I just received this email. Long story short, I psoted a consumer complaints at www.complaintsboard.com a few months back. It was a legitimate complaint against my old boss to expose him of the corrupt practices in business he adhered to.
Today, I received a message from Complaintsboard.com which looks fishy -Either this is an attempt to blackmail all users into paying a hefty sum to keep their information private (otherwise we'd all be sued left right and center), or the website complaintsboard.com has actually been hacked. In both the cases, I feel my private information (and hundreds and thousands of other users who value their privacy) are in a lot of danger from these east european thugs (or the hackers).
What if they release the database ? Will that stand as evidence in the courtroom? Isn't this doubtful since this data is hacked, and not really legitimate anymore ? What happens to complaintsboard.com now? What if its the complaintsboard.com guys doing this to blackmail its users? Is Ripoffreport.com safe enough or should i think twice before posting anything here or on any other consumer complaint site ?
Did anyone else receive this email as well? I'm going crazy here. Please tell me what I should do :(
