On may 21st I had finally put the deposit on my new place and I could the feel the wind of freedom (from roommates) on my face...so I go online to do my change of address and somehow am diverted from the USPS site to this other site that seems inocuous enough and yet official. I had heard that the post office was charging for changes of address and was shocked when it was $20 but I let those winds of freedom cool my head and happily paid.

I received a confirmation email and thought that was the end of it. Check the most annoying part off of my list 10 days before I move! I'm ahead of the game.

Cut to today, July 15th, no mail with cute yellow stickers indicating I'm the new person in the building. My old roommates are calling weekly for me to get my mail and I'm stressed because frankly it's stressful going back to the old place.

I dig through my old emails and find my confirmation number after going to the USPS website to follow up on my change and see what the problem is. I go to enter my "number" and the spaces aren't even the same as the number I was given and I'm one number short...wtf?

I then go back to the email and click the strangely unofficial link within the email. I was what??? Why would I pay to print out a form I could get for free?

Holy mother, I felt like an idiot but got the problem with my mail handled...I also called my bank and had the charge reversed since their service was advertised and stated I had successfully submitted my change of address to the post office.

I hope USPS gets on these guys. Genius idea but seriously not smart. They didn't even have the correct post office for me to send my change to. Beware of fake sites that provide no service but making your account $20 light.
