I called Tony at City Towing to find out why I had a Wrecker Operator Lein on my License Plate which prevented me from renewing my registration on my vehicle. After about 10 mins his response was that a Lexus that I sold over 5 years ago was towed to their location and then later destroyed and on top of that that I owed them $385 to remove this lein from my record. After explaining to them that I had sold the car back in 2009 and that there is some kind of mix up here. His response was you have to come down here and pay in cash to take care of this. Meaning I had to drive illegally over an hour away and get cash out of my bank and take it to them for them to release it. When I asked if I could just take care of it over the phone I was declined. I started doing my research on the statues in florida because this seemed fishy and down right wrong. Come to find out the statues of limitations on this situation was 5 years. When I calle dthe guy back and mentioned that this is not only not my problem but that we are roughly 45 days out from this expiring. When asked him to have a little empathy for the situation his response was thank you for reminding me and proceeded to file ANOTHER lein to make it 5 more years of this for no reason. How low can you be? So let me get this straight, I sell someone a car, it gets towed, City Towing " destroys" the car so they claim, then puts a lein on my license? How is does this make any sense at all?
