Custom Craft Homes Reviews

I hired Jeorge Popp and Custom Craft Homes to furnish custom cabinets in my house in 7 rooms including kitchen and bathrooms. It was probably one of my biggest mistakes of my life. I provided him with renderings/pictures of all rooms and we agreed to the price, deadlines, and finishes, colors. It was supposed to be custom made project as per rendering. As for deadline it was very important because we had a closing and had to move in but before moving in we had to get an occupancy permit. Unfortunately comes the moving day and we were not even close to being finished. We had to pay money to the village to get a temporary permit. At that time he delivered some cabinets and they were horrible. The finish, color was and still is all wrong. The cabinets are not custom in any shape or form. They are the cheapest quality stock product that he purchased and hauled to my house. I have drawers with unfinished edges with splinters and wood particles all over them. They are already falling apart. No room in my house is finished. I have missing cabinet fronts in every room. I have appliances that are not completely installed because the cabinets that he brought are not the right size. We will need to replace half of what he installed. My laundry room besides of being not finished has three different colors for each piece. Two cabinet's door are painted two different colors?! When I showed him the shades and color issue he said it was the paint issue but he couldn't do anything about it!!! Yes! And later on he sent me letter that it was illusion caused by lighting. The best piece of evidence of his "craftsmanship" sits in my master bedroom. This is the "masterpiece" that I will post pictures of on every page to show as a warning to others not to ever trust Jeorge Popp and Custom Craft Homes. One more room that I really have to mention is my mudroom. Whenever i'm in need of nail filing that is where i can go: cubbies. The finish on them is unbeilievable. It has to be the worst painting job (it was supposed to be cabinet grade paint sprayed as proffessional cabinet makers do). It is the roughest surface more like a sandpaper. There is a touch up done on one part of the cubbie in the middle: with a different color!!! Yes! It would be too much to write but the kitchen looks equally atrocious. Island has to be completely redone. Missing drawers, door cabinets, shelves. I will need to remove upper part of my backsplash because the upper cabinets are hung about quarter inch too low on one wall and about quarter inch too high on other wall. And one is correct. Yay? The hood - speechless. It looks like i built it and wasn't even trying. Literally. Not only that it is hung crooked, it is a complete garbage so it will be removed and new one has to be installed. Again I will need to replace backsplash there as well. I think I will stop on this because nobody wants to hear about my study. However.... my study was supposed to have nice stained shaker style custom built cabinets with a small desk area. It is called scare room now. He installed some cheap stock cabinets that have patches of stain with marks of sponge all over them. Instead of nice shelves I have roughed cut pieces of wood, intead of build to the ceiling cabinets mine end at about 90". My ceiling is 111". We don't use this room. It is too depressing to go in there. Until I have those ugly pieces removed I can't bare to look at it. So much money thrown to a garbage.

Since I moved in couple months ago I live in this incomplete madness. We asked him to come and walk thru with us and explain what could be done. We talked we agreed and he has not showed up since. I decided to find someone else to finish, fix, replace and it will cost a lot more than I originally budgeted for cabinets. He owes me a lot of money. Be aware!

Custom Craft Homes sold us on the "direct buy" concept, which is really just a decoy for them being able to mark-up prices on almost everything they claim is "standard". There is no such thing as standard with this business, they give a very low budget for every thing you have to buy. They told us white cabinets would be included during our consultation, after we were under contract, the cabinets were $5000 above what they had budgeted for us. That is just one example of the many ways we were duped out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Our contract gave them 8 months to build our home, in month 15, going into our third extension on our construction loan, we terminated our contract with them. They were not happy. They put an unenforacable lien on our home just to complicate us getting financing after our home was completed with another contractor.

They encouraged us to hurry and get our construction loan saying our home building process would "fly".They tried to immediately draw on our contingency line on the loan, which is above the agreed purchase price, until my husband stopped them.

We have discovered that they have lied to subs telling them that we weren't signing draws and that's why they weren't getting paid, which was completely untrue.

They have used subs without licenses, and it shows in the work done.

I have personally talked with multiple people in the same predicament as we are and just as upset.

Please avoid this business. You will not be happy with the process or the product, not to mention, your life savings will be gone before you know it on things you thought were included.
