CMG of Charleston is my HOA's managment company. I have lived in my community for over 5 years, I pay my yearly assement twice a year. January and in May. In January of 2014 through my Bank, I sent my payment into the same place I have been paying for the last 4 years. At the end of February I received a notice about my "missed" payment, I checked my bank and verified the payment was sent which it was. I also phoned the managment office, asking for someone to call me back. I never recieved a phone call. March I received my second half bill for the total amount. I was very upset and again called the CMG office and again recieved no return call. I then checked my bank, and was told the check was returned and redeposited into my account Feb 29th almost two months after I sent the payment. I then again tried to send the payment in this time the total of $300+ for the total assesment.

I then received a bill May 27th dated May 5th regarding a Lein being placed against my home. I phoned my HOA treasurer becasue CMG (never returns phone calls) and asked if she had any information regarding the issue with my check she could not answer because CMG handled everything. I voiced my concern because I had received over 30 "notice" of violations against the rules, and becasue I have protested and asked for proof of the violations I feel like I am being prosicuted and harrased. At our one yearly meeting, I voiced my concerns and was basically shusshed. I have been so upset with everything that CMG has done over the last two years I had decided to move from the neighborhood.

I was so frustrated with CMG and everything that happened I filed a Ceise and disist which they ignored. I requested from my HOA to be directly contacted by my officers not CMG, but both CMG and the HOA has ignored my requrest. I haved asked for proof of the violations against the rules. I have not recieved one. They keep sending violations and saying I owe almost three times more than my HOA assement. I did prove to my HOA that I was not wrong, that it is CMG''s fault and I will not pay for their error. I paid my full assement in June to the address on the website for my community. Then, I was told the ADDRESS had changed last November OOPs they dont update the website, and that the new address was on the end of the year letter. I checked and nothing on the end of the year statement indicated a change of address. My HOA agreed with me to drop the Lien, but CMG refuses to drop the Lien.

I sent another check in June, for the full assessment and that check has of yet to be cashed. CMG continues to harrass me regarding the assement. The property manager in charge of our HOA has even "offered" to come pick up my check personally. All of the issues with the fees' and the letters and the phone calls has caused me so much stress. On top of some personal issues I dont feel free to live in my house without fear a letter in the mail.

I am so frustrated I dont know what to do. I have tried to run for the board and I have talked to neighbors we even have a Facebook page and other vent the same frustration but our board doesnt see the issues.

This company illegally became our HOA in the Middle of the night. There was no notice, no voting, nothing of any kind to the benefit of our rising community. In the past five years, there has been no benefit of any kind from having them here. They have doled out thousands of arbitry fines just so they can finance their salaries and new cars: A direct quote from one Ms Christi. They say they are always available to hear our concerns. Yet when you call: you are shuffled through an autodirectory and hung up on after being told we only converse through internet. ( To which they don't truly respond.) They hold monthly meetings where the owners of the houses they "manage " are not allowed to speak or question the policies they have instated. We were actually told once that they needed to increase our dues so they could pay for the streetlights and pools( which have not come.) We know THAT is an outright lie. our streetlights are included in our gas/electric bills and the pools and playgrounds were to be built by the developers.

For no ryme or reason, they have chosen to dictate what we may have in our yards: Many of the greenery on the list isn't native to SC, and what is Native to SC is not allowed. My neighbor was fined for leaving his ATV in the driveway: it was out for 15 minutes. One of my neighbors was fined for having his trashcan out too long: He didn't have trash pickup. We were fined for my sons toys being in the yard: He was in the yard playing. We were fined for Ruts in the driveway that the Contractors who built the house left there. This company is an outright absolute nightmare. And to add insult to injury: If you decide to leave to be in a Much bettter place: They Will Slap a Lein on Your House to drag it out for absolutely No Reason.

This group is in charge of managing the condominium association that we bought into a few years ago. We pay over $300 per month and they do not provide any service. The buildings are in complete disrepair from water damage and termites. Not once has an exterminator been on the grounds to spray for pests. The Maintenance person drives into the lot once in a while, but never exits his vehicle. He sits for about an hour, and then drives off.

The pool house is so infested with termites that it is structurally unsound and so it is closed from any use. CMG was warned on many occassions that there was mold, leaking, and water damage. They do not respond to homeowners complaints and even told us "you are only one owner experiencing problems". We asked others in the same complex and all but one who sits on the board has had similar experiences. That board member is also one who gets special treatment and is never fined although she does not follow the restrictions the rest of the residents must follow and are threatened or fined.

the entire group should be in jail for fraud, embezzlement, misuse of funds, and disregard for health and safety. Due to their lack of action, residents are getting sick from toxic mold. People who used their life savings to have a place to reside are now faced with the condominium being worthless and unsellable.

Do not ever use this geoup. They are the most dispicable people I have ever dealt with. They are not property managers, rather this is an entire scheme to take money. They have never accounted for any of the funda and refuse to disclose any financial information to the owners.

I beg HOA's to not do business with CMG!

I own two residential rental properties in Chelsea Park subdivision in Mount Pleasant and have for 10 years. About a year ago the board decided to engage a new management company. The new company CMG, began fining my tenants for parking on the street, leaving the trash can out, etc. The charges were $25 a piece. Last week one of my tenants received their second fine for parking on the street (10 months later) and it was for $200!

I personally spoke with the owner, Steve Peck, of the management company and was told the Board would not meet with me and it was in their right to charge the fines. He also said that if the fines go unpaid they will lean my properties for the fines, interest, and late fees.

These fees are completely unreasonable, as is the repsonse from management. $200 is insane and completely unfair.

I have now read many on-line posts where he use's these kinds of practices on a regular basis. He clearly has no respect for the property owners and keeping out of control HOA's to some sort of reason. Clearly the HOAs have the upper hand and are capable of bullying property owners and he facilitates that process.
