This GTL (a.k.a. offenderconnect and connectnetwork) company does prepaid inmate call servicing. I set up an online account and deposited money with a visa credit card. The jail changed phone services so I called their customer service to get a refund and close the account. Well they changed names from "offenderconnect.com" to "connectnetwork.com" (both owned by Global Tel Link a.k.a. GTL*inmate phone). So when I went to the website and logged into my account which was still there but could not get an account summary. Then I called to get my refund through customer service. The representative said that I have a $0 balance. I added $70 to the account in Dec. 10, 2014 and have not used any of it plus had a positive balance of about $80. They owe me around $150.

The day my sister was in jail I received a call from a computerized company stating if i would like to talk with an inmate to pay from $25 to $100 to talk with the inmate from a jail.

I followed the prompts on the phone and proceeded to dial in my credit card information for the $25.

The telephone service is called Connect Network GTL to connect you to an inmate to receive collect calls.

I did not know that collect calls are Not accepted through cellular phones only a landline number. The service did not state that. So I paid and put in my sisters cellular number not knowing that it was the jail number i needed to include which was also not stated through the service.

The service prompted me to go online to Connect Network and create an account. Which I did. I noticed my account only had $16.00. I didnt even get to use the service yet. Then I figured this was a scam so I went online to cancel and the dot that I was to click would not click and would not cancel me after trying several times I called the service number and they gave me an email which was wrong and a wrong fax number to ask for my refund.

This is a total scam. My money is out my account. I called again and they told me I have no account with no money in it. I am very upset. I hope this helps others not to get ripped off.

ditto

Your story sounds almost like mine. One addition, when i called the 800 number for assistance, a human--sounding quite robotic (James)--kept asking me for my phone number. I tried asking why he needed my # ( I wasn't sure of this company was legit). He hang up on me. I dailed back..got James again..and asked how this system worked because I had just purchased $25. Verbally rude. He looked up my #. Surprise-- no money on file. Rip off. Thank goodness I only was ripped $25--or at least I hope. I will be watching my visa.

Bogus call

I recieved a call "from a correctional facility" telling me I had to prepay before I could recieve a call. I called the only person I know that might have been in jail and he answered, was not in jail and at work. ConnectNetwork wants me to pay them for phone calls but doesn't even tell me what facility the call came from let alone who is trying to call me. This sounds like a rip off to me.

First I had to transfer my money from one phone to another, had to call them 4 times over a weeks time to finally get my money transfered. Then I noticed I have all these charges on my account called fees, they are charging me a wireless fee on a landline phone, and they won't refund it, along with all the other fees, I was never told about when I set up account. The company will not work with you and they keep adding different fees for nothing.

I can actually copy and paste everyone here, this company charges a fee, they don't tell you how much nor stated anywhere to which I requested where is $8.95 transaction fee with credit card. How eles anyone would pay in the cellphone??? so the original $25.00 deposit goes inmediatly to $16.05 available and if you requst a refund since I was unsusceful to connect with my son I ask for my unused unripped balance back they would charged me $5.00 for the request plus 30 to 60 days wait period. STAY AWAY!!!

Still waiting...

I deposited $25 into my Newphew's "trust" account 5 days ago and am still waiting for the funds to show up. Is there another way to deposit money besides this company?

THIS COMPANY AND THIS APP IS A TOTAL SCAM !!

There is NOTHING about this COMPANY or It's APP that deserves anything that even remotely looks like a star ! It keeps telling me my username/email and password don't match . I create a new one of each . It has no problem taking my money on my debit card ! But then the new account , the same F$@#ing again ! I'm beyond pissed ! I'm looking for a BBB for online businesses to report them to ! I am going to post them to every SCAM ALERT online that I can find ! This is 2 different accounts they have SCAMMED me for !

scam and used by scammers

They call from different phone numbers and leave almost the same voice mail.

Examples of the "from" phone numbers include:

(800) 483-8314;

(914) 356-8466;

The phone numbers might be spoofed. They adjust their message based on the area code they are calling to, so they claim X county jail (if they call 914, for example, they claim "a Westchester county jail inmate is calling you").

They also ask to create an account with ConnectNetwork.com.

I am not sure whether the company itself is somehow connected to these scammers or if there is one scam on top of another scam
