get my phone back, but no luck. The customer service folks on phone are rude and frequently discconnects calls. Later i found in many discussion forums that cashforlaptops scammed many others. Probably it is high time to file class action law suit against this company.

I obtained an online estimate for 2 phones from Cash for Laptops/iPhones totaling nearly $300. I was honest and said both devices had screen damage and were in less than perfect condition during the estimating process. I sent the 2 phones to Cash for Laptops/iPhones and more than a month later (I'm not even going to address the time this whole thing took), I got emails from them saying the final estimate was $17 per phone. Wow! A difference of $160 or so. Talk about a bait and switch. I was annoyed but had read the Terms and knew that I could request my devices back at their cost. Since that time, I've tried to email multiple times and each time get an autoresponse saying they'll contact me within 48 hours. Only once have they even emailed back and then it was to tell me to call customer service. I've called customer service at least 7 times at all different times of day and each time it says they're experiencing high call volume. A few times I've been able to get through to the first person who transfers me to the "purchasing department" I apparently have to talk to to handle getting my devices back. Each time, I wait on hold for 10 minutes before a message comes on to tell me I've called at high call volume time and to call back again at another time. At this point, I'm suspicious this department even exists at all. Through it all, I am contiuing to get status updates about my devices and checks, which indicate they're still planning to send me $34. Are you kidding me. I've replied to each of these emails telling them I want my devices back and received no response. Scam, scam, scam. Avoid them at all costs!

Offered $201 for used iPhone 5. When I returned phone the actual offer turned out to be $32. I called to reject the offer and have the phone returned but was put into a phone queue that kicked me out after 10 minutes. Multiple calls ensued with the same result. After 3 days a paypal credit of $32 was received by me. Case closed. Do not use this service Unless you are willing to accept far less than the initial offer!

Watch out for cashforiphones.com!

They promised to pay over $200 for my iPhone 5. I shipped it to them but forgot to turn off the "find my iPhone feature" before removing it from my iCloud account, so they changed the offer to $15. I asked them to ship the phone back to me. They said I had to talk to customer service within 3 days. I called and called and called and called but you can never get through to customer service - you get put on hold and then dropped after 5-10 minutes. I called and asked to speak to a manger - was put on hold and dropped again and again I emailed repeatedly - they replied and said I had to call. I called one time for one hour straight and never got through.

They they are a Scam. A void them at all costs.

I sent this company my Samsung galaxy S4 phone 5 weeks ago. They said the phone was worth $215. They emailed me yesterday offering me $32 for the phone. I called them and rejected this offer and wanted them to return my phone. They said they could not return it because the order had already been processed. This is unfair because when I sent them the phone they said I would have a choice of accepting or rejecting their offer. If rejected they said they would send my phone back. They are nothing but scam artists......

Cash for Laptops runs an online ad that looks legitimate. After selecting your model, a pop-up provides an estimate of what your computer is worth. It all looks good. They send prepaid mailing carton and labels, and everything looks fine...until you receive their email with a lowball offer that is only a fraction of what was initially promised.

So, like everyone else I called the company (it took 6 calls for someone to answer) and spoke with Kevin in the Purchasing Dept. When I asked to have my computer returned to me he offered me double what was quoted in their email. They often trump up some bogus excuse to justify their estimate. He claimed that the optical drive was broken--though it was not, as I had recently erased the hard drive and reinstalled the OS. As a last resort to keep my business, he again doubled his offer.

I am embarrassed to admit that I fell for their bait and switch tactic if only to put this awful experience behind me. Cash for Laptops pretends to be a legitimate business, but their bait and switch methods are unethical. Avoid them!

I sent my iphone 4s 16 gig to cashforlaptops.com I was late looking at my emails and realized today that they had sent me a message on the 10th and it was the 13th now. I called right away and had a lonnnggg wait time and then she sent me to the purchasing department where I sat for another 10 minutes or so. In the end he tried to tell me that my phone was already processed. I said I wanted $157 like it says on the site. He said that is showed scratches on the front and back and on the home buttom. I had an expensive Otter box on it since day one, there is no way there were scratches on it. He said sometimes dirt gets in there and then it rubs it and damages it under the Otterbox. I said I wanted it sent back and use it for my kids. He said it was processed. I said it can't be because today is the third day. He said well it's pacific time and it's .... right now. I read him my email and said it was sent on the 10th, he was trying to tell me a different time that it was sent. He said that he was doing me a favor and he could give my $75 instead of the quoted because of hte damage and that he is being really nice to me because the market has went down since I requested the box to be sent to me. I was silent for like 10 seconds and he said nothing. I said it really has been processed? and he said yes there is nothing I can do. What kind of business runs like that???

I just wanted it back to use for my kids and now I get a measely $75. I guess I should feel good that he gave me the extra money just like that! Ha!!! I usually research companies and I'm so mad that I did not this time.

I wanted to sell them my 5s iphone, instead of iphone 5s i send them brand new iphone 6 that i was supposed to send to apple for exchange. after calling and calling them for 2 hours and being on hold for another 1 and half customer service transfer me to manager named Brian who refuse to provide him last name. First he told me that his technitian confirmed that they receive iphone 5s, after me arguing with him for a few minutes that it's not correct he told to call them back in a few days. they will check it again and will let me know which phone they have. i am sure when i will call them back that will not confirm that i send them iphone 6. be aware, do not do business with this company.

Cashforlaptop ask you to give the make model and condition of the device you are selling, with that information you receive a quote and only if the device was different from your description should your quoted price go down. So i was quoted $157 for an iphone 4S 16gd. I was sent a prepaid package and sent my phone to them promptly.

5 days later I received a call from the company stating that my phone past the inspection and that the market for this product has went down since they quoted the 157 and all they could offer was $70 bucks. Very disappointed I express that was not what their website stated and that was less than half of the orginal quote. She stated let my contact my manager and get back to you.

She came back with $100 and thats the best she could do....disappointed still I explained I would call back. I went back on their web site to see what the new quoted price was for my same devices since the market went down. To my surprise the quoted price was $157. whichs leads me to believe this compnay is deceptive and misleading, and once they received your device they low ball your quote.

I called this company back and explained if the market went down for my device why are you guys still giving quotes of $157 this moment. The man explained it was really the condition of my devices. When I explained thats not what the young lady before explained and my device was in perfect condition ( purchased it for a christmas gift and never gave the gift been sitting in the box) he stated its a used device and its normal wear and tear. I laughed and asked him to just return my device because this is bad business.

He asked me to hold on and came back with a $!25 quote. I decline and asked for my phone to be returned

All in all this company quotes you a good price but has no intentions on honoring their quote once they receive your device. Huge waste of time.
