I was looking for jobs on craigslist. And I found an add about maintenance hotel so I send my resume to them on Saturday 11/15/14 they reach back to me Monday 11/17/14. From a regular cell number 1347-912-4837 not the usual 212 used in ny ny. She told me if I was interested in the position. To go the next day Tuesday 11/18/14 to bring ss/proff of adress and 125$ for a license needed for the job. 80 broad st ny ny 10004 5th floor ms Diaz (interview). So I go to my interview and I'm waiting on the 5th floor and after 25 mins finally someone comes and tells me come with me so we go up to the 6th floor. So I'm walking in and I find it funny there's no computers no phones. Just lots of desks and chairs. But I wasn't really thing too much about it because I really need a job. So he tells me everything was good he did background check and everything. Then he ask for the 125$ for the class. Which I have to take for 2days 5hours each. Then he tells me I have to pay an additional 175$ for reference just in case I don't like the job or they don't like how I work. But he could really give me a solid explanation.but right before I that when I gave him the 125$ that he when to get me a receipt I was looking around and I see that everyone that works there is calling from there cell phones and it really didn't look like a professional environment. So then the guy came back and told me about the 175$ And I told him I'll try and get them by thrusday. He said ok that to come to the class witch is right there at 5pm-10pm I said ok and I felt. But once I got home I felt like something is not right so I started doing research on them and found nothing good. I saw that in that same address 6th floor people got scam before. So I need help or some one to talk to. I'm going tomorrow early and try to get back my money.

I work for a car lot. All car lots are being charged a $5 fee for each post. Only car and truck sales are being charged this! Motorcycle, RV`s and other source of transportation dealerships are not being charged in this manner! I posted an ad 2 days ago and paid their $5 fee. The posting is suppose to be live for 30 days and then you must pay another $5 for another 30 days. I posted a vehicle for sale on Aug.19 it was then deleted after 2 days! You can not contact anyone on the phone at craigslist. You are only able to contact through email (This includes law enforcement too). No refund is being offered but yet craigslist still allows people to flag a paid ad off the internet! For all I know craigslist is doing this for more money???? I would like to get in contact with an attorney to start a lawsuit for discrimination since it is only car and truck dealers that only have to pay this fee. This is not right! Craigslist is a business so therefore they should be able to reset the ad so it stays on for the 30 days I have paid for!

This is the first responce I received from this scam artist who claims they can not meet in person and that eBay Motors will handle the transaction even though I located this listing on Craigslist.org.

Subject : My Acura Mdx Touring 06 FOR SALE

Thank you for your interest in buying my vehicle. My 2006 Acura Mdx Touring With Navigation has 54000 original miles, automatic transmission. It is in perfect condition, no need for additional repairs,no scratches, dings, rust, special marks whatsoever. The interior looks great. It runs like new and all services are up to date.. Also, I need to mention that it was never involved in any accidents.

The price is $2,500 (non-negotiable). This belonged to my husband and after he passed away i decided to sell it. I have another vehicle so I'm trying to sell it as soon as possible, my name is on the title.

I moved at my daughter because I had a throat surgery and i will remain here for few months at least. I'm located in Augusta, ME and i took the vehicle with me. I gave it to eBay Motors who will deliver it to the next owner. The transaction will be made through them for our own safety because I can't deal in person. The best part about this is that you'll get 5 days for inspection for free with no further obligation or fees.

If you're interested in purchasing it just email me your full name, full address and phone # so that I can initiate the deal through eBay Motors and they will contact you to explain the procedure.

Here is the second message regarding the invoice and payment terms:

Good morning, eBay Motors told me that you must have the invoice. Check your bulk spam message too so you can find the invoice. I will wait for you to make the payment to eBay Motors so the shipping can begin. When you`ll receive the suv you`ll have 5 days of inspection and in case you won`t like it you can send it back on my cost and eBay Motors will send all your money back. I will also send all the paperwork and a bill of sale which will be already signed and notarized onto your name. If you decide to keep it all your have to do is to sign the transfer papers and announce eBay Motors to release the funds to me. Please let me know if you received the invoice and when you will be able to complete the payment so I can release the shipping right away. Thanks!

eBay.com responded back to identifing this same practice as a scam. They never act as a selling agent in transactions outside ebay.com. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

Plus never send a Wire Transfer or Money Order outside the eBay.com website. Otherwise you have no protection. Beware.

I replied to a craigslist rental ad and was directed to buy a background check at rentalverified.com and later found out I was sent a mass email and the home does not exist.

In the good old days, Craigslist was a site deficated to the fair and safe interest of its users. But now most cloud gateways are run by small staffed teams who make a fortune while sites themselves suffer and are often too cheap to hire enough people to enforce fair play usage. CL was a better site a dozen years ago before the old Yahoo Message Board was censored and gutted to make room for official PC political corporate spin. As I'm sure I'm not alone, reporting CL now seems to be the right thing to do since the site seemingly does little or nothing to combat consistent and ongoing abuse by scam art con men poseurs who populate postings.

The most glairing instance of its lax, aloof policy is the anonymous code reply system which conveys a false sense of security and turns out to be a cyberspace cloaking communications device that basically allows cheaters or grifters to pitch you their rip off scemes in relative anonymity. Then there is the preponderance of gig intern ads whose promises are non existent as a lure to sucker in free services. All too often, you see the same bogus ads over and over again and yet no one is ever banned. Even in the personals section, real people are few and far in between and the listings are filled with either adult cam girl bots or links to pickup sites.

There is a saving grace in the sales section, which is more often than not an online bargain bin for savvy consumers who can make sure they are getting thier money's worth through easy surf info research. But many other sections, both employer oriented and social hookups, need to be policed and patrolled by the site to show that it that cares about the public who use it. This is not much to ask since in the Internet Age of 24/7 interaction, content providing Joes and Janes make the cloud masters the E Gods that they are. One hopes Craigslist steps up its game to keep a rogue Internet honest. It's not the place it once was before the dot com bust.
