Credo Mobile Phone Company Reviews

  • May 5, 2014

First and foremost, Credo uses tactics like paying your ETF's or giving you a percentage off of the first year, or similar to get you to sign onto the 2 year contract. But then they have you! They are far more expensive than most other carriers and the service is less than most.

I had Credo for about 11 months and then dropped my phone in a lake. When I first called, the person on the phone (they are on line only, no stores where you can go talk to someone) said that I just needed to make sure that a used phone is checked to make sure it is not stolen. That's great, no problem, of course I want to make sure I am not purchasing a stolen phone! I found a phone and the next person I talked to said that , ""absolutely not"" they never connect used phones to their service, only phones purchased through them. And of course, they would not give me any deals on new phones through them! I had to pay over $550 for phones that were under $500 elsewhere. So, there is the 2nd issue, inconsistent information from their own customer service people.

I then went to a used phone store here in Seattle, and bought a used phone (it wasn't a great phone, but still) and they were able to connect to my service with Credo. Now, why couldn't Credo do that for me? Why did I have to go buy a substandard phone at some store to get it connected? I could have purchased a much better phone on Craigslist or EBay (and paid less) and after making sure it was not a stolen phone (before buying it) i could have had a decent phone and continued on with Credo paying that ridiculous monthly payment I signed up for for 2 years. But no, they refused to connect it, saying that they couldn't, but obviously, they were lying as it obviously could be done since the used phone store did it!!

That is #3, they lie. They are in it for the money, yet are trying to come off as being some progressive company that gives to progressive causes. Can someone tell me how having to buy a new phone rather than a used phone is progressive? They don't want to give up the money they make from people losing their phones, pure and simple.

And now, #4, they are refusing to unlock one of the phones that I got from them for another family member back when I was with them, saying that again, they cannot do it. So, now this phone is useless. I will have to throw it away. Again, how is that being green?

I left as soon as I could, but I still had to pay their Early Termination Fees. Someone needs to let everyone out there know how awful of a company they are. They have no integrity.
