Central Casting blaclisted me based on False Allegations

I work as a BG (BackGround) actor, also known as an extra, in New York City.

I do this as my primary source of income and take the job very seriously. I enjoy the work so much, that I even set up a Facebook community for other background actors who want to exchange tips and information at http://www.facebook.com/NYCextras

I'm well-known and well-liked in the community of extras that work in the NYC area.

Months ago, I received a phone call from Melissa Leisure, who works at Central Casting's LA (Los Angeles) office.

She said that my Central Casting account was suspended until further notice as an investigation was pending.

I asked her to explain what was going on. She told me nothing, except she would call me in a few weeks.

She did call me. Instead of explaining he details, she told me that someone had accused me of sexual harassment on the set of "Hammy the Bear" aka "The Untitled Chris Rock Project". The scene in question was at a strip club.

"Who accused me and what did they accuse me of?" I asked. "I did not do anything at all that could be construed as sexual harassment. That day, I went left early, because I got sick. So, this must be a case of mistaken identity."

Melissa said she would ask me a series of questions and that I could only answer "yes" or "no" to them.

One of the questions was: "Did you pull your penis out?"

"No." I answered.

There were other questions of a similar nature and I answered them honestly.

A few weeks later, I receive an email stating that I have been blacklisted from Central Casting, and that this decision is permanent, and their is no chance of revoking this decision.

Central Casting controls 65% of all TV/Film jobs.

Central Casting blacklisted me based on the lies of someone and they refuse to tell me who that person is.

Central Casting blacklisted me based on a false allegation.

They refused to tell me what the accusation was or who the accuser was.

Melissa Leisure, Central Casting's LA (Los Angeles) liason, asked me a series of questions and only permitted me to answer "yes" or "no" to them.

I answered the questions honestly.

A few weeks later, I receive an email telling me I am permanently banned from Central Casting.

Central Casting also plays favorites, by using the same actors over and over again, while ignoring hundreds of others who are qualified for the same job.

This is understandable if the actor is fitted for a period-specific outfit or matches the description for a photo-double, but this is, often, not the case. Instead, Central Casting calls the same people over and over again, playing favorites and discriminating against others who are just as qualified for the role.

Central Casting needs to be dismantled, since it is a monopoly, as it is responsible for casting 65% of all jobs for TV and film, and since they regularly discriminate in their hiring practices.

Since then, I've set up a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/CentralCastings that will be sharing information about Central Casting's dark side, how they blacklist people based on false allegations, how they've blacklsited people, permanently, for having the wrong wardrobe, how they discriminate by hiring their favorite actor friends over and over again, when other just-as-qualified people are capable of the role.

Central Casting needs to be thoroughly investigated for unfair and ilegal business practices.

Central Casting continues to blacklist people based on false allegations and continues to be a monopoly as they control 65% of the jobs in TV/Film. For this reason, many actors are afraid to speak out against or sign petitions against Central Casting.
